1 (HEM) נבחר שם מעשר רב מכסף ומזהב חן טוב׃
1 (UKJV) A GOOD name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.

2 (HEM) עשיר ורש נפגשו עשה כלם יהוה׃
2 (UKJV) The rich and poor meet together: the LORD is the maker of them all.

3 (HEM) ערום ראה רעה ויסתר ופתיים עברו ונענשו׃
3 (UKJV) A prudent man forsees the evil, and hides himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.

4 (HEM) עקב ענוה יראת יהוה עשר וכבוד וחיים׃
4 (UKJV) By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life.

5 (HEM) צנים פחים בדרך עקש שומר נפשו ירחק מהם׃
5 (UKJV) Thorns and snares are in the way of the perverse: he that does keep his soul shall be far from them.

6 (HEM) חנך לנער על פי דרכו גם כי יזקין לא יסור ממנה׃
6 (UKJV) Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

7 (HEM) עשיר ברשים ימשול ועבד לוה לאיש מלוה׃
7 (UKJV) The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.

8 (HEM) זורע עולה יקצור און ושבט עברתו יכלה׃
8 (UKJV) He that sows iniquity shall reap vanity: and the rod of his anger shall fail.

9 (HEM) טוב עין הוא יברך כי נתן מלחמו לדל׃
9 (UKJV) "He that has a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he gives of his bread to the poor. "

10 (HEM) גרש לץ ויצא מדון וישבת דין וקלון׃
10 (UKJV) "Cast out the scorner, and contention shall go out; yea, strife and reproach shall cease. "

11 (HEM) אהב טהור לב חן שפתיו רעהו מלך׃
11 (UKJV) He that loves pureness of heart, for the grace of his lips the king shall be his friend.

12 (HEM) עיני יהוה נצרו דעת ויסלף דברי בגד׃
12 (UKJV) The eyes of the LORD preserve knowledge, and he overthrows the words of the transgressor.

13 (HEM) אמר עצל ארי בחוץ בתוך רחבות ארצח׃
13 (UKJV) The slothful man says, There is a lion without, I shall be slain in the streets.

14 (HEM) שוחה עמקה פי זרות זעום יהוה יפול שם׃
14 (UKJV) The mouth of strange women is a deep pit: he that is abhorred of the LORD shall fall therein.

15 (HEM) אולת קשורה בלב נער שבט מוסר ירחיקנה ממנו׃
15 (UKJV) "Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him. "

16 (HEM) עשק דל להרבות לו נתן לעשיר אך למחסור׃
16 (UKJV) He that oppresses the poor to increase his riches, and he that gives to the rich, shall surely come to lack.

17 (HEM) הט אזנך ושמע דברי חכמים ולבך תשית לדעתי׃
17 (UKJV) Bow down your ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply your heart unto my knowledge.

18 (HEM) כי נעים כי תשמרם בבטנך יכנו יחדו על שפתיך׃
18 (UKJV) "For it is a pleasant thing if you keep them within you; they shall likewise be fitted in your lips. "

19 (HEM) להיות ביהוה מבטחך הודעתיך היום אף אתה׃
19 (UKJV) That your trust may be in the LORD, I have made known to you this day, even to you.

20 (HEM) הלא כתבתי לך שלשום במועצות ודעת׃
20 (UKJV) Have not I written to you excellent things in counsels and knowledge,

21 (HEM) להודיעך קשט אמרי אמת להשיב אמרים אמת לשלחיך׃
21 (UKJV) "That I might make you know the certainty of the words of truth; that you might answer the words of truth to them that send unto you? "

22 (HEM) אל תגזל דל כי דל הוא ואל תדכא עני בשער׃
22 (UKJV) Rob not the poor, because he is poor: neither oppress the afflicted in the gate:

23 (HEM) כי יהוה יריב ריבם וקבע את קבעיהם נפש׃
23 (UKJV) For the LORD will plead their cause, and spoil the soul of those that spoiled them.

24 (HEM) אל תתרע את בעל אף ואת איש חמות לא תבוא׃
24 (UKJV) "Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man you shall not go: "

25 (HEM) פן תאלף ארחתו ולקחת מוקש לנפשך׃
25 (UKJV) Lest you learn his ways, and get a snare to your soul.

26 (HEM) אל תהי בתקעי כף בערבים משאות׃
26 (UKJV) Be not you one of them that shake hands, or of them that are sureties for debts.

27 (HEM) אם אין לך לשלם למה יקח משכבך מתחתיך׃
27 (UKJV) If you have nothing to pay, why should he take away your bed from under you?

28 (HEM) אל תסג גבול עולם אשר עשו אבותיך׃
28 (UKJV) Remove not the ancient landmark, which your fathers have set.

29 (HEM) חזית איש מהיר במלאכתו לפני מלכים יתיצב בל יתיצב לפני חשכים׃
29 (UKJV) "See you a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men. "
