Prís 4, 1-27

1 (UKJV) Hear, all of you children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.
1 (KAT) Počujte, deti, nabádanie otcovo a pozorujte, aby ste sa naučili poznaniu.

2 (UKJV) For I give you good doctrine, forsake all of you not my law.
2 (KAT) Lebo vám dávam dobré ponaučenie: Neopúšťajte moju náuku!

3 (UKJV) For I was my father's son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.
3 (KAT) Lebo kým som bol (ešte ako) dieťa u otca, útly jedináčik pod dozorom matkiným,

4 (UKJV) He taught me also, and said unto me, Let your heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live.
4 (KAT) poučoval ma a vravel mi: „Nech sa ti srdce pridržiava mojich slov! Zachovávaj moje príkazy (a budeš žiť.

5 (UKJV) "Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth. "
5 (KAT) Zadovažuj si múdrosť, zadovažuj si rozumnosť)! Nezabúdaj (na ne) a neodchyľuj sa od slov mojich úst!

6 (UKJV) Forsake her not, and she shall preserve you: love her, and she shall keep you.
6 (KAT) Neopúšťaj ju, tak ťa bude chrániť, obľubuj si ju, tak ťa bude strážiť.

7 (UKJV) "Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all your getting get understanding. "
7 (KAT) Začiatok múdrosti (je): Zadováž si múdrosť a celým svojím imaním si zadovažuj rozumnosť!

8 (UKJV) Exalt her, and she shall promote you: she shall bring you to honour, when you do embrace her.
8 (KAT) Vyzdvihuj ju, a zvýši tvoju (vážnosť), dopomôže ti ku cti, ak ju privinieš.

9 (UKJV) She shall give to your head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to you.
9 (KAT) Ovinie ti hlavu nádherným vencom (a) obdarí ťa zdobnou korunou.“

10 (UKJV) "Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of your life shall be many. "
10 (KAT) Počúvaj, syn môj, a prijmi moje výroky a rozmnožia sa ti roky života!

11 (UKJV) "I have taught you in the way of wisdom; I have led you in right paths. "
11 (KAT) Ja ti ukážem cestu múdrosti a povediem ťa po chodníkoch spravodlivosti.

12 (UKJV) "When you go, your steps shall not be straitened; and when you run, you shall not stumble. "
12 (KAT) Keď pôjdeš (po nich), nebude tvoj krok stiesnený, a keď (nimi) pobežíš, nebudeš sa potkýnať.

13 (UKJV) "Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is your life. "
13 (KAT) Priviň sa (pevne) k náuke a nepusť ju, nerozlúč sa s ňou, bo ona ti (je) životom.

14 (UKJV) Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.
14 (KAT) Nevstupuj na chodník bezbožných a nevykračuj cestou zlostníkov!

15 (UKJV) Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.
15 (KAT) Varuj sa jej (a) neprechádzaj ňou! Vyhni sa jej a obíď (ju)!

16 (UKJV) "For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall. "
16 (KAT) Lebo nespia, kým (niečo) zlé nevykonajú, a obchádza ich spánok, ak (voľakoho) nezvedú.

17 (UKJV) For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.
17 (KAT) Bo jedávajú chlieb nečestnosti a pijú víno násilia.

18 (UKJV) But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shines more and more unto the perfect day.
18 (KAT) Púť bezbožných je ako tmavá (noc), nevedia, na čom sa potknú.

19 (UKJV) The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.
19 (KAT) Lež chodník spravodlivých (je) sťa svetlo rozbresku čo dužie čoraz väčšmi do bieleho dňa.

20 (UKJV) "My son, attend to my words; incline your ear unto my sayings. "
20 (KAT) Vnímaj moje slová, syn môj, a nakloň ucho k mojim výrokom!

21 (UKJV) "Let them not depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart. "
21 (KAT) Nespúšťaj oči z nich, chráň si ich v hĺbke srdca!

22 (UKJV) For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
22 (KAT) Lebo sú život pre tých, čo ich nachodia, a uzdravením pre ich telo vonkoncom.

23 (UKJV) "Keep your heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. "
23 (KAT) Veľmi stráž svoje srdce, lebo z neho (vyvierajú) žriedla života.

24 (UKJV) Put away from you a perverse mouth, and perverse lips put far from you.
24 (KAT) Odstráň od seba falošné ústa a úskočné pery nech sú ďaleko od teba.

25 (UKJV) Let your eyes look right on, and let your eyelids look straight before you.
25 (KAT) Nech tvoje oči hľadia priamo vpred a tvoje mihalnice nech pozerajú pred teba!

26 (UKJV) Ponder the path of your feet, and let all your ways be established.
26 (KAT) Hľaď svojej nohe rovný chodník nájsť a všetky tvoje cesty nech smerujú do cieľa.

27 (UKJV) Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove your foot from evil.
27 (KAT) Neodkloňuj sa (ani) vpravo, ani naľavo, odvracaj svoju nohu od zlého!

Verš 3

For I was my father's son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.

1Krn 29:1 - Furthermore David the king said unto all the congregation, Solomon my son, whom alone God has chosen, is yet young and tender, and the work is great: for the palace is not for man, but for the LORD God.

Verš 4

He taught me also, and said unto me, Let your heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live.

1Krn 28:9 - "And you, Solomon my son, know you the God of your father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searches all hearts, and understands all the imaginations of the thoughts: if you seek him, he will be found of you; but if you forsake him, he will cast you off for ever. "

Verš 7

"Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all your getting get understanding. "

Prís 23:23 - "Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding. "

Verš 9

She shall give to your head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to you.

Prís 1:19 - "So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which takes away the life of the owners thereof. "

Verš 12

"When you go, your steps shall not be straitened; and when you run, you shall not stumble. "

Ž 91:11 - For he shall give his angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways.

Verš 14

Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.

Ž 1:1 - Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful.

Prís 1:10 - My son, if sinners entice you, consent you not.

Prís 1:15 - "My son, walk not you in the way with them; refrain your foot from their path: "

Verš 22

For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

Prís 4:13 - "Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is your life. "

Verš 27

Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove your foot from evil.

Dt 5:32 - All of you shall observe to do therefore as the LORD your God has commanded you: all of you shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.

Dt 28:14 - And you shall not go aside from any of the words which I command you this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.

Pris 4,5 - V tomto verši badať istú myšlienkovú rozhádzanosť. Herman Wiesmann S. J. v Bonner Bibel usporadúva v. 5 takto: k v. 4c pripojuje z v. 5b začiatočné slová "nezabúdaj (na ne)". Potom kladie zvyšok v. 5b pred 5a. Slová "a budeš žiť" vo v. 4c pokladá za vsuvku. Iní okrem toho pokladajú za vsuvku aj celý verš 5a.

Pris 4,9 - Porov. 1,9a.

Pris 4,17-19 - Verše 18 a 19 sa lepšie zapájajú k predchádzajúcemu veršu, keď sa prehodia.

Pris 4,27 - Za v. 27 LXX a Vulg dodávajú ešte tieto verše, ktoré vhodne zakončujú kapitolu, lebo ináč by bola zavŕšená strmo:"Bo cesty vpravo pozná Boha cesty naľavo sú poprevracané.Lenže on púte tvoje porovnáa kroky tvojev neporušenosti sprevádzať bude."Slovo "pozná" v prvom dodatkovom verši značí, že sa Bohu neľúbi, keď človek veľmi zabehuje už či naľavo, či napravo, a je preto jedine správne uberať sa priamo.
