1 (UKJV) For all this I considered in my heart even to declare all this, that the righteous, and the wise, and their works, are in the hand of God: no man knows either love or hatred by all that is before them.
1 (ROH) Lebo to všetko som priložil k svojmu srdcu, a to aby som vysvetlil všetko to, že spravedliví a múdri jako aj ich skutky sú v ruke Božej, i láska i nenávisť. Človek nevie o ničom, čo je pred ktorým.

2 (UKJV) "All things come alike to all: there is one event to the righteous, and to the wicked; to the good and to the clean, and to the unclean; to him that sacrifices, and to him that sacrifices not: as is the good, so is the sinner; and he that swears, as he that fears an oath. "
2 (ROH) Všetko deje sa jednako všetkým. Jedna a tá istá príhoda sa prihodí spravedlivému a bezbožnému, dobrému a čistému i nečistému, tomu, kto obetuje, i tomu, kto neobetuje, jako dobrému tak i hrešiacemu, tomu, kto prisahá, jako i tomu, kto sa bojí prísahy.

3 (UKJV) This is an evil among all things that are done under the sun, that there is one event unto all: yea, also the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness is in their heart while they live, and after that they go to the dead.
3 (ROH) To je zlo, a je pri všetkom, čo sa deje pod slnkom, lebo jedna a tá istá príhoda prihodí sa všetkým, a k tomu aj srdce synov človeka je plné zlého, a šialenstvo je v ich srdci, kým len žijú, a potom k mŕtvym.

4 (UKJV) In order to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion.
4 (ROH) Lebo kde kto je z toho vyňatý? No, u všetkých živých je ešte vždy nádej, lebo je lepšie živému psu ako mŕtvemu ľvu.

5 (UKJV) "For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. "
5 (ROH) Lebo živí vedia, že zomrú; ale mŕtvi nevedia ničoho ani nemajú viacej nijakej odplaty, lebo sa zabudla ich pamiatka.

6 (UKJV) "Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun. "
6 (ROH) Aj ich láska aj ich nenávisť aj ich revnivosť už dávno zahynula, a nemajú viacej nijakého podielu na veky v ničom tom, čo sa deje pod slnkom.

7 (UKJV) "Go your way, eat your bread with joy, and drink your wine with a merry heart; for God now accepts your works. "
7 (ROH) Iď, teda, jedz svoj chlieb v radosti a pi svoje víno veselým srdcom, lebo už dávno si Bôh obľúbil tvoje skutky.

8 (UKJV) "Let your garments be always white; and let your head lack no ointment. "
8 (ROH) Tvoje rúcho nech je každého času biele, a oleja na tvojej hlave nech nie je nedostatok.

9 (UKJV) Live joyfully with the wife whom you love all the days of the life of your vanity, which he has given you under the sun, all the days of your vanity: for that is your portion in this life, and in your labour which you take under the sun.
9 (ROH) Užívaj život so svojou ženou, ktorú miluješ, po všetky dni života svojej márnosti, ktoré ti dal Bôh pod slnkom, po všetky dni svojej márnosti, lebo to je tvoj podiel v živote a v tvojej práci, ktorou sa trudíš pod slnkom.

10 (UKJV) "Whatsoever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, where you go. "
10 (ROH) Všetko, čo najde tvoja ruka robiť v tvojej sile, rob; lebo neni diela ani výmyslu ani vedomosti ani múdrosti v ríši mŕtvych, kam ideš.

11 (UKJV) "I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happens to them all. "
11 (ROH) A zase obrátiac sa videl som pod slnkom, že nie je beh vecou rýchlych ani boj udatných ako ani živnosť múdrych ani bohatstvo rozumných ani priazeň umných, ale čas a náhoda prihodí sa všetkým.

12 (UKJV) "For man also knows not his time: as the fishes that are taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the snare; so are the sons of men snared in an evil time, when it falls suddenly upon them. "
12 (ROH) Lebo človek ani nezná svojho času jako ryby, ktoré sa chytajú do zhubnej siete, a jako vtáci, chytaní do osídla, tak podobne bývajú lapení synovia človeka na zlý čas, keď náhle pripáda na nich.

13 (UKJV) This wisdom have I seen also under the sun, and it seemed great unto me:
13 (ROH) Aj túto múdrosť som videl pod slnkom, a bola veľká u mňa.

14 (UKJV) "There was a little city, and few men within it; and there came a great king against it, and besieged it, and built great bulwarks against it: "
14 (ROH) Bolo malé mesto a mužov v ňom málo, a prišiel proti nemu veľký kráľ a obľahol ho dookola a vystavil proti nemu veľké bašty.

15 (UKJV) "Now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; yet no man remembered that same poor man. "
15 (ROH) Ale našiel v ňom chudobného muža múdreho, a ten vyslobodil mesto svojou múdrosťou, hoci nikto nepamätal na toho chudobného muža.

16 (UKJV) Then said I, Wisdom is better than strength: nevertheless the poor man's wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard.
16 (ROH) Preto som povedal: Lepšia je múdrosť ako sila; ale múdrosť chudobného je opovrhnutá, a jeho slová sa nečujú.

17 (UKJV) The words of wise men are heard in quiet more than the cry of him that rules among fools.
17 (ROH) Slová múdrych, počuté v pokoji, sú viac ako krik toho, kto panuje medzi bláznami.

18 (UKJV) Wisdom is better than weapons of war: but one sinner destroys much good.
18 (ROH) Múdrosť je lepšia ako vojenné nástroje; ale jeden hriešnik zahubí mnoho dobrého.
