1 (UKJV) Nevertheless the dimness shall not be such as was in her vexation, when at the first he lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, and afterward did more grievously afflict her by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, in Galilee of the nations.
1 (LS) Mais les ténèbres ne régneront pas toujours Sur la terre où il y a maintenant des angoisses: Si les temps passés ont couvert d'opprobre Le pays de Zabulon et le pays de Nephthali, Les temps à venir couvriront de gloire La contrée voisine de la mer, au delà du Jourdain, Le territoire des Gentils.
2 (UKJV) The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them has the light shined.
2 (LS) Le peuple qui marchait dans les ténèbres Voit une grande lumière; Sur ceux qui habitaient le pays de l'ombre de la mort Une lumière resplendit.
3 (UKJV) You have multiplied the nation, and not increased the joy: they joy before you according to the joy in harvest, and as men rejoice when they divide the spoil.
3 (LS) Tu rends le peuple nombreux, Tu lui accordes de grandes joies; Il se réjouit devant toi, comme on se réjouit à la moisson, Comme on pousse des cris d'allégresse au partage du butin.
4 (UKJV) For you have broken the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, as in the day of Midian.
4 (LS) Car le joug qui pesait sur lui, Le bâton qui frappait son dos, La verge de celui qui l'opprimait, Tu les brises, comme à la journée de Madian.
5 (UKJV) "For every battle of the warrior is with confused noise, and garments rolled in blood; but this shall be with burning and fuel of fire. "
5 (LS) Car toute chaussure qu'on porte dans la mêlée, Et tout vêtement guerrier roulé dans le sang, Seront livrés aux flammes, Pour être dévorés par le feu.
6 (UKJV) For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
6 (LS) Car un enfant nous est né, un fils nous est donné, Et la domination reposera sur son épaule; On l'appellera Admirable, Conseiller, Dieu puissant, Père éternel, Prince de la paix.
7 (UKJV) Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
7 (LS) Donner à l'empire de l'accroissement, Et une paix sans fin au trône de David et à son royaume, L'affermir et le soutenir par le droit et par la justice, Dès maintenant et à toujours: Voilà ce que fera le zèle de l'Eternel des armées.
8 (UKJV) The Lord sent a word into Jacob, and it has lighted upon Israel.
8 (LS) Le Seigneur envoie une parole à Jacob: Elle tombe sur Israël.
9 (UKJV) And all the people shall know, even Ephraim and the inhabitant of Samaria, that say in the pride and stoutness of heart,
9 (LS) Tout le peuple en aura connaissance, Ephraïm et les habitants de Samarie, Qui disent avec orgueil et fierté:
10 (UKJV) The bricks are fallen down, but we will build with hewn stones: the sycomores are cut down, but we will change them into cedars.
10 (LS) Des briques sont tombées, Nous bâtirons en pierres de taille; Des sycomores ont été coupés, Nous les remplacerons par des cèdres.
11 (UKJV) "Therefore the LORD shall set up the adversaries of Rezin against him, and join his enemies together; "
11 (LS) L'Eternel élèvera contre eux les ennemis de Retsin, Et il armera leurs ennemis,
12 (UKJV) "The Syrians before, and the Philistines behind; and they shall devour Israel with open mouth. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still. "
12 (LS) Les Syriens à l'orient, les Philistins à l'occident; Et ils dévoreront Israël à pleine bouche. Malgré tout cela, sa colère ne s'apaise point, Et sa main est encore étendue.
13 (UKJV) For the people turns not unto him that strikes them, neither do they seek the LORD of hosts.
13 (LS) Le peuple ne revient pas à celui qui le frappe, Et il ne cherche pas l'Eternel des armées.
14 (UKJV) Therefore the LORD will cut off from Israel head and tail, branch and rush, in one day.
14 (LS) Aussi l'Eternel arrachera d'Israël la tête et la queue, La branche de palmier et le roseau, En un seul jour.
15 (UKJV) "The ancient and honourable, he is the head; and the prophet that teaches lies, he is the tail. "
15 (LS) L'ancien et le magistrat, c'est la tête, Et le prophète qui enseigne le mensonge, c'est la queue.
16 (UKJV) "For the leaders of this people cause them to go astray; and they that are led of them are destroyed. "
16 (LS) Ceux qui conduisent ce peuple l'égarent, Et ceux qui se laissent conduire se perdent.
17 (UKJV) Therefore the LORD shall have no joy in their young men, neither shall have mercy on their fatherless and widows: for every one is an hypocrite and an evildoer, and every mouth speaks folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
17 (LS) C'est pourquoi le Seigneur ne saurait se réjouir de leurs jeunes hommes, Ni avoir pitié de leurs orphelins et de leurs veuves; Car tous sont des impies et des méchants, Et toutes les bouches profèrent des infamies. Malgré tout cela, sa colère ne s'apaise point, Et sa main est encore étendue.
18 (UKJV) For wickedness burns as the fire: it shall devour the briers and thorns, and shall kindle in the thickets of the forest, and they shall mount up like the lifting up of smoke.
18 (LS) Car la méchanceté consume comme un feu, Qui dévore ronces et épines; Il embrase l'épaisseur de la forêt, D'où s'élèvent des colonnes de fumée.
19 (UKJV) Through the wrath of the LORD of hosts is the land darkened, and the people shall be as the fuel of the fire: no man shall spare his brother.
19 (LS) Par la colère de l'Eternel des armées le pays est embrasé, Et le peuple est comme la proie du feu; Nul n'épargne son frère.
20 (UKJV) "And he shall snatch on the right hand, and be hungry; and he shall eat on the left hand, and they shall not be satisfied: they shall eat every man the flesh of his own arm: "
20 (LS) On pille à droite, et l'on a faim; On dévore à gauche, et l'on n'est pas rassasié; Chacun dévore la chair de son bras.
21 (UKJV) "Manasseh, Ephraim; and Ephraim, Manasseh: and they together shall be against Judah. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still. "
21 (LS) Manassé dévore Ephraïm, Ephraïm Manassé, Et ensemble ils fondent sur Juda. Malgré tout cela, sa colère ne s'apaise point, Et sa main est encore étendue.

Jer 23:6 - In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.
Verš 7
Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
2Kr 19:31 - For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and they that escape out of mount Zion: the zeal of the LORD of hosts shall do this.

"The Syrians before, and the Philistines behind; and they shall devour Israel with open mouth. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still. "
Iz 5:25 - Therefore is the anger of the LORD kindled against his people, and he has stretched forth his hand against them, and has smitten them: and the hills did tremble, and their carcasses were torn in the midst of the streets. Iz 10:6 - I will send him against an hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.

Iz 5:24 - Therefore as the fire devours the stubble, and the flame consumes the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of the LORD of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.
Iz 24:6 - Therefore has the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.
Iz 9,1 - Na spomenuté kraje vo vojnových hrôzach smrť naozaj vrhla svoj tieň.
Iz 9,2 - Dnešný porušený hebrejský text a za ním aj Vulg číta: "Rozmnožil si národ, nezväčšil si radosť." Ak by toto znenie bolo správne, zmysel by bol: Kedysi bol národ veľký, ale nemal mnoho radosti.
Iz 9,3 - O premožení Madiánčanov pozri Sdc 7 n.
Iz 9,4 - Hrmotná obuv a šat zmáčaný krvou patria k vojenskému výstroju.
Iz 9,5 - Chlapček, ktorý donesie svetu toľkú radosť, je Emanuel, Mesiáš (porov. Lk 2,10–11). Názvy, ktoré sa mu tu dávajú, dokazujú, že nebude obyčajným človekom, ba že bude Bohom. Pravda, v Starom zákone ani samému prorokovi nebol jasný celý dosah názvu "mocný Boh". Izaiáš vedel len toľko, že v Dieťati-Mesiášovi sa akýmsi neobyčajným spôsobom zjaví Boh. Ako väčšina proroctiev i toto sa stalo celkom jasným len po splnení. My, ktorým už bolo zjavené tajomstvo Najsvätejšej Trojice, vieme, že Emanuel je druhá božská osoba. Kráľovstvo, ktoré založí, bude len pokračovaním starozákonnej bohovlády, ale bude mať večné trvanie.
Iz 9,8 - Samária bola hlavné mesto Severnej ríše izraelskej, ktorá sa často volala aj Efraim, pretože kmeň Efraim hral v nej vedúci zástoj.
Iz 9,10 - Nepriatelia Rasinovi boli Asýri a iné okolité národy.
Iz 9,13 - Výrazy: "hlava a chvost", "palmová ratolesť a trsť" označujú obyčajne to, čo je "vznešené a podlé", "vysoké a nízke". Teda: vodcov národa a pospolitý ľud (porov. Dt 28,13.44; Iz 19,15). Tu však dáva prorok výrazu "hlava a chvost" od obvyklého trochu odchylný význam.
Iz 9,17 - Rozumej: Nešťastie zachváti najprv rúhačov, pohanov (tŕne), potom bude ničiť bez vyberania.
Iz 9,19 - "Mäso vlastného ramena" zjedá človek v občianskej vojne, keď ničí tých, čo sú mu najbližší. Takéto vojny boli časté v severnej ríši, ku ktorej patrili aj bratské kmene Efraima a Manassesa.
