1 (CPDV) The words of Jeremiah, the son of Hilkiah of the priests who were in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin.
1 (ROH) Slová Jeremiáša, syna Hilkiášovho, z kňazov, ktorí boli v Anatóte v zemi Benjaminovej,

2 (CPDV) The word of the Lord, which came to him in the days of Josiah, the son of Amon, king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign,
2 (ROH) ku ktorému sa stalo slovo Hospodinovo za dní Joziáša, syna Amonovho, judského kráľa, v trinástom roku jeho kraľovania,

3 (CPDV) and which came to him in the days of Jehoiakim, the son of Josiah, king of Judah, even until the completion of the eleventh year of Zedekiah, the son of Josiah, king of Judah, even until the transmigration of Jerusalem in the fifth month.
3 (ROH) a stávalo sa za dní Jehojakima, syna Joziášovho, judského kráľa, a tak až do konca jedenásteho roku Cedekiáša, syna Joziášovho, judského kráľa, až do odvedenia Jeruzalema v piatom mesiaci do zajatia.

4 (CPDV) And the word of the Lord came to me, saying:
4 (ROH) A stalo sa slovo Hospodinovo ku mne povediac:

5 (CPDV) “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. And before you went forth from the womb, I sanctified you. And I made you a prophet to the nations.”
5 (ROH) Prv ako som ťa utvoril v lone matky, znal som ťa, a prv ako si vyšiel zo života, posvätil som ťa, za proroka národom som ťa dal.

6 (CPDV) And I said: “Alas, alas, alas, Lord God! Behold, I do not know how to speak, for I am a boy.”
6 (ROH) A ja som povedal: Ach, Pane, Hospodine, hľa, veď ja neviem hovoriť, lebo som dieťa!

7 (CPDV) And the Lord said to me: “Do not choose to say, ‘I am a boy.’ For you shall go forth to everyone to whom I will send you. And you shall speak all that I will command you.
7 (ROH) A Hospodin mi riekol: Nepovedz: Som dieťa! Ale ku komukoľvek ťa pošlem, pojdeš, a všetko, čokoľvek ti prikážem, budeš hovoriť.

8 (CPDV) You should not be afraid before their face. For I am with you, so that I may deliver you,” says the Lord.
8 (ROH) Neboj sa ich, lebo ja som s tebou, aby som ťa vytrhnul, hovorí Hospodin.

9 (CPDV) And the Lord put forth his hand, and he touched my mouth. And the Lord said to me: “Behold, I have placed my words in your mouth.
9 (ROH) A Hospodin vystrel svoju ruku a dotkol sa mojich úst a riekol mi Hospodin: Hľa, vložil som svoje slová do tvojich úst.

10 (CPDV) Behold, today I have appointed you over nations and over kingdoms, so that you may root up, and pull down, and destroy, and scatter, and so that you may build and plant.”
10 (ROH) Vidzže, ustanovil som ťa tohoto dňa nad národami a nad kráľovstvami, aby si plienil a boril, hubil a búral, staväl a sadil.

11 (CPDV) And the word of the Lord came to me, saying, “What do you see, Jeremiah?” And I said, “I see a staff, keeping watch.”
11 (ROH) A stalo sa slovo Hospodinovo ku mne povediac: Čo vidíš Jeremiášu? A ja som povedal: Vidím šakédový, mandlový prút.

12 (CPDV) And the Lord said to me: “You have seen well. For I will keep watch over my word, so that I may accomplish it.”
12 (ROH) A Hospodin mi riekol: Dobre vidíš, lebo ja som šokéd, bdejem nad svojím slovom, aby som ho vykonal.

13 (CPDV) And the word of the Lord came to me a second time, saying, “What do you see?” And I said, “I see a cooking pot upon a fire, and its face is before the face of the north.”
13 (ROH) A stalo sa slovo Hospodinovo ku mne po druhé povediac: Čo vidíš? A povedal som: Vidím hrniec, ktorý vrie, a ktorého predná strana je od severa.

14 (CPDV) And the Lord said to me: “From the north, an evil will spread over all the inhabitants of the earth.
14 (ROH) A Hospodin mi riekol: Od severa sa rozpúta zlé na všetkých obyvateľov zeme.

15 (CPDV) For behold, I will call together all the close associates of the kingdoms of the north, says the Lord. And they will arrive, and each one of them will place his throne at the entrance to the gates of Jerusalem, and over all its surrounding walls, and over all the cities of Judah.
15 (ROH) Lebo hľa, zavolám na všetky čeľade kráľovstiev severa, hovorí Hospodin, a prijdú a postavia každý svoju stolicu pri vchode do brán Jeruzalema a proti všetkým jeho múrom dookola a proti všetkým mestám Judska.

16 (CPDV) And I will speak my judgments with them, concerning all the wickedness of those who have forsaken me, and who have offered libations to strange gods, and who have adored the work of their own hands.
16 (ROH) A budem hovoriť nad nimi svoje súdy pre všetku ich zlosť, pretože ma opustili a kadili iným bohom a klaňali sa dielam svojich rúk.

17 (CPDV) Therefore, you should gird your waist, and 427 rise up, and speak to them everything that I instruct you. You should not have dread before their face. For I will cause you to be unafraid of their countenance.
17 (ROH) Preto ty prepáš svoje bedrá a vstanúc budeš im hovoriť všetko, čo ti ja prikážem. Nedes sa ich, aby som ťa nepredesil pred nimi.

18 (CPDV) For certainly, this day, I have made you like a fortified city, and an iron pillar, and a brass wall, over all the land, to the kings of Judah, to its leaders, and to the priests, and to the people of the land.
18 (ROH) A ja, hľa, dal som ťa dnes za ohradené mesto a za železný stĺp a za medené múry proti celej zemi, proti kráľom Judska, proti jeho kniežatám, proti jeho kňazom a proti ľudu zeme.

19 (CPDV) And they will make war against you, but they will not prevail. For I am with you, says the Lord, so that I may free you.”
19 (ROH) A budú bojovať proti tebe, ale ťa nepremôžu, lebo ja som s tebou, hovorí Hospodin, aby som ťa vytrhol.

Jer 1,1-3 - Tieto verše sú nadpisom Knihy. Zahrňujú Jeremiášovu činnosť len do 11. roku panovania Sedekiáša.

I Boh bude bedliť a splní, čo predpovedal.
