1 (HEM) כי לא מועף לאשר מוצק לה כעת הראשון הקל ארצה זבלון וארצה נפתלי והאחרון הכביד דרך הים עבר הירדן גליל הגוים׃
1 (UKJV) Nevertheless the dimness shall not be such as was in her vexation, when at the first he lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, and afterward did more grievously afflict her by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, in Galilee of the nations.
2 (HEM) העם ההלכים בחשך ראו אור גדול ישבי בארץ צלמות אור נגה עליהם׃
2 (UKJV) The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them has the light shined.
3 (HEM) הרבית הגוי לא הגדלת השמחה שמחו לפניך כשמחת בקציר כאשר יגילו בחלקם שלל׃
3 (UKJV) You have multiplied the nation, and not increased the joy: they joy before you according to the joy in harvest, and as men rejoice when they divide the spoil.
4 (HEM) כי את על סבלו ואת מטה שכמו שבט הנגש בו החתת כיום מדין׃
4 (UKJV) For you have broken the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, as in the day of Midian.
5 (HEM) כי כל סאון סאן ברעש ושמלה מגוללה בדמים והיתה לשרפה מאכלת אש׃
5 (UKJV) "For every battle of the warrior is with confused noise, and garments rolled in blood; but this shall be with burning and fuel of fire. "
6 (HEM) כי ילד ילד לנו בן נתן לנו ותהי המשרה על שכמו ויקרא שמו פלא יועץ אל גבור אביעד שר שלום׃
6 (UKJV) For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
7 (HEM) למרבה המשרה ולשלום אין קץ על כסא דוד ועל ממלכתו להכין אתה ולסעדה במשפט ובצדקה מעתה ועד עולם קנאת יהוה צבאות תעשה זאת׃
7 (UKJV) Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
8 (HEM) דבר שלח אדני ביעקב ונפל בישראל׃
8 (UKJV) The Lord sent a word into Jacob, and it has lighted upon Israel.
9 (HEM) וידעו העם כלו אפרים ויושב שמרון בגאוה ובגדל לבב לאמר׃
9 (UKJV) And all the people shall know, even Ephraim and the inhabitant of Samaria, that say in the pride and stoutness of heart,
10 (HEM) לבנים נפלו וגזית נבנה שקמים גדעו וארזים נחליף׃
10 (UKJV) The bricks are fallen down, but we will build with hewn stones: the sycomores are cut down, but we will change them into cedars.
11 (HEM) וישגב יהוה את צרי רצין עליו ואת איביו יסכסך׃
11 (UKJV) "Therefore the LORD shall set up the adversaries of Rezin against him, and join his enemies together; "
12 (HEM) ארם מקדם ופלשתים מאחור ויאכלו את ישראל בכל פה בכל זאת לא שב אפו ועוד ידו נטויה׃
12 (UKJV) "The Syrians before, and the Philistines behind; and they shall devour Israel with open mouth. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still. "
13 (HEM) והעם לא שב עד המכהו ואת יהוה צבאות לא דרשו׃
13 (UKJV) For the people turns not unto him that strikes them, neither do they seek the LORD of hosts.
14 (HEM) ויכרת יהוה מישראל ראש וזנב כפה ואגמון יום אחד׃
14 (UKJV) Therefore the LORD will cut off from Israel head and tail, branch and rush, in one day.
15 (HEM) זקן ונשוא פנים הוא הראש ונביא מורה שקר הוא הזנב׃
15 (UKJV) "The ancient and honourable, he is the head; and the prophet that teaches lies, he is the tail. "
16 (HEM) ויהיו מאשרי העם הזה מתעים ומאשריו מבלעים׃
16 (UKJV) "For the leaders of this people cause them to go astray; and they that are led of them are destroyed. "
17 (HEM) על כן על בחוריו לא ישמח אדני ואת יתמיו ואת אלמנתיו לא ירחם כי כלו חנף ומרע וכל פה דבר נבלה בכל זאת לא שב אפו ועוד ידו נטויה׃
17 (UKJV) Therefore the LORD shall have no joy in their young men, neither shall have mercy on their fatherless and widows: for every one is an hypocrite and an evildoer, and every mouth speaks folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
18 (HEM) כי בערה כאש רשעה שמיר ושית תאכל ותצת בסבכי היער ויתאבכו גאות עשן׃
18 (UKJV) For wickedness burns as the fire: it shall devour the briers and thorns, and shall kindle in the thickets of the forest, and they shall mount up like the lifting up of smoke.
19 (HEM) בעברת יהוה צבאות נעתם ארץ ויהי העם כמאכלת אש איש אל אחיו לא יחמלו׃
19 (UKJV) Through the wrath of the LORD of hosts is the land darkened, and the people shall be as the fuel of the fire: no man shall spare his brother.
20 (HEM) ויגזר על ימין ורעב ויאכל על שמאול ולא שבעו איש בשר זרעו יאכלו׃
20 (UKJV) "And he shall snatch on the right hand, and be hungry; and he shall eat on the left hand, and they shall not be satisfied: they shall eat every man the flesh of his own arm: "
21 (HEM) מנשה את אפרים ואפרים את מנשה יחדו המה על יהודה בכל זאת לא שב אפו ועוד ידו נטויה׃
21 (UKJV) "Manasseh, Ephraim; and Ephraim, Manasseh: and they together shall be against Judah. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still. "

כי ילד ילד לנו בן נתן לנו ותהי המשרה על שכמו ויקרא שמו פלא יועץ אל גבור אביעד שר שלום׃
Iz 22:22 - ונתתי מפתח בית דוד על שכמו ופתח ואין סגר וסגר ואין פתח׃
Lk 2:10 - ויאמר אליהם המלאך אל תיראו כי הנני מבשר אתכם שמחה גדולה אשר תהיה לכל העם׃
Jn 4:10 - ויען ישוע ויאמר אליה לו ידעת את מתת אלהים ומי הוא האמר אליך תני נא לי לשתות כי עתה שאלת ממנו ונתן לך מים חיים׃
Iz 11:2 - ונחה עליו רוח יהוה רוח חכמה ובינה רוח עצה וגבורה רוח דעת ויראת יהוה׃
Jer 23:6 - בימיו תושע יהודה וישראל ישכן לבטח וזה שמו אשר יקראו יהוה צדקנו׃

למרבה המשרה ולשלום אין קץ על כסא דוד ועל ממלכתו להכין אתה ולסעדה במשפט ובצדקה מעתה ועד עולם קנאת יהוה צבאות תעשה זאת׃

ארם מקדם ופלשתים מאחור ויאכלו את ישראל בכל פה בכל זאת לא שב אפו ועוד ידו נטויה׃
Iz 5:25 - על כן חרה אף יהוה בעמו ויט ידו עליו ויכהו וירגזו ההרים ותהי נבלתם כסוחה בקרב חוצות בכל זאת לא שב אפו ועוד ידו נטויה׃
Iz 10:4 - בלתי כרע תחת אסיר ותחת הרוגים יפלו בכל זאת לא שב אפו ועוד ידו נטויה׃

על כן על בחוריו לא ישמח אדני ואת יתמיו ואת אלמנתיו לא ירחם כי כלו חנף ומרע וכל פה דבר נבלה בכל זאת לא שב אפו ועוד ידו נטויה׃
Iz 10:6 - בגוי חנף אשלחנו ועל עם עברתי אצונו לשלל שלל ולבז בז ולשימו מרמס כחמר חוצות׃

כי בערה כאש רשעה שמיר ושית תאכל ותצת בסבכי היער ויתאבכו גאות עשן׃
Iz 5:24 - לכן כאכל קש לשון אש וחשש להבה ירפה שרשם כמק יהיה ופרחם כאבק יעלה כי מאסו את תורת יהוה צבאות ואת אמרת קדוש ישראל נאצו׃
Iz 24:6 - על כן אלה אכלה ארץ ויאשמו ישבי בה על כן חרו ישבי ארץ ונשאר אנוש מזער׃
Iz 9,1 - Na spomenuté kraje vo vojnových hrôzach smrť naozaj vrhla svoj tieň.
Iz 9,2 - Dnešný porušený hebrejský text a za ním aj Vulg číta: "Rozmnožil si národ, nezväčšil si radosť." Ak by toto znenie bolo správne, zmysel by bol: Kedysi bol národ veľký, ale nemal mnoho radosti.
Iz 9,3 - O premožení Madiánčanov pozri Sdc 7 n.
Iz 9,4 - Hrmotná obuv a šat zmáčaný krvou patria k vojenskému výstroju.
Iz 9,5 - Chlapček, ktorý donesie svetu toľkú radosť, je Emanuel, Mesiáš (porov. Lk 2,10–11). Názvy, ktoré sa mu tu dávajú, dokazujú, že nebude obyčajným človekom, ba že bude Bohom. Pravda, v Starom zákone ani samému prorokovi nebol jasný celý dosah názvu "mocný Boh". Izaiáš vedel len toľko, že v Dieťati-Mesiášovi sa akýmsi neobyčajným spôsobom zjaví Boh. Ako väčšina proroctiev i toto sa stalo celkom jasným len po splnení. My, ktorým už bolo zjavené tajomstvo Najsvätejšej Trojice, vieme, že Emanuel je druhá božská osoba. Kráľovstvo, ktoré založí, bude len pokračovaním starozákonnej bohovlády, ale bude mať večné trvanie.
Iz 9,8 - Samária bola hlavné mesto Severnej ríše izraelskej, ktorá sa často volala aj Efraim, pretože kmeň Efraim hral v nej vedúci zástoj.
Iz 9,10 - Nepriatelia Rasinovi boli Asýri a iné okolité národy.
Iz 9,13 - Výrazy: "hlava a chvost", "palmová ratolesť a trsť" označujú obyčajne to, čo je "vznešené a podlé", "vysoké a nízke". Teda: vodcov národa a pospolitý ľud (porov. Dt 28,13.44; Iz 19,15). Tu však dáva prorok výrazu "hlava a chvost" od obvyklého trochu odchylný význam.
Iz 9,17 - Rozumej: Nešťastie zachváti najprv rúhačov, pohanov (tŕne), potom bude ničiť bez vyberania.
Iz 9,19 - "Mäso vlastného ramena" zjedá človek v občianskej vojne, keď ničí tých, čo sú mu najbližší. Takéto vojny boli časté v severnej ríši, ku ktorej patrili aj bratské kmene Efraima a Manassesa.
