Kazateľ

1 (CPDV) The words of Ecclesiastes, the son of David, the king of Jerusalem.
1 (HEM) דברי קהלת בן דוד מלך בירושלם׃
1 (KAT) Úvahy Dávidovho syna Kazateľa, kráľa nad Jeruzalemom.

2 (CPDV) Ecclesiastes said: Vanity of vanities! Vanity of vanities, and all is vanity!
2 (HEM) הבל הבלים אמר קהלת הבל הבלים הכל הבל׃
2 (KAT) Márnosť, len márnosť - hovorí Kazateľ. Márnosť, len márnosť, všetko je iba márnosť.

3 (CPDV) What more does a man have from all his labor, as he labors under the sun?
3 (HEM) מה יתרון לאדם בכל עמלו שיעמל תחת השמש׃
3 (KAT) Aký osoh má človek zo všetkej svojej námahy, ktorou sa ustáva, (kým je) pod slnkom?

4 (CPDV) A generation passes away, and a generation arrives. But the earth stands forever.
4 (HEM) דור הלך ודור בא והארץ לעולם עמדת׃
4 (KAT) (Jedno) pokolenie prichádza, (iné) pokolenie odchádza. Zem však stojí naveky.

5 (CPDV) The sun rises and sets; it returns to its place, and from there, being born again,
5 (HEM) וזרח השמש ובא השמש ואל מקומו שואף זורח הוא שם׃
5 (KAT) Slnko vychádza a slnko zapadá a ženie sa späť na miesto, kde (zasa) vyjde.

6 (CPDV) it circles through the south, and arcs toward the north. The spirit continues on, illuminating everything in its circuit, and turning again in its cycle.
6 (HEM) הולך אל דרום וסובב אל צפון סובב סבב הולך הרוח ועל סביבתיו שב הרוח׃

8 (HEM) כל הדברים יגעים לא יוכל איש לדבר לא תשבע עין לראות ולא תמלא אזן משמע׃
8 (KAT) Všetky bytosti sú podrobené ustávaniu - vyrozprávať to nevládze nik. Oko sa nenasycuje videním, ucho sa nenapĺňa počúvaním.

9 (CPDV) What is it that has existed? The same shall exist in the future. What is it that has been done? The same shall continue to be done.
9 (HEM) מה שהיה הוא שיהיה ומה שנעשה הוא שיעשה ואין כל חדש תחת השמש׃
9 (KAT) Čo bolo, je to, čo aj zasa bude. A čo sa už stalo, to sa opäť stane. Nič nie je nové pod slnkom.

10 (CPDV) There is nothing new under the sun. Neither is anyone able to say: “Behold, this is new!” For it has already been brought forth in the ages that were before us.
10 (HEM) יש דבר שיאמר ראה זה חדש הוא כבר היה לעלמים אשר היה מלפננו׃
10 (KAT) Ak je niečo, o čom by človek povedal: „Pozri toto je niečo nové!“, už to bolo v časoch, ktoré boli pred nami.

11 (CPDV) There is no remembrance of the former things. Indeed, neither shall there be any record of past things in the future, for those who will exist at the very end.
11 (HEM) אין זכרון לראשנים וגם לאחרנים שיהיו לא יהיה להם זכרון עם שיהיו לאחרנה׃
11 (KAT) Však na minulosť už niet spomienky a s budúcnosťou to bude tiež len tak. Nebude po nich spomienky u tých, čo budú nasledovať za nimi.

12 (CPDV) I, Ecclesiastes, was king of Israel at Jerusalem.
12 (HEM) אני קהלת הייתי מלך על ישראל בירושלם׃
12 (KAT) Ja, Kazateľ, bol som kráľom nad Izraelom v Jeruzaleme.

13 (CPDV) And I was determined in my mind to seek and to investigate wisely, concerning all that is done under the sun. God has given this very difficult task to the sons of men, so that they may be occupied by it.
13 (HEM) ונתתי את לבי לדרוש ולתור בחכמה על כל אשר נעשה תחת השמים הוא ענין רע נתן אלהים לבני האדם לענות בו׃
13 (KAT) A svojou mysľou som sa dal na to, že múdro preskúmam a vystopujem všetko, čo sa deje pod nebom. To trápne zamestnanie uložil Boh Adamovým synom, aby sa ním umárali.

14 (CPDV) I have seen all that is done under the sun, and behold: all is emptiness and an affliction of the spirit.
14 (HEM) ראיתי את כל המעשים שנעשו תחת השמש והנה הכל הבל ורעות רוח׃
14 (KAT) Videl som všetko, čo sa deje pod slnkom, - ale to všetko je márnosť a honba za vetrom!

15 (CPDV) The perverse are unwilling to be corrected, and the number of the foolish is boundless.
15 (HEM) מעות לא יוכל לתקן וחסרון לא יוכל להמנות׃
15 (KAT) Krivé sa nedá urobiť rovným a čoho niet, to nemožno počítať.

16 (CPDV) I have spoken in my heart, saying: “Behold, I have achieved greatness, and I have surpassed all the wise who were before me in Jerusalem.” And my mind has contemplated many things wisely, and I have learned.
16 (HEM) דברתי אני עם לבי לאמר אני הנה הגדלתי והוספתי חכמה על כל אשר היה לפני על ירושלם ולבי ראה הרבה חכמה ודעת׃
16 (KAT) Povedal som si v srdci: „Hľa, vzrástol som a zbohatol v múdrosti, moja myseľ videla mnoho múdrosti a vedomosti.“

17 (CPDV) And I have dedicated my heart, so that I may know prudence and doctrine, and also error and foolishness. Yet I recognize that, in these things also, there is hardship, and affliction of the spirit.
17 (HEM) ואתנה לבי לדעת חכמה ודעת הוללות ושכלות ידעתי שגם זה הוא רעיון רוח׃
17 (KAT) Preto som sa v srdci rozhodol poznávať múdrosť a tiež poznávať, (čo je) bláznovstvo a pochabosť. Ale zistil som, že aj to je iba honba za vetrom.

18 (CPDV) Because of this, with much wisdom there is also much anger. And whoever adds knowledge, also adds hardship.
18 (HEM) כי ברב חכמה רב כעס ויוסיף דעת יוסיף מכאוב׃
18 (KAT) Lebo čím viac je múdrosti, tým väčšmi pribúda aj mrzutosti; a ako si niekto zväčšuje vedomosti, tak si zväčšuje aj bolesť.
