1 (HEM) ויהי כשמע המלך חזקיהו ויקרע את בגדיו ויתכס בשק ויבא בית יהוה׃
1 (UKJV) And it came to pass, when king Hezekiah heard it, that he rent his clothes, and covered himself with sackcloth, and went into the house of the LORD.

2 (HEM) וישלח את אליקים אשר על הבית ואת שבנא הסופר ואת זקני הכהנים מתכסים בשקים אל ישעיהו בן אמוץ הנביא׃
2 (UKJV) And he sent Eliakim, who was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests covered with sackcloth, unto Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz.

3 (HEM) ויאמרו אליו כה אמר חזקיהו יום צרה ותוכחה ונאצה היום הזה כי באו בנים עד משבר וכח אין ללדה׃
3 (UKJV) And they said unto him, Thus says Hezekiah, This day is a day of trouble, and of rebuke, and of blasphemy: for the children are come to the birth, and there is not strength to bring forth.

4 (HEM) אולי ישמע יהוה אלהיך את דברי רב שקה אשר שלחו מלך אשור אדניו לחרף אלהים חי והוכיח בדברים אשר שמע יהוה אלהיך ונשאת תפלה בעד השארית הנמצאה׃
4 (UKJV) It may be the LORD your God will hear the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master has sent to reproach the living God, and will reprove the words which the LORD your God has heard: wherefore lift up your prayer for the remnant that is left.

5 (HEM) ויבאו עבדי המלך חזקיהו אל ישעיהו׃
5 (UKJV) So the servants of king Hezekiah came to Isaiah.

6 (HEM) ויאמר אליהם ישעיהו כה תאמרון אל אדניכם כה אמר יהוה אל תירא מפני הדברים אשר שמעת אשר גדפו נערי מלך אשור אותי׃
6 (UKJV) And Isaiah said unto them, Thus shall all of you say unto your master, Thus says the LORD, Be not afraid of the words that you have heard, wherewith the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.

7 (HEM) הנני נותן בו רוח ושמע שמועה ושב אל ארצו והפלתיו בחרב בארצו׃
7 (UKJV) "Behold, I will send a blast upon him, and he shall hear a rumour, and return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land. "

8 (HEM) וישב רב שקה וימצא את מלך אשור נלחם על לבנה כי שמע כי נסע מלכיש׃
8 (UKJV) So Rabshakeh returned, and found the king of Assyria warring against Libnah: for he had heard that he was departed from Lachish.

9 (HEM) וישמע על תרהקה מלך כוש לאמר יצא להלחם אתך וישמע וישלח מלאכים אל חזקיהו לאמר׃
9 (UKJV) And he heard say concerning Tirhakah king of Ethiopia, He has come forth to make war with you. And when he heard it, he sent messengers to Hezekiah, saying,

10 (HEM) כה תאמרון אל חזקיהו מלך יהודה לאמר אל ישאך אלהיך אשר אתה בוטח בו לאמר לא תנתן ירושלם ביד מלך אשור׃
10 (UKJV) Thus shall all of you speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, Let not your God, in whom you trust, deceive you, saying, Jerusalem shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.

11 (HEM) הנה אתה שמעת אשר עשו מלכי אשור לכל הארצות להחרימם ואתה תנצל׃
11 (UKJV) "Behold, you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands by destroying them utterly; and shall you be delivered? "

12 (HEM) ההצילו אותם אלהי הגוים אשר השחיתו אבותי את גוזן ואת חרן ורצף ובני עדן אשר בתלשר׃
12 (UKJV) Have the gods of the nations delivered them which my fathers have destroyed, as Gozan, and Haran, and Rezeph, and the children of Eden which were in Telassar?

13 (HEM) איה מלך חמת ומלך ארפד ומלך לעיר ספרוים הנע ועוה׃
13 (UKJV) Where is the king of Hamath, and the king of Arphad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivah?

14 (HEM) ויקח חזקיהו את הספרים מיד המלאכים ויקראהו ויעל בית יהוה ויפרשהו חזקיהו לפני יהוה׃
14 (UKJV) And Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it: and Hezekiah went up unto the house of the LORD, and spread it before the LORD.

15 (HEM) ויתפלל חזקיהו אל יהוה לאמר׃
15 (UKJV) And Hezekiah prayed unto the LORD, saying,

16 (HEM) יהוה צבאות אלהי ישראל ישב הכרבים אתה הוא האלהים לבדך לכל ממלכות הארץ אתה עשית את השמים ואת הארץ׃
16 (UKJV) O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, that dwell between the cherubims, you are the God, even you alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth: you have made heaven and earth.

17 (HEM) הטה יהוה אזנך ושמע פקח יהוה עינך וראה ושמע את כל דברי סנחריב אשר שלח לחרף אלהים חי׃
17 (UKJV) "Incline your ear, O LORD, and hear; open your eyes, O LORD, and see: and hear all the words of Sennacherib, which has sent to reproach the living God. "

18 (HEM) אמנם יהוה החריבו מלכי אשור את כל הארצות ואת ארצם׃
18 (UKJV) Truthfully, LORD, the kings of Assyria have laid waste all the nations, and their countries,

19 (HEM) ונתן את אלהיהם באש כי לא אלהים המה כי אם מעשה ידי אדם עץ ואבן ויאבדום׃
19 (UKJV) And have cast their gods into the fire: for they were no gods, but the work of men's hands, wood and stone: therefore they have destroyed them.

20 (HEM) ועתה יהוה אלהינו הושיענו מידו וידעו כל ממלכות הארץ כי אתה יהוה לבדך׃
20 (UKJV) Now therefore, O LORD our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you are the LORD, even you only.

21 (HEM) וישלח ישעיהו בן אמוץ אל חזקיהו לאמר כה אמר יהוה אלהי ישראל אשר התפללת אלי אל סנחריב מלך אשור׃
21 (UKJV) Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent unto Hezekiah, saying, Thus says the LORD God of Israel, Whereas you have prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria:

22 (HEM) זה הדבר אשר דבר יהוה עליו בזה לך לעגה לך בתולת בת ציון אחריך ראש הניעה בת ירושלם׃
22 (UKJV) "This is the word which the LORD has spoken concerning him; The virgin, the daughter of Zion, has despised you, and laughed you to scorn; the daughter of Jerusalem has shaken her head at you. "

23 (HEM) את מי חרפת וגדפת ועל מי הרימותה קול ותשא מרום עיניך אל קדוש ישראל׃
23 (UKJV) Whom have you reproached and blasphemed? and against whom have you exalted your voice, and lifted up your eyes on high? even against the Holy One of Israel.

24 (HEM) ביד עבדיך חרפת אדני ותאמר ברב רכבי אני עליתי מרום הרים ירכתי לבנון ואכרת קומת ארזיו מבחר ברשיו ואבוא מרום קצו יער כרמלו׃
24 (UKJV) "By your servants have you reproached the Lord, and have said, By the multitude of my chariots am I come up to the height of the mountains, to the sides of Lebanon; and I will cut down the tall cedars thereof, and the choice fir trees thereof: and I will enter into the height of his border, and the forest of his Carmel. "

25 (HEM) אני קרתי ושתיתי מים ואחרב בכף פעמי כל יארי מצור׃
25 (UKJV) "I have dug, and drunk water; and with the sole of my feet have I dried up all the rivers of the besieged places. "

26 (HEM) הלוא שמעת למרחוק אותה עשיתי מימי קדם ויצרתיה עתה הבאתיה ותהי להשאות גלים נצים ערים בצרות׃
26 (UKJV) "Have you not heard long ago, how I have done it; and of ancient times, that I have formed it? now have I brought it to pass, that you should be to lay waste defenced cities into ruinous heaps. "

27 (HEM) וישביהן קצרי יד חתו ובשו היו עשב שדה וירק דשא חציר גגות ושדמה לפני קמה׃
27 (UKJV) Therefore their inhabitants were of small power, they were dismayed and confounded: they were as the grass of the field, and as the green herb, as the grass on the housetops, and as corn blasted before it be grown up.

28 (HEM) ושבתך וצאתך ובואך ידעתי ואת התרגזך אלי׃
28 (UKJV) But I know your abode, and your going out, and your coming in, and your rage against me.

29 (HEM) יען התרגזך אלי ושאננך עלה באזני ושמתי חחי באפך ומתגי בשפתיך והשיבתיך בדרך אשר באת בה׃
29 (UKJV) Because your rage against me, and your tumult, has come up into mine ears, therefore will I put my hook in your nose, and my bridle in your lips, and I will turn you back by the way by which you came.

30 (HEM) וזה לך האות אכול השנה ספיח ובשנה השנית שחיס ובשנה השלישית זרעו וקצרו ונטעו כרמים ואכול פרים׃
30 (UKJV) "And this shall be a sign unto you, All of you shall eat this year such as grows of itself; and the second year that which springs of the same: and in the third year sow all of you, and reap, and plant vineyards, and eat the fruit thereof. "

31 (HEM) ויספה פליטת בית יהודה הנשארה שרש למטה ועשה פרי למעלה׃
31 (UKJV) And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall again take root downward, and bear fruit upward:

32 (HEM) כי מירושלם תצא שארית ופליטה מהר ציון קנאת יהוה צבאות תעשה זאת׃
32 (UKJV) For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and they that escape out of mount Zion: the zeal of the LORD of hosts shall do this.

33 (HEM) לכן כה אמר יהוה אל מלך אשור לא יבוא אל העיר הזאת ולא יורה שם חץ ולא יקדמנה מגן ולא ישפך עליה סללה׃
33 (UKJV) Therefore thus says the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shields, nor cast a bank against it.

34 (HEM) בדרך אשר בא בה ישוב ואל העיר הזאת לא יבוא נאם יהוה׃
34 (UKJV) By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and shall not come into this city, says the LORD.

35 (HEM) וגנותי על העיר הזאת להושיעה למעני ולמען דוד עבדי׃
35 (UKJV) For I will defend this city to save it for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake.

36 (HEM) ויצא מלאך יהוה ויכה במחנה אשור מאה ושמנים וחמשה אלף וישכימו בבקר והנה כלם פגרים מתים׃
36 (UKJV) Then the angel of the LORD went forth, and stroke in the camp of the Assyrians a hundred and fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.

37 (HEM) ויסע וילך וישב סנחריב מלך אשור וישב בנינוה׃
37 (UKJV) So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, and went and returned, and dwelt at Nineveh.

38 (HEM) ויהי הוא משתחוה בית נסרך אלהיו ואדרמלך ושראצר בניו הכהו בחרב והמה נמלטו ארץ אררט וימלך אסר חדן בנו תחתיו׃
38 (UKJV) "And it came to pass, as he was worshipping in the house of Nisroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sharezer his sons stroke him with the sword; and they escaped into the land of Armenia: and Esarhaddon his son reigned in his position. "
