Prís 6, 1-35

1 (KJV) My son, if thou be surety for thy friend, if thou hast stricken thy hand with a stranger,

2 (KJV) Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.
2 (ROH) zaplietol si sa jako do osídla do rečí svojich úst; lapil si sa do rečí svojich úst.

3 (KJV) Do this now, my son, deliver thyself, when thou art come into the hand of thy friend; go, humble thyself, and make sure thy friend.

4 (KJV) Give not sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids.
4 (ROH) Nedaj usnúť svojim očiam ani zadriemať svojim víčkam.

5 (KJV) Deliver thyself as a roe from the hand of the hunter, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.

6 (KJV) Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:
6 (ROH) Idi k mravcovi, leňochu; vidz jeho cesty a zmúdrej.

7 (KJV) Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,
7 (ROH) On, ktorý nemá vodcu ani správcu ani panovníka,

8 (KJV) Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.
8 (ROH) pripravuje v lete svoj chlieb; shromažďuje svoju potravu včas žatvy.

9 (KJV) How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?
9 (ROH) Dokedyže budeš ležať, leňochu? Kedy už povstaneš zo svojho spánku?

10 (KJV) Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
10 (ROH) Ešte trochu pospať, trochu podriemať, trochu založiť ruky poležať,

11 (KJV) So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.
11 (ROH) a prijde tvoja chudoba jako pocestný a tvoja núdza jako ozbrojenec.

12 (KJV) A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth.
12 (ROH) Nešľachetný človek beliálov, podliak je ten, kto chodí v prevrátenosti úst.

13 (KJV) He winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers;
13 (ROH) Žmurká svojimi očima; hovorí svojimi nohami; dáva znamenia svojimi prstami.

14 (KJV) Frowardness is in his heart, he deviseth mischief continually; he soweth discord.

15 (KJV) Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy.
15 (ROH) Preto náhle prijde jeho zkaza; bude rýchle skrúšený, a nebude lieku.

16 (KJV) These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
16 (ROH) Toto šestoré nenávidí Hospodin, a sedmoro je ohavnosťou jeho duši:

17 (KJV) A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
17 (ROH) vysoké oči, lživý jazyk a ruky, ktoré vylievajú nevinnú krv;

18 (KJV) An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
18 (ROH) srdce, ktoré vymýšľa nepravé myšlienky; nohy, rýchle bežať ku zlému;

19 (KJV) A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
19 (ROH) lživý svedok, ktorý hovorí lož, a ten, kto rozsieva rôznice medzi bratmi.

20 (KJV) My son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother:
20 (ROH) Ostríhaj, môj synu, prikázanie svojho otca a neopusti naučenia svojej matky;

21 (KJV) Bind them continually upon thine heart, and tie them about thy neck.

22 (KJV) When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.
22 (ROH) Keď budeš chodiť, bude ťa to vodiť; keď budeš ležať a spať, bude strážiť nad tebou, a keď sa prebudíš, bude to rozprávať s tebou.

23 (KJV) For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:
23 (ROH) Lebo prikázanie je sviecou a naučenie zákona svetlom a kárania kázne cestou života,

24 (KJV) To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman.
24 (ROH) aby ťa to ostríhalo od zlej ženy, od úlisnosti jazyka cudzozemky.

25 (KJV) Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.
25 (ROH) Nežiadaj jej krásy vo svojom srdci, a nech ťa nezajme svojimi víčkami.

26 (KJV) For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adulteress will hunt for the precious life.

27 (KJV) Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?
27 (ROH) Či azda môže človek vziať oheň do svojho lona bez toho, aby neprehorelo jeho rúcho?

28 (KJV) Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned?

29 (KJV) So he that goeth in to his neighbour's wife; whosoever toucheth her shall not be innocent.

30 (KJV) Men do not despise a thief, if he steal to satisfy his soul when he is hungry;
30 (ROH) Neopovrhujú zlodejom, keď ukradol nato, aby naplnil svoju dušu, keď bol hladný.

31 (KJV) But if he be found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house.
31 (ROH) A keď sa najde, nahradí sedemnásobne; dá hoci celý majetok svojho domu.

32 (KJV) But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul.
32 (ROH) No, ten, kto cudzoloží so ženou, je bez rozumu; kto ide zahubiť svoju dušu, ten to vykoná.

33 (KJV) A wound and dishonour shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away.
33 (ROH) Najde úder a hanbu, a jeho potupa nebude vyhladená.

34 (KJV) For jealousy is the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance.

35 (KJV) He will not regard any ransom; neither will he rest content, though thou givest many gifts.
35 (ROH) Nepozrie na nijaké smierne ani nebude chcieť, keby si dával hneď i množstvo darov.
