1 (UKJV) The burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz did see.
1 (HEM) משא בבל אשר חזה ישעיהו בן אמוץ׃
2 (UKJV) Lift all of you up a banner upon the high mountain, exalt the voice unto them, shake the hand, that they may go into the gates of the nobles.
2 (HEM) על הר נשפה שאו נס הרימו קול להם הניפו יד ויבאו פתחי נדיבים׃
3 (UKJV) I have commanded my sanctified ones, I have also called my mighty ones for mine anger, even them that rejoice in my highness.
3 (HEM) אני צויתי למקדשי גם קראתי גבורי לאפי עליזי גאותי׃
4 (UKJV) "The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like of a great people; a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together: the LORD of hosts musters the host of the battle. "
4 (HEM) קול המון בהרים דמות עם רב קול שאון ממלכות גוים נאספים יהוה צבאות מפקד צבא מלחמה׃
5 (UKJV) They come from a far country, from the end of heaven, even the LORD, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land.
5 (HEM) באים מארץ מרחק מקצה השמים יהוה וכלי זעמו לחבל כל הארץ׃
6 (UKJV) "Wail all of you; for the day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty. "
6 (HEM) הילילו כי קרוב יום יהוה כשד משדי יבוא׃
7 (UKJV) Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man's heart shall melt:
7 (HEM) על כן כל ידים תרפינה וכל לבב אנוש ימס׃
8 (UKJV) "And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that labors: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames. "
8 (HEM) ונבהלו צירים וחבלים יאחזון כיולדה יחילון איש אל רעהו יתמהו פני להבים פניהם׃
9 (UKJV) Behold, the day of the LORD comes, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.
9 (HEM) הנה יום יהוה בא אכזרי ועברה וחרון אף לשום הארץ לשמה וחטאיה ישמיד ממנה׃
10 (UKJV) For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.
10 (HEM) כי כוכבי השמים וכסיליהם לא יהלו אורם חשך השמש בצאתו וירח לא יגיה אורו׃
11 (UKJV) "And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible. "
11 (HEM) ופקדתי על תבל רעה ועל רשעים עונם והשבתי גאון זדים וגאות עריצים אשפיל׃
12 (UKJV) "I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir. "
12 (HEM) אוקיר אנוש מפז ואדם מכתם אופיר׃
13 (UKJV) Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.
13 (HEM) על כן שמים ארגיז ותרעש הארץ ממקומה בעברת יהוה צבאות וביום חרון אפו׃
14 (UKJV) And it shall be as the chased roe, and as a sheep that no man takes up: they shall every man turn to his own people, and flee every one into his own land.
14 (HEM) והיה כצבי מדח וכצאן ואין מקבץ איש אל עמו יפנו ואיש אל ארצו ינוסו׃
15 (UKJV) "Every one that is found shall be thrust through; and every one that is joined unto them shall fall by the sword. "
15 (HEM) כל הנמצא ידקר וכל הנספה יפול בחרב׃
16 (UKJV) "Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished. "
16 (HEM) ועלליהם ירטשו לעיניהם ישסו בתיהם ונשיהם תשגלנה׃
17 (UKJV) "Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, which shall not regard silver; and as for gold, they shall not delight in it. "
17 (HEM) הנני מעיר עליהם את מדי אשר כסף לא יחשבו וזהב לא יחפצו בו׃
18 (UKJV) "Their bows also shall dash the young men to pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eyes shall not spare children. "
18 (HEM) וקשתות נערים תרטשנה ופרי בטן לא ירחמו על בנים לא תחוס עינם׃
19 (UKJV) And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees' excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.
19 (HEM) והיתה בבל צבי ממלכות תפארת גאון כשדים כמהפכת אלהים את סדם ואת עמרה׃
20 (UKJV) "It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there; neither shall the shepherds make their fold there. "
20 (HEM) לא תשב לנצח ולא תשכן עד דור ודור ולא יהל שם ערבי ורעים לא ירבצו שם׃
21 (UKJV) "But wild beasts of the desert shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of doleful creatures; and owls shall dwell there, and satyrs shall dance there. "
21 (HEM) ורבצו שם ציים ומלאו בתיהם אחים ושכנו שם בנות יענה ושעירים ירקדו שם׃
22 (UKJV) And the wild beasts of the islands shall cry in their desolate houses, and dragons in their pleasant palaces: and her time is near to come, and her days shall not be prolonged.
22 (HEM) וענה איים באלמנותיו ותנים בהיכלי ענג וקרוב לבוא עתה וימיה לא ימשכו׃

Verš 10
For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.
Ez 32:7 - "And when I shall put you out, I will cover the heaven, and make the stars thereof dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give her light. "
Joe 2:31 - The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the LORD come.
Joe 3:15 - The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining.
Mt 24:29 - Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
Mk 13:24 - But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,
Lk 21:5 - And as some spoke of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and gifts, he said,

And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees' excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.
Gn 19:25 - And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.
Iz 1:9 - Except the LORD of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah.
Jer 49:18 - As in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbour cities thereof, says the LORD, no man shall abide there, neither shall a son of man dwell in it.
Jer 50:40 - "As God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbour cities thereof, says the LORD; so shall no man abide there, neither shall any son of man dwell therein. "
Iz 13,1 - Boh predstavil jeho prorockému zraku budúce spustošenie tohto mesta.
Iz 13,2 - Cez "brány kniežat" vchádzali do mesta len kráľ a jeho veľmoži. Teraz sa cez ne vrúti aj nepriateľské vojsko.
Iz 13,3 - "Boží zasvätenci" sú tí, ktorých Boh venoval, zasvätil úlohe potrestať Babylon.
Iz 13,10 - Tu opísaný súd nad Babylonom je zároveň predobrazom posledného súdu, preto sa tu uvádzajú niektoré zjavy, ktoré sa doslovne splnia až pri tomto súde.
Iz 13,12 - Krajinu Ofír hľadajú niektorí v Južnej Arábii, iní v Indii, zas iní na východnom pobreží Afriky oproti ostrovu Madagaskar.
Iz 13,14 - Cudzinci budú z Babylonu utekať, aby aj ich nezastihla pohroma (porov. 47,15).
Iz 13,17 - Kráľovstvo Médov bolo severovýchodne od Asýrsko-Babylonskej ríše. Perzský kráľ Kýros premohol r. 550 pr. Kr. médskeho kráľa Astyaga a pod svojou berlou zjednotil Kráľovstvá perzské a médske a vyvrátil Babylonskú ríšu r. 539 pr. Kr. Toto vyvrátenie predpovedá tu prorok, no nespomína Peržanov, len Médov, lebo títo vynikali ukrutnosťou. Nedali sa podplatiť, lebo korisť po vyhubení nepriateľského obyvateľstva i tak ostala im.
Iz 13,19-22 - Prorok predpovedá zánik starej babylonskej kultúry. Vysokú kultúru Babylonu potvrdzujú dnes vykopávky a klinopisné knižnice, ktoré našli v zrúcaninách.
