Prís 23, 1-35

1 (UKJV) When you sit to eat with a ruler, consider diligently what is before you:
1 (ROH) Keď sadneš jesť s panovníkom, dobre pozoruj toho, koho máš pred sebou,

2 (UKJV) And put a knife to your throat, if you be a man given to appetite.
2 (ROH) a prilož si nôž na svoj hrtan, ak si pažravý.

3 (UKJV) Be not desirous of his dainties: for they are deceitful food.
3 (ROH) Nežiadaj jeho lakôt, lebo je to klamlivý pokrm.

4 (UKJV) Labour not to be rich: cease from your own wisdom.
4 (ROH) Neustávaj sa o to, aby si zbohatnul; od takej svojej rozumnosti upusť.

5 (UKJV) "Will you set your eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven. "
5 (ROH) Či by si dal zaletieť svojim očiam naň, na bohatstvo, ktorého čo nevidieť neni? Lebo je isté, že si spravilo krýdla jako krýdla orla, a odletuje k nebesiam.

6 (UKJV) Eat you not the bread of him that has an evil eye, neither desire you his dainty meats:
6 (ROH) Nejedz chleba závistného človeka ani nežiadaj jeho lakôt.

7 (UKJV) "For as he thinks in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, says he to you; but his heart is not with you. "
7 (ROH) Lebo jako smýšľa vo svojej duši, taký je; povie ti: Jedz a pi; ale jeho srdce nie je s tebou.

8 (UKJV) The morsel which you have eaten shall you vomit up, and lose your sweet words.
8 (ROH) Svoj kúsok, ktorý si zjedol, vyvrátiš a zmaríš svoje pekné slová.

9 (UKJV) Speak not in the ears of a fool: for he will despise the wisdom of your words.
9 (ROH) Nehovor pred bláznom, lebo pohŕdne rozumnosťou tvojich rečí.

10 (UKJV) "Remove not the old landmark; and enter not into the fields of the fatherless: "
10 (ROH) Neprenášaj dávnej medze a nevchádzaj na pole sirôt.

11 (UKJV) "For their redeemer is mighty; he shall plead their cause with you. "
11 (ROH) Lebo ich vykupiteľ je mocný; on bude riešiť ich pravotu s tebou.

12 (UKJV) Apply your heart unto instruction, and your ears to the words of knowledge.
12 (ROH) Zaveď svoje srdce ku kázni a svoje uši obráť k rečiam známosti!

13 (UKJV) Withhold not correction from the child: for if you beat him with the rod, he shall not die.
13 (ROH) Neunímaj kázne od chlapca; keď ho vyšľaháš prútom, nezomrie;

14 (UKJV) You shall beat him with the rod, and shall deliver his soul from hell.
14 (ROH) ty ho vyšľaháš prútom a jeho dušu vytrhneš z pekla.

15 (UKJV) My son, if your heart be wise, my heart shall rejoice, even mine.
15 (ROH) Môj synu, ak bude tvoje srdce múdre, i moje srdce sa bude radovať.

16 (UKJV) Yea, my reins shall rejoice, when your lips speak right things.
16 (ROH) A moje ľadviny budú plesať, keď budú tvoje rty hovoriť veci, ktoré sú pravé.

17 (UKJV) Let not your heart envy sinners: but be you in the fear of the LORD all the day long.
17 (ROH) Nech nezávidí tvoje srdce hriešnikom; ale radšej choď v bázni Hospodinovej celý deň.

18 (UKJV) "For surely there is an end; and your expectation shall not be cut off. "
18 (ROH) Lebo ak je v budúcnosti nejaká odmena, tvoje očakávanie nebude vyťaté.

19 (UKJV) Hear you, my son, and be wise, and guide your heart in the way.
19 (ROH) Počuj, ty, môj synu, a buď múdry a uprav svoje srdce rovno cestou.

20 (UKJV) "Be not among winebibbers; among riotous eaters of flesh: "
20 (ROH) Nebuď medzi pijanmi vína ani medzi žráčmi mäsa;

21 (UKJV) For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty: and drowsiness shall clothe a man with rags.
21 (ROH) lebo pijan a žráč schudobneje, a driemota oblieka v handry.

22 (UKJV) Hearken unto your father that brings forth you, and despise not your mother when she is old.
22 (ROH) Poslúchaj svojho otca, toho, ktorý ťa splodil, a nepohŕdni, keď sa zostarie, svojou matkou.

23 (UKJV) "Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding. "
23 (ROH) Kúp si pravdu a nepredaj jej, múdrosť, kázeň a rozumnosť.

24 (UKJV) The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that bring forths a wise child shall have joy of him.
24 (ROH) Radosťou plesá otec spravedlivého, a ten, kto splodil múdreho, raduje sa mu.

25 (UKJV) Your father and your mother shall be glad, and she that bare you shall rejoice.
25 (ROH) Nech sa raduje tvoj otec i tvoja mať, a nech plesá tá, ktorá ťa porodila.

26 (UKJV) My son, give me your heart, and let your eyes observe my ways.
26 (ROH) Daj mi, môj synu, svoje srdce, a tvoje oči nech pilne pozorujú moje cesty.

27 (UKJV) "For a whore is a deep ditch; and a strange woman is a narrow pit. "
27 (ROH) Lebo smilnica je hlbokou jamou a úzkym hrdlom studnice cudzozemka.

28 (UKJV) She also lies in wait as for a prey, and increases the transgressors among men.
28 (ROH) Áno, úkladí jako zákerník a rozmnožuje medzi ľuďmi tých, ktorí robia neverne.

29 (UKJV) Who has woe? who has sorrow? who has contentions? who has babbling? who has wounds without cause? who has redness of eyes?
29 (ROH) Komu beda, komu jaj, komu zvady, komu žaloba, komu rany darmo, komu rudá zamhlenosť očí?

30 (UKJV) "They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine. "
30 (ROH) Tým, ktorí sa dlho zdržujú pri víne, tým, ktorí vchádzajú, aby vyhľadali miešané víno.

31 (UKJV) Look not you upon the wine when it is red, when it gives his colour in the cup, when it moves itself aright.

35 (UKJV) "They have stricken me, shall you say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again. "
35 (ROH) Povieš: Nabili ma, a nebolelo ma; natĺkli ma, a necítil som. Keď sa prebudím, urobím znova, pojdem to zase hľadať.

Verš 9

Speak not in the ears of a fool: for he will despise the wisdom of your words.

Prís 9:8 - Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate you: rebuke a wise man, and he will love you.

Mt 7:6 - Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast all of you your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and return and rend you.

"Remove not the old landmark; and enter not into the fields of the fatherless: "

Prís 22:28 - Remove not the ancient landmark, which your fathers have set.

Verš 13

Withhold not correction from the child: for if you beat him with the rod, he shall not die.

Prís 13:24 - He that spares his rod hates his son: but he that loves him chastens him early.

Prís 19:18 - Chasten your son while there is hope, and let not your soul spare for his crying.

Prís 22:15 - "Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him. "

Prís 29:15 - The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself brings his mother to shame.

Prís 29:17 - "Correct your son, and he shall give you rest; yea, he shall give delight unto your soul. "

Verš 17

Let not your heart envy sinners: but be you in the fear of the LORD all the day long.

Ž 37:1 - Fret not yourself because of evildoers, neither be you envious against the workers of iniquity.

Ž 73:3 - For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.

Prís 24:1 - Be not you envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.

"For surely there is an end; and your expectation shall not be cut off. "

Prís 24:14 - So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto your soul: when you have found it, then there shall be a reward, and your expectation shall not be cut off.

"Be not among winebibbers; among riotous eaters of flesh: "

Iz 5:22 - Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink:

Lk 21:34 - And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with worldly excess, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unexpectedly.

Rim 13:13 - "Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. "

Ef 5:18 - "And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; (o. pneuma) "

Hearken unto your father that brings forth you, and despise not your mother when she is old.

Prís 4:7 - "Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all your getting get understanding. "

Verš 24

The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that bring forths a wise child shall have joy of him.

Prís 10:1 - The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son makes a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.

Prís 15:20 - A wise son makes a glad father: but a foolish man despises his mother.

Verš 27

"For a whore is a deep ditch; and a strange woman is a narrow pit. "

Prís 22:14 - The mouth of strange women is a deep pit: he that is abhorred of the LORD shall fall therein.

"They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine. "
