1 (UKJV) I said in mine heart, Go to now, I will prove you with delight, therefore enjoy pleasure: and, behold, this also is vanity.
1 (ROH) Povedal som si vo svojom srdci: Nože teda idi, zkúsim ťa radosťou, a vidz a užívaj dobré! Ale hľa, i to je márnosť.

2 (UKJV) I said of laughter, It is mad: and of delight, What does it?
2 (ROH) Smiechu som povedal: Nerozum, a radosti: Čo to robíš?

3 (UKJV) "I sought in mine heart to give myself unto wine, yet acquainting mine heart with wisdom; and to lay hold on folly, till I might see what was that good for the sons of men, which they should do under the heaven all the days of their life. "
3 (ROH) Rozmýšľal som vo svojom srdci, že budem povoľovať svojmu telu pri víne spravujúc pri tom svoje srdce múdrosťou a že sa budem držať bláznovstva dovtedy, dokiaľ neuvidím, čo je dobré synom človeka, čo by mali robiť pod nebom, v tom malom počte dní svojho života.

4 (UKJV) "I made me great works; I built me houses; I planted me vineyards: "
4 (ROH) Vykonal som si veľké diela; nastaväl som si domov, povysádzal som si vinice,

5 (UKJV) I made me gardens and orchards, and I planted trees in them of all kind of fruits:
5 (ROH) narobil som si zahrád a sadov a nasadil som v nich stromov všelijakého ovocia;

6 (UKJV) I made me pools of water, to water therewith the wood that brings forth trees:
6 (ROH) narobil som si jazier, aby som z nich zvlažoval les rastúcich stromov.

7 (UKJV) "I got me servants and maidens, and had servants born in my house; also I had great possessions of great and small cattle above all that were in Jerusalem before me: "
7 (ROH) Nadovážil som si sluhov a slúžek a mal som čeľaď, zrodenú doma, i dobytka, hoviad a drobného stáda som mal mnoho, nad všetkých, ktorí boli predo mnou v Jeruzaleme.

8 (UKJV) I gathered me also silver and gold, and the exclusive treasure of kings and of the provinces: I got me men singers and women singers, and the delights of the sons of men, as musical instruments, and that of all sorts.
8 (ROH) Nashromaždil som si aj striebra a zlata a vlastníctva kráľov a krajín; zaopatril som si spevákov a speváčky a iné rozkoše synov človeka, ženu i ženy.

9 (UKJV) So I was great, and increased more than all that were before me in Jerusalem: also my wisdom remained with me.
9 (ROH) A bol som veľký a vše väčší, nad všetkých, ktorí boli predo mnou v Jeruzaleme, a tomu mi stála i moja múdrosť po ruke.

10 (UKJV) "And whatsoever mine eyes desired I kept not from them, I withheld not my heart from any joy; for my heart rejoiced in all my labour: and this was my portion of all my labour. "
10 (ROH) A všetko, čo si len zažiadaly moje oči, ničoho som im neodoprel; nezdržal som svojho srdca od nijakej radosti, lebo moje srdce sa radovalo zo všetkej mojej práce, a to bol môj podiel zo všetkej mojej práce.

11 (UKJV) Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had laboured to do: and, behold, all was vanity and vexation of spirit, and there was no profit under the sun.
11 (ROH) Ale keď som sa obrátil, aby som sa podíval na všetky svoje diela, ktoré konaly moje ruky, a na prácu, ktorou som sa trudil, hľa, všetko to bola márnosť a honba po vetre, a videl som, že niet užitku pod slnkom.

12 (UKJV) And I turned myself to behold wisdom, and madness, and folly: for what can the man do that comes after the king? even that which has been already done.
12 (ROH) Potom som sa obrátil, aby som videl múdrosť, nerozum a bláznovstvo. Lebo čo dokáže človek, ktorý prijde po kráľovi? Len to, čo už iní dávno vykonali.

13 (UKJV) Then I saw that wisdom excels folly, as far as light excels darkness.
13 (ROH) A videl som, že je užitočnejšia múdrosť ako bláznovstvo, jako je užitočnejšie svetlo ako tma.

14 (UKJV) "The wise man's eyes are in his head; but the fool walks in darkness: and I myself perceived also that one event happens to them all. "
14 (ROH) Múdry má svoje oči vo svojej hlave, a blázon chodí vo tme. Ale som poznal i to, že jeden a ten istý osud stíha ich všetkých.

15 (UKJV) "Then said I in my heart, As it happens to the fool, so it happens even to me; and why was I then more wise? Then I said in my heart, that this also is vanity. "
15 (ROH) Preto som povedal vo svojom srdci: Keďže to, čo sa prihodí bláznovi, prihodí sa aj mne, načože som ja vtedy bol múdrejší? A povedal som vo svojom srdci, že i to je márnosť.

16 (UKJV) "For there is no remembrance of the wise more than of the fool for ever; seeing that which now is in the days to come shall all be forgotten. And how dies the wise man? as the fool. "
16 (ROH) Lebo nie je na veky pamäti ani múdremu ani bláznovi, pretože už v budúcich dňoch sa dávno všetko zabudne. A jako zomiera múdry rovnako jako blázon!

17 (UKJV) "Therefore I hated life; because the work that is wrought under the sun is grievous unto me: for all is vanity and vexation of spirit. "
17 (ROH) A tak som nenávidel život, pretože sa mi protivilo všetko to, čo sa deje pod slnkom, lebo je všetko márnosť a honba po vetre.

18 (UKJV) Yea, I hated all my labour which I had taken under the sun: because I should leave it unto the man that shall be after me.
18 (ROH) Nenávidel som všetku svoju prácu, ktorou som sa trudil pod slnkom, pretože ju zanechám človekovi, ktorý bude po mne.

19 (UKJV) And who knows whether he shall be a wise man or a fool? yet shall he have rule over all my labour wherein I have laboured, and wherein I have showed myself wise under the sun. This is also vanity.
19 (ROH) A kto vie, či bude múdry a či blázon? A bude vládnuť nad všetkou mojou prácou, ktorou som sa trudil a ktorú som konal múdry pod slnkom. Aj to je márnosť.

20 (UKJV) Therefore I went about to cause my heart to despair of all the labour which I took under the sun.
20 (ROH) Potom som sa obrátil, aby som dal svojmu srdcu zúfať si nad všetkou prácou, ktorou som sa trudil pod slnkom.

21 (UKJV) "For there is a man whose labour is in wisdom, and in knowledge, and in equity; yet to a man that has not laboured therein shall he leave it for his portion. This also is vanity and a great evil. "
21 (ROH) Lebo niektorý človek robí svoju prácu múdre a umne a so zdarom, a človekovi, ktorý sa ňou netrudil, ju dáva za jeho podiel. Aj to je márnosť a veľké zlo.

22 (UKJV) For what has man of all his labour, and of the vexation of his heart, wherein he has laboured under the sun?
22 (ROH) Lebo veď čo má človek zo všetkej svojej trudnej práce a z trápenia svojho srdca, čím sa trudí pod slnkom?!

23 (UKJV) "For all his days are sorrows, and his travail grief; yea, his heart takes not rest in the night. This is also vanity. "
23 (ROH) Lebo všetky jeho dni sú plné bolesti a jeho zamestnanie iba hnev, ani len vnoci neodpočíva jeho srdce. A to je márnosť.

24 (UKJV) There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God.
24 (ROH) Nieto ničoho lepšieho pre človeka, než aby jedol a pil a dal vidieť svojej duši dobré zo svojej práce. Ale aj to som ja videl, že to pochádza z ruky Božej.

25 (UKJV) For who can eat, or who else can hasten hereunto, more than I?
25 (ROH) Lebo ktože by skôr jedol a kto užíval krome mňa?

26 (UKJV) For God gives to a man that is good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner he gives travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to him that is good before God. This also is vanity and vexation of spirit.
26 (ROH) Lebo človekovi, ktorý je dobrý pred ním, dáva múdrosť, vedomosť a radosť, a hriešnikovi dáva zamestnanie, aby sberal a shromažďoval, aby to potom dal tomu, kto je dobrý pred Bohom. Aj to je márnosť a honba po vetre.
