Iz 1, 1-31

1 (VUL) Visio Isaiae filii Amos, quam vidit super Iudam et Ierusalem in diebus Oziae, Ioatham, Achaz, Ezechiae regum Iudae.
1 (UKJV) The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.

2 (VUL) Audite, caeli, et auribus percipe, terra, quoniam Dominus locutus est: “ Filios enutrivi et exaltavi, ipsi autem spreverunt me.
2 (UKJV) Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for the LORD has spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me.

3 (VUL) Cognovit bos possessorem suum, et asinus praesepe domini sui; Israel non cognovit, populus meus non intellexit ”.
3 (UKJV) The ox knows his owner, and the ass his master's crib: but Israel does not know, my people does not consider.

4 (VUL) Vae genti peccatrici, populo gravi iniquitate, semini nequam, filiis sceleratis! Dereliquerunt Dominum, blasphemaverunt Sanctum Israel, abalienati sunt retrorsum.
4 (UKJV) Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.

5 (VUL) Super quo percutiemini vos ultra, addentes praevaricationem? Omne caput languidum, et omne cor maerens.
5 (UKJV) Why should all of you be stricken any more? all of you will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.

6 (VUL) A planta pedis usque ad verticem non est in eo sanitas; vulnus et livor et plaga tumens non est circumligata nec curata medicamine neque fota oleo.
6 (UKJV) "From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and rotting sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment. "

7 (VUL) Terra vestra deserta, civitates vestrae succensae igni; regionem vestram coram vobis alieni devorant, et desolabitur sicut in vastitate hostili.
7 (UKJV) Your country is desolate, your cities are burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.

8 (VUL) Et derelinquetur filia Sion ut umbraculum in vinea, sicut tugurium in cucumerario, sicut civitas, quae obsessa est.
8 (UKJV) And the daughter of Zion is left as a cottage in a vineyard, as a lodge in a garden of cucumbers, as a besieged city.

9 (VUL) Nisi Dominus exercituum reliquisset nobis semen, quasi Sodoma fuissemus et quasi Gomorra similes essemus.
9 (UKJV) Except the LORD of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah.

10 (VUL) Audite verbum Domini, principes Sodomorum; percipite auribus legem Dei nostri, populus Gomorrae.
10 (UKJV) "Hear the word of the LORD, all of you rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, all of you people of Gomorrah. "

11 (VUL) “ Quo mihi multitudinem victimarum vestrarum?, dicit Dominus. Plenus sum holocaustis arietum et adipe pinguium; et sanguinem vitulorum et agnorum et hircorum nolui.
11 (UKJV) "To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? says the LORD: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats. "

12 (VUL) Cum veneritis ante conspectum meum, quis quaesivit haec de manibus vestris, ut ambularetis in atriis meis?
12 (UKJV) When all of you come to appear before me, who has required this at your hand, to tread my courts?

13 (VUL) Ne afferatis ultra sacrificium vanum; abominatio mihi incensum, neomenia et sabbatum et conventus; non feram scelus cum coetu sollemni;
13 (UKJV) "Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting. "

14 (VUL) calendas vestras et sollemnitates vestras odivit anima mea, facta sunt mihi molesta, laboravi sustinens.
14 (UKJV) "Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hates: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them. "

15 (VUL) Et cum extenderitis manus vestras, avertam oculos meos a vobis; et cum multiplicaveritis orationem, non exaudiam: manus enim vestrae sanguine plenae sunt.
15 (UKJV) And when all of you spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when all of you make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.

16 (VUL) Lavamini, mundi estote, auferte malum cogitationum vestrarum ab oculis meis; quiescite agere perverse,
16 (UKJV) "Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil; "

17 (VUL) discite benefacere: quaerite iudicium, subvenite oppresso, iudicate pupillo, defendite viduam.
17 (UKJV) "Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow. "

18 (VUL) Et venite, et iudicio contendamus, dicit Dominus. Si fuerint peccata vestra ut coccinum, quasi nix dealbabuntur; et, si fuerint rubra quasi vermiculus, velut lana erunt.
18 (UKJV) "Come now, and let us reason together, says the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. "

19 (VUL) Si volueritis et audieritis, bona terrae comedetis;
19 (UKJV) If all of you be willing and obedient, all of you shall eat the good of the land:

20 (VUL) quod si nolueritis et me ad iracundiam provocaveritis, gladius devorabit vos, quia os Domini locutum est ”.
20 (UKJV) But if all of you refuse and rebel, all of you shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD has spoken it.

21 (VUL) Quomodo facta est meretrix civitas fidelis, plena iudicii? Iustitia habitavit in ea, nunc autem homicidae.
21 (UKJV) "How is the faithful city become an harlot! it was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers. "

22 (VUL) Argentum tuum versum est in scoriam, vinum tuum mixtum est aqua;
22 (UKJV) Your silver is become dross, your wine mixed with water:

23 (VUL) principes tui infideles, socii furum: omnes diligunt munera, sequuntur retributiones, pupillo non iudicant, et causa viduae non ingreditur ad illos.
23 (UKJV) Your princes are rebellious, and companions of thieves: every one loves gifts, and follows after rewards: they judge not the fatherless, neither does the cause of the widow come unto them.

24 (VUL) Propter hoc ait Dominus, Deus exercituum, Fortis Israel: “ Heu, consolabor super hostibus meis et vindicabor de inimicis meis.
24 (UKJV) Therefore says the LORD, the LORD of hosts, the mighty One of Israel, Ah, I will ease me of mine adversaries, and avenge me of mine enemies:

25 (VUL) Et convertam manum meam ad te et excoquam ad purum scoriam tuam et auferam omne stannum tuum.
25 (UKJV) And I will turn my hand upon you, and thoroughly purge away your dross, and take away all your tin:

26 (VUL) Et restituam iudices tuos, ut fuerunt prius, et consiliarios tuos sicut antiquitus; post haec vocaberis Civitas iustitiae, Urbs fidelis ”.
26 (UKJV) And I will restore your judges as at the first, and your counsellors as at the beginning: afterward you shall be called, The city of righteousness, the faithful city.

27 (VUL) Sion in iudicio redimetur et, qui in ea reversi sunt, in iustitia.
27 (UKJV) Zion shall be redeemed with judgment, and her converts with righteousness.

28 (VUL) Erit autem ruina scelestis et peccatoribus simul; et, qui dereliquerunt Dominum, consumentur.
28 (UKJV) And the destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners shall be together, and they that forsake the LORD shall be consumed.

29 (VUL) Confundemini enim terebinthis, in quibus delectati estis, et erubescetis super hortis, quos elegistis.
29 (UKJV) For they shall be ashamed of the oaks which all of you have desired, and all of you shall be confounded for the gardens that all of you have chosen.

30 (VUL) Nam eritis velut quercus, defluentibus foliis, et velut hortus absque aqua;
30 (UKJV) For all of you shall be as an oak whose leaf fades, and as a garden that has no water.

31 (VUL) et erit fortitudo vestra ut favilla stuppae, et opus eius quasi scintilla, et succendetur utrumque simul, et non erit qui exstinguat.
31 (UKJV) And the strong shall be as tow, and the maker of it as a spark, and they shall both burn together, and none shall quench them.

Terra vestra deserta, civitates vestrae succensae igni; regionem vestram coram vobis alieni devorant, et desolabitur sicut in vastitate hostili.

Jer 5:28 - incrassati sunt et impinguati: et transgressi sunt terminos mali. Causam non iudicaverunt, causam pupilli, ut ipsi prospere agant, et iudicium pauperum non iudicaverunt.

Propter hoc ait Dominus, Deus exercituum, Fortis Israel: “ Heu, consolabor super hostibus meis et vindicabor de inimicis meis.
Dt 28:63 - Et sicut ante laetatus est Dominus super vos bene vobis faciens vosque multiplicans, sic laetabitur super vos disperdens vos atque subvertens, ut auferamini de terra, ad quam ingredieris possidendam.

Et convertam manum meam ad te et excoquam ad purum scoriam tuam et auferam omne stannum tuum.
Jer 6:29 - Sufflavit sufflatorium in igne, consumptum est plumbum; frustra conflavit conflator, scoriae enim non sunt separatae.

Iz 1,1 - O Izaiášovi, o jeho otcovi aj o kráľoch, ktorí sa v tomto verši spomínajú, bližšie v úvode k prorokovi Izaiášovi. O prorockých videniach v spoločnom úvode do prorockých kníh.

Iz 1,4 - Izaiáš často dáva Bohu meno "Svätý Izraela". V iných knihách je tento názov zriedkavý.

Iz 1,8 - Na hore Sion stálo Dávidovo mesto (porov. 2 Sam 5,7–9) s kráľovským palácom, preto sa celý Jeruzalem často volá Sionom. Krajiny a mestá pokladali staré východné národy semitské za ženské bytosti, preto im dávali prímenie: "dcéra", kvitnúce dievča. Po spustošení ostatných miest trčí Jeruzalem uprostred krajiny ako opustené koliby na poli v jeseni po zobraní úrody.

Iz 1,9 - Proroci často prízvukujú, že sa z vyvoleného národa zachránia len zvyšky (Iz 10,21 n.; Am 3,12; Mich 7,18; Jer 30,11; Ez 5,3; Sof 3,13 atď.). Aj do Cirkvi vstúpila len malá čiastka tohto národa. V tomto zmysle cituje tento verš sv. Pavol (Rim 9,29).

Iz 1,10 - Prorok nebojácne a právom prirovnáva ľud a jeho kniežatá k obyvateľom Sodomy a Gomory.

Iz 1,11-15 - Izraeliti prinášali v jeruzalemskom chráme Pánovi obety, ale prinášali ich bez nábožného ducha; takéto obety nie sú Pánovi ľúbeznou vôňou, ale dymom. Kto prichádzal do chrámu bez pobožnosti, zbytočne rozšliapaval jeho nádvoria. Ľud mal prístup len do nádvoria, do samého chrámu smeli len kňazi a do veľsvätyne len veľkňaz, aj to len raz do roka na Deň zmierenia. – Bolo zvykom modliť sa s roztiahnutými rukami. Ruky plné krvi sú nielen ruky vrahov, ale i ruky všetkých, čo hrešia proti láske k blížnemu a vôbec ruky hriešnikov.

Iz 1,18 - Boh vo Svätom písme často volá hriešnikov, aby sa s ním išli pravotiť. Je prirodzené, že by takúto pravotu len Boh mohol vyhrať. – Červená farba, farba krvi, je aj farbou hriechu (porov. v. 15, tiež Ž 51,16). Šarlátovú farbu získavali z výrastkov na listoch akéhosi duba (Quercus coccifera), zapríčinených voškami, ktoré na listy duba kladú vajíčka. Purpur dostávali z tela slimákovitých živočíchov. Tu však vlastne ani nie je reč o purpure. Prorok dva razy spomína šarlát: raz šarlátovú farbu a raz červíčka, vošku, ktorá farbu dodáva.

Iz 1,21 - Zmluva, ktorú Boh uzavrel s národom, často sa predstavuje ako zmluva manželská: Boh je manžel, národ manželka (Oz hl. 1 – 13; Jer hl. 2 n.; Ez hl. 16; celá Veľpieseň: porov. Ef 5,23–32). Izrael sa dopúšťa cudzoložstva, keď slúži cudzím bohom, alebo ináč prestupuje Boží zákon, pretože porušuje manželskú vernosť.

Iz 1,24 - Vo Svätom písme sa Bohu často pripisujú ľudské city, ako tu pomsta, hoci on netresce z pomsty, ale zo spravodlivosti.

Iz 1,25 - Boh vyhubí z národa, čo je bezcenné, hriešne, a zachráni, čo je spravodlivé.

Iz 1,27 - Rozumej: Na národ príde Božie dopustenie, ale Boh zachráni tých, čo sa obrátia, a zahynú len hriešnici.

Iz 1,29 - Kanaánski pohania a podľa ich príkladu často aj Izraeliti konali modloslužbu pod košatými stromami, najmä terebintami, a v posvätných záhradách a hájoch.
