1 (HEM) זבובי מות יבאיש יביע שמן רוקח יקר מחכמה מכבוד סכלות מעט׃
1 (VUL) Muscae morientes perdunt et corrumpunt oleum unguentarii. Gravior quam sapientia et gloria est parva stultitia.
1 (KAT) (ako keď) zahynie mucha, zapácha a kysne od nej aj olej mastičkárov. Trochu nemúdrosti má väčší účinok ako múdrosť a dôstojnosť.
1 (UKJV) Dead flies cause the ointment of the apothecary to send forth a stinking savour: so does a little folly him that is in reputation for wisdom and honour.

2 (HEM) לב חכם לימינו ולב כסיל לשמאלו׃
2 (VUL) Cor sapientis in dextera eius, et cor stulti in sinistra illius.
2 (KAT) Srdce múdreho je na pravej strane, srdce pochabého však na ľavej.
2 (UKJV) "A wise man's heart is at his right hand; but a fool's heart at his left. "

3 (HEM) וגם בדרך כשהסכל הלך לבו חסר ואמר לכל סכל הוא׃

3 (KAT) Aj na ceste, ktorou nemúdry kráča, trpí jeho srdce nedostatkom a všetkým pripomína: „Tu je sprosták!“

4 (HEM) אם רוח המושל תעלה עליך מקומך אל תנח כי מרפא יניח חטאים גדולים׃

4 (KAT) Ak sa dvíha proti tebe aj nevôľa vladára, neopúšťaj svoje miesto! Lebo krotkosť utišuje aj veľké hriechy.

5 (HEM) יש רעה ראיתי תחת השמש כשגגה שיצא מלפני השליט׃
5 (VUL) Est malum, quod vidi sub sole quasi errorem egredientem a facie principis:
5 (KAT) Je aj iné zlo, ktoré som videl pod slnkom: (je to) nerozvážne slovo, ktoré vyjde z vladárových úst,
5 (UKJV) There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, as an error which proceeds from the ruler:

6 (HEM) נתן הסכל במרומים רבים ועשירים בשפל ישבו׃
6 (VUL) positum stultum in dignitate sublimi et divites sedere deorsum.
6 (KAT) ak nemúdreho ustanovia na vysoké miesta, kým vznešení ostávajú sedieť v nízkosti.
6 (UKJV) Folly is set in great dignity, and the rich sit in low place.

7 (HEM) ראיתי עבדים על סוסים ושרים הלכים כעבדים על הארץ׃
7 (VUL) Vidi servos in equis et principes ambulantes super terram quasi servos.
7 (KAT) Videl som otrokov (velebiť sa) na koňoch, kým kniežatá šli po zemi ako otroci.
7 (UKJV) I have seen servants upon horses, and princes walking as servants upon the earth.

8 (HEM) חפר גומץ בו יפול ופרץ גדר ישכנו נחש׃
8 (VUL) Qui fodit foveam, incidet in eam; et, qui dissipat murum, mordebit eum coluber.
8 (KAT) Kto kope jamu, padne do nej a kto borí múr, uštipne ho had.
8 (UKJV) "He that digs a pit shall fall into it; and whoso breaks an hedge, a serpent shall bite him. "

9 (HEM) מסיע אבנים יעצב בהם בוקע עצים יסכן בם׃
9 (VUL) Qui excidit lapides, affligetur in eis; et, qui scindit ligna, periclitabitur ex eis.
9 (KAT) Kto kreše kamene, poraní sa nimi, kto rúbe drevo, (ľahko) príde pri tom do nešťastia.
9 (UKJV) "Whoso removes stones shall be hurt therewith; and he that cleaves wood shall be endangered thereby. "

10 (HEM) אם קהה הברזל והוא לא פנים קלקל וחילים יגבר ויתרון הכשיר חכמה׃
10 (VUL) Si retusum fuerit ferrum, et aciem eius non exacueris, labor multiplicabitur, sed lucrum industriae erit sapientia.
10 (KAT) Kto si nenabrúsi ostrie, ak sa mu stupí železo, musí napnúť sily. Tak dopomáha múdrosť k osožnému úspechu.
10 (UKJV) If the iron be blunt, and he do not sharpen the edge, then must he put to more strength: but wisdom is profitable to direct.

11 (HEM) אם ישך הנחש בלוא לחש ואין יתרון לבעל הלשון׃
11 (VUL) Si mordeat serpens incantatione neglecta, nihil lucri habet incantator.
11 (KAT) Ak uštipne had pred zaklínaním, nemá zisk zaklínač.
11 (UKJV) "Surely the serpent will bite without enchantment; and a babbler is no better. "

12 (HEM) דברי פי חכם חן ושפתות כסיל תבלענו׃
12 (VUL) Verba oris sapientis gratia, et labia insipientis praecipitabunt eum.
12 (KAT) Slová z úst múdreho sú prívetivé, (čo) však (odznieva) z perí nemúdreho, pohlcuje ho.
12 (UKJV) "The words of a wise man's mouth are gracious; but the lips of a fool will swallow up himself. "

13 (HEM) תחלת דברי פיהו סכלות ואחרית פיהו הוללות רעה׃
13 (VUL) Initium verborum eius stultitia, et novissimum oris illius insipientia mala.
13 (KAT) Počiatočné slová jeho úst sú pochabosťou, koniec slov na jeho ústach je zlé šialenstvo.
13 (UKJV) The beginning of the words of his mouth is foolishness: and the end of his talk is mischievous madness.

14 (HEM) והסכל ירבה דברים לא ידע האדם מה שיהיה ואשר יהיה מאחריו מי יגיד לו׃
14 (VUL) Stultus verba multiplicat: “ Ignorat homo quid futurum sit; et, quid post se futurum sit, quis ei poterit indicare?”.
14 (KAT) Pochabý potára až mnoho rečí; človek nemôže vedieť, čo sa stane, a (ešte menej vie), čo bude potom. Ktože mu to oznámil?

15 (HEM) עמל הכסילים תיגענו אשר לא ידע ללכת אל עיר׃

15 (KAT) Práca unavuje pochabého, ktorý nevie zájsť ani do mesta.

16 (HEM) אי לך ארץ שמלכך נער ושריך בבקר יאכלו׃
16 (VUL) Vae tibi, terra, cuius rex puer est, et cuius principes mane comedunt.
16 (KAT) Beda ti, krajina, ak je tvoj kráľ primladý, ak tvoji predáci už za rána hodujú!
16 (UKJV) Woe to you, O land, when your king is a child, and your princes eat in the morning!

17 (HEM) אשריך ארץ שמלכך בן חורים ושריך בעת יאכלו בגבורה ולא בשתי׃
17 (VUL) Beata terra, cuius rex nobilis est, et cuius principes vescuntur in tempore suo ad reficiendum et non ad luxuriam.
17 (KAT) Blažená si, krajina, ak je tvoj kráľ muž ušľachtilý, ak tvoje kniežatá jedia na (svoj) čas, (jedia) pre posilnenie, a nie z hýrivosti.

18 (KAT) Pri veľkej nedbalosti rúti sa krov, pri nečinnosti rúk premoká do domu.
18 (UKJV) "By much slothfulness the building decays; and through idleness of the hands the house drops through. "

19 (HEM) לשחוק עשים לחם ויין ישמח חיים והכסף יענה את הכל׃
19 (VUL) In risum faciunt epulas; vinum laetificat vitam, et pecunia praestat omnia.
19 (KAT) Na pobavenie usporadúvajú hostinu, víno rozveseľuje život a peniaze dopomáhajú k všetkému.
19 (UKJV) A feast is made for laughter, and wine makes merry: but money answers all things.

20 (HEM) גם במדעך מלך אל תקלל ובחדרי משכבך אל תקלל עשיר כי עוף השמים יוליך את הקול ובעל הכנפים יגיד דבר׃
20 (VUL) In cogitatione tua regi ne detrahas et in secreto cubiculi tui ne maledixeris diviti, quia et aves caeli portabunt vocem tuam, et, qui habet pennas, annuntiabit sententiam.
20 (KAT) Ani v myšlienke nepreklínaj kráľa, ani v úkryte spálne nezloreč boháčovi, lebo aj nebeské vtáky by mohli zaniesť tvoj hlas a čo len krídla má, môže mu takú reč oznámiť.
