1 (HEM) דברי למואל מלך משא אשר יסרתו אמו׃
1 (UKJV) The words of king Lemuel, the prophecy that his mother taught him.

2 (HEM) מה ברי ומה בר בטני ומה בר נדרי׃
2 (UKJV) What, my son? and what, the son of my womb? and what, the son of my vows?

3 (HEM) אל תתן לנשים חילך ודרכיך למחות מלכין׃
3 (UKJV) Give not your strength unto women, nor your ways to that which destroys kings.

4 (HEM) אל למלכים למואל אל למלכים שתו יין ולרוזנים או שכר׃
4 (UKJV) "It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink: "

5 (HEM) פן ישתה וישכח מחקק וישנה דין כל בני עני׃
5 (UKJV) Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.

6 (HEM) תנו שכר לאובד ויין למרי נפש׃
6 (UKJV) Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.

7 (HEM) ישתה וישכח רישו ועמלו לא יזכר עוד׃
7 (UKJV) Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.

8 (HEM) פתח פיך לאלם אל דין כל בני חלוף׃
8 (UKJV) Open your mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.

9 (HEM) פתח פיך שפט צדק ודין עני ואביון׃
9 (UKJV) Open your mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.

10 (HEM) אשת חיל מי ימצא ורחק מפנינים מכרה׃
10 (UKJV) Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.

11 (HEM) בטח בה לב בעלה ושלל לא יחסר׃
11 (UKJV) The heart of her husband does safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.

12 (HEM) גמלתהו טוב ולא רע כל ימי חייה׃
12 (UKJV) She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.

13 (HEM) דרשה צמר ופשתים ותעש בחפץ כפיה׃
13 (UKJV) She seeks wool, and flax, and works willingly with her hands.

14 (HEM) היתה כאניות סוחר ממרחק תביא לחמה׃
14 (UKJV) "She is like the merchants' ships; she brings her food from far. "

15 (HEM) ותקם בעוד לילה ותתן טרף לביתה וחק לנערתיה׃
15 (UKJV) She rises also while it is yet night, and gives food to her household, and a portion to her maidens.

16 (HEM) זממה שדה ותקחהו מפרי כפיה נטע כרם׃
16 (UKJV) She considers a field, and buys it: with the fruit of her hands she plants a vineyard.

17 (HEM) חגרה בעוז מתניה ותאמץ זרעותיה׃
17 (UKJV) She girds her loins with strength, and strengthens her arms.

18 (HEM) טעמה כי טוב סחרה לא יכבה בליל נרה׃
18 (UKJV) She perceives that her merchandise is good: her candle goes not out by night.

19 (HEM) ידיה שלחה בכישור וכפיה תמכו פלך׃
19 (UKJV) She lays her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.

20 (HEM) כפה פרשה לעני וידיה שלחה לאביון׃
20 (UKJV) "She stretches out her hand to the poor; yea, she reachs forth her hands to the needy. "

21 (HEM) לא תירא לביתה משלג כי כל ביתה לבש שנים׃
21 (UKJV) She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.

22 (HEM) מרבדים עשתה לה שש וארגמן לבושה׃
22 (UKJV) "She makes herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple. "

23 (HEM) נודע בשערים בעלה בשבתו עם זקני ארץ׃
23 (UKJV) Her husband is known in the gates, when he sits among the elders of the land.

24 (HEM) סדין עשתה ותמכר וחגור נתנה לכנעני׃
24 (UKJV) "She makes fine linen, and sells it; and delivers girdles unto the merchant. "

25 (HEM) עז והדר לבושה ותשחק ליום אחרון׃
25 (UKJV) "Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. "

26 (HEM) פיה פתחה בחכמה ותורת חסד על לשונה׃
26 (UKJV) "She opens her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. "

27 (HEM) צופיה הליכות ביתה ולחם עצלות לא תאכל׃
27 (UKJV) She looks well to the ways of her household, and eats not the bread of idleness.

28 (HEM) קמו בניה ויאשרוה בעלה ויהללה׃
28 (UKJV) "Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her. "

29 (HEM) רבות בנות עשו חיל ואת עלית על כלנה׃
29 (UKJV) Many daughters have done virtuously, but you excel them all.

30 (HEM) שקר החן והבל היפי אשה יראת יהוה היא תתהלל׃
30 (UKJV) Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that fears the LORD, she shall be praised.

31 (HEM) תנו לה מפרי ידיה ויהללוה בשערים מעשיה׃
31 (UKJV) "Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates. "
