Kaz 2, 1-26

1 (CPDV) I said in my heart: “I will go forth and overflow with delights, and I will enjoy good things.” And I saw that this, too, is emptiness.
1 (HEM) אמרתי אני בלבי לכה נא אנסכה בשמחה וראה בטוב והנה גם הוא הבל׃

2 (CPDV) Laughter, I considered an error. And to rejoicing, I said: “Why are you being deceived, to no purpose?”
2 (HEM) לשחוק אמרתי מהולל ולשמחה מה זה עשה׃

3 (CPDV) I decided in my heart to withdraw my flesh from wine, so that I might bring my mind to wisdom, and turn away from foolishness, until I see what is useful for the sons of men, and what they ought to do under the sun, during the number of the days of their life.
3 (HEM) תרתי בלבי למשוך ביין את בשרי ולבי נהג בחכמה ולאחז בסכלות עד אשר אראה אי זה טוב לבני האדם אשר יעשו תחת השמים מספר ימי חייהם׃

4 (CPDV) I magnified my works. I built houses for myself, and I planted vineyards.
4 (HEM) הגדלתי מעשי בניתי לי בתים נטעתי לי כרמים׃

5 (CPDV) I made gardens and orchards. And I planted them with trees of every kind.
5 (HEM) עשיתי לי גנות ופרדסים ונטעתי בהם עץ כל פרי׃

6 (CPDV) And I dug out fishponds of water, so that I might irrigate the forest of growing trees.
6 (HEM) עשיתי לי ברכות מים להשקות מהם יער צומח עצים׃

7 (CPDV) I obtained men and women servants, and I had a great family, as well as herds of cattle and great flocks of sheep, beyond all who were before me in Jerusalem.
7 (HEM) קניתי עבדים ושפחות ובני בית היה לי גם מקנה בקר וצאן הרבה היה לי מכל שהיו לפני בירושלם׃

8 (CPDV) I amassed for myself silver and gold, and the wealth of kings and governors. I chose men and women singers, and the delights of the sons of men, bowls and pitchers for the purpose of pouring wine.
8 (HEM) כנסתי לי גם כסף וזהב וסגלת מלכים והמדינות עשיתי לי שרים ושרות ותענוגת בני האדם שדה ושדות׃

9 (CPDV) And I surpassed in opulence all who were before me in Jerusalem. My wisdom also persevered with me.
9 (HEM) וגדלתי והוספתי מכל שהיה לפני בירושלם אף חכמתי עמדה לי׃

10 (CPDV) And all that my eyes desired, I did not refuse them. Neither did I prohibit my heart from enjoying every pleasure, and from amusing itself in the things that I had prepared. And I regarded this as my share, as if I were making use of my own labors.
10 (HEM) וכל אשר שאלו עיני לא אצלתי מהם לא מנעתי את לבי מכל שמחה כי לבי שמח מכל עמלי וזה היה חלקי מכל עמלי׃

11 (CPDV) But when I turned myself toward all the works that my hands had made, and to the labors in which I had perspired to no purpose, I saw emptiness and affliction of the soul in all things, and that nothing is permanent under the sun.
11 (HEM) ופניתי אני בכל מעשי שעשו ידי ובעמל שעמלתי לעשות והנה הכל הבל ורעות רוח ואין יתרון תחת השמש׃

12 (CPDV) I continued on, so as to contemplate wisdom, as well as error and foolishness. “What is man,” I said, “that he would be able to follow his Maker, the King?”
12 (HEM) ופניתי אני לראות חכמה והוללות וסכלות כי מה האדם שיבוא אחרי המלך את אשר כבר עשוהו׃

13 (CPDV) And I saw that wisdom surpasses foolishness, so much so that they differ as much as light from darkness.
13 (HEM) וראיתי אני שיש יתרון לחכמה מן הסכלות כיתרון האור מן החשך׃

14 (CPDV) The eyes of a wise man are in his head. A foolish man walks in darkness. Yet I learned that one would pass away like the other.
14 (HEM) החכם עיניו בראשו והכסיל בחשך הולך וידעתי גם אני שמקרה אחד יקרה את כלם׃

15 (CPDV) And I said in my heart: “If the death of both the foolish and myself will be one, how does it benefit me, if I have given myself more thoroughly to the work of wisdom?” And as I was speaking within my own mind, I perceived that this, too, is emptiness.
15 (HEM) ואמרתי אני בלבי כמקרה הכסיל גם אני יקרני ולמה חכמתי אני אז יותר ודברתי בלבי שגם זה הבל׃

16 (CPDV) For there will not be a remembrance in perpetuity of the wise, nor of the foolish. And the future times will cover everything together, with oblivion. The learned die in a manner similar to the unlearned.
16 (HEM) כי אין זכרון לחכם עם הכסיל לעולם בשכבר הימים הבאים הכל נשכח ואיך ימות החכם עם הכסיל׃

17 (CPDV) And, because of this, my life wearied me, since I saw that everything under the sun is evil, and everything is empty and an affliction of the spirit.
17 (HEM) ושנאתי את החיים כי רע עלי המעשה שנעשה תחת השמש כי הכל הבל ורעות רוח׃

18 (CPDV) Again, I detested all my efforts, by which I had earnestly labored under the sun, to be taken up by an heir after me,
18 (HEM) ושנאתי אני את כל עמלי שאני עמל תחת השמש שאניחנו לאדם שיהיה אחרי׃

19 (CPDV) though I know not whether he will be wise or foolish. And yet he will have power over my labors, in which I have toiled and been anxious. And is there anything else so empty?
19 (HEM) ומי יודע החכם יהיה או סכל וישלט בכל עמלי שעמלתי ושחכמתי תחת השמש גם זה הבל׃

20 (CPDV) Therefore, I ceased, and my heart renounced further laboring under the sun.
20 (HEM) וסבותי אני ליאש את לבי על כל העמל שעמלתי תחת השמש׃

21 (CPDV) For when someone labors in wisdom, and doctrine, and prudence, he leaves behind what he has obtained to one who is idle. So this, too, is emptiness and a great burden.
21 (HEM) כי יש אדם שעמלו בחכמה ובדעת ובכשרון ולאדם שלא עמל בו יתננו חלקו גם זה הבל ורעה רבה׃

22 (CPDV) For how can a man benefit from all his labor and affliction of spirit, by which he has been tormented under the sun?
22 (HEM) כי מה הוה לאדם בכל עמלו וברעיון לבו שהוא עמל תחת השמש׃

23 (CPDV) All his days have been filled with sorrows and hardships; neither does he rest his mind, even in the night. And is this not emptiness?
23 (HEM) כי כל ימיו מכאבים וכעס ענינו גם בלילה לא שכב לבו גם זה הבל הוא׃

24 (CPDV) Is it not better to eat and drink, and to show his soul the good things of his labors? And this is from the hand of God.
24 (HEM) אין טוב באדם שיאכל ושתה והראה את נפשו טוב בעמלו גם זה ראיתי אני כי מיד האלהים היא׃

25 (CPDV) So who will feast and overflow with delights as much as I have?
25 (HEM) כי מי יאכל ומי יחוש חוץ ממני׃

26 (CPDV) God has given, to the man who is good in his sight, wisdom, and knowledge, and rejoicing. But to the sinner, he has given affliction and needless worrying, so as to add, 358 and to gather, and to deliver, to him who has pleased God. But this, too, is emptiness and a hollow worrying of the mind.
26 (HEM) כי לאדם שטוב לפניו נתן חכמה ודעת ושמחה ולחוטא נתן ענין לאסוף ולכנוס לתת לטוב לפני האלהים גם זה הבל ורעות רוח׃

Verš 24
Is it not better to eat and drink, and to show his soul the good things of his labors? And this is from the hand of God.
Kaz 3:12 - And I realize that there is nothing better than to rejoice, and to do well in this life.
Kaz 3:22 - And I have discovered nothing to be better than for a man to rejoice in his work: for this is his portion. And who shall add to him, so that he may know the things that will occur after him?
Kaz 5:19 - And then he will not fully remember the days of his life, because God occupies his heart with delights.
Kaz 8:15 - And so, I praised rejoicing, because there was no good for a man under the sun, except to eat and drink, and to be cheerful, and because he may take nothing with him from his labor in the days of his life, which God has given to him under the sun.

Lk 12:19 - And I will say to my soul: Soul, you have many goods, stored up for many years. Relax, eat, drink, and be cheerful.’

Jób 27:16 - If he will amass silver as if it were dirt and fabricate garments as if they were clay,
Prís 28:8 - Whoever piles up riches by usury and profit gathers them for him who will give freely to the poor.
Kaz 3:13 - For this is a gift from God: when each man eats and drinks, and sees the good results of his labor.

I continued on, so as to contemplate wisdom, as well as error and foolishness. “What is man,” I said, “that he would be able to follow his Maker, the King?”
Kaz 1:17 - And I have dedicated my heart, so that I may know prudence and doctrine, and also error and foolishness. Yet I recognize that, in these things also, there is hardship, and affliction of the spirit.
Kaz 7:23 - For your conscience knows that you, too, have repeatedly spoken evil of others.

Verš 22
For how can a man benefit from all his labor and affliction of spirit, by which he has been tormented under the sun?
Kaz 1:3 - What more does a man have from all his labor, as he labors under the sun?
Kaz 3:9 - What more does a man have from his labor?

Kaz 2,3 - "Vínom potúžiť" – Vg má: "zdržovať sa od vína". Hebrejské slovo "mašak" môže znamenať 1) odtiahnuť, 2) udržať, posilniť. Prijímame tento druhý význam pre lepšiu súvislosť.

Kaz 2,4-9 - Opis boháča čerpá viac podrobnosti zo života historického kráľa Šalamúna. O stavbách Šalamúnových porov. 1 Kr hl. 6, 7, 9, 10.

Kaz 2,8 - "Množstvo žien" – to nie je celkom spoľahlivý preklad. Vulgáta má: "poháre a džbánky". Ale ani preklad grécky nie je azda rozhodujúci ("ustanovil som si mnoho výčapníkov a výčapníčok"). V tých krajinách bolo známkou bohatstva, keď sa niektorý veľmož mohol pochváliť čo najväčším počtom vedľajších žien (porov. 1 Kr 11,3). O poplatných kráľoch Šalamúnových porov. 1 Kr 5,1; 10,15. O poplatkoch palestínskych krajov porov. 1 Kr 4,7–20.

Kaz 2,12 - Tak sa zdá, že prvá časť verša podáva obsah v. 13–17, kým druhá časť naznačuje obsah v. 18–23. Kazateľ tu vystupuje ako kráľ. Miesto je nejasné pre poruchu hebr. osnovy, ktorú už aj grécky prekladateľ tak našiel.

Kaz 2,14 - Je najskôr porekadlo, ako keď my hovoríme o niekom, že má otvorené oči.

Kaz 2,24 - Vg.: "Či nie je lepšie jesť a piť a dopriať svojej duši dobrých vecí zo svojich prác?" Jesť a piť je obraz dovolených radostí života. Taká rada je v podstate čestná.

Kaz 2,25 - Porov. Prís 13,22; Jób 27,16 n.
