Prís 22, 1-29

1 (KJV) A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.
1 (B21) Jméno je cennější než spousta peněz, nad stříbro a zlato je být oblíben.

2 (KJV) The rich and poor meet together: the LORD is the maker of them all.
2 (B21) Boháč a chudák mají společné jedno: Stvořitelem obou je Hospodin.

3 (KJV) A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.
3 (B21) Rozvážný vidí hrozbu a vyhne se jí, prosťáčci však jdou dál, až na to doplatí.

4 (KJV) By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life.

8 (B21) Kdo seje bezpráví, sklidí neštěstí; jeho hrůzovláda pomine.

9 (KJV) He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor.
9 (B21) Požehaný je ten, kdo je štědrý; i o chleba se dělí s chudákem.

10 (KJV) Cast out the scorner, and contention shall go out; yea, strife and reproach shall cease.

11 (KJV) He that loveth pureness of heart, for the grace of his lips the king shall be his friend.
11 (B21) Kdo z čistého srdce miluje, kdo má ušlechtilost na svých rtech, bude mít krále za přítele.

12 (KJV) The eyes of the LORD preserve knowledge, and he overthroweth the words of the transgressor.
12 (B21) Hospodin střeží vědění, úmysly podvodníků ale překazí.

13 (KJV) The slothful man saith, There is a lion without, I shall be slain in the streets.
13 (B21) "Venku je lev!" říká lenoch. "Na ulici přijdu o život!"

14 (KJV) The mouth of strange women is a deep pit: he that is abhorred of the LORD shall fall therein.
14 (B21) Ústa svůdkyně jsou bezedná jáma, kdo hněvá Hospodina, do ní se propadne.

15 (KJV) Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.
15 (B21) Nerozumnost vězí v srdci dítěte, trestající metla ji však vyžene.

16 (KJV) He that oppresseth the poor to increase his riches, and he that giveth to the rich, shall surely come to want.
16 (B21) Kdo drtí chudé, aby se obohatil, a dává bohatým, skončí v chudobě.

17 (KJV) Bow down thine ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply thine heart unto my knowledge.
17 (B21) Nakloň své ucho a slova mudrců slyš, své srdce věnuj mému vědění.

18 (KJV) For it is a pleasant thing if thou keep them within thee; they shall withal be fitted in thy lips.
18 (B21) Příhodné bude, když zachováš je v nitru, budou-li pohotově vždy na tvých rtech.

19 (KJV) That thy trust may be in the LORD, I have made known to thee this day, even to thee.
19 (B21) Dnes právě tebe mám v úmyslu učit, abys na Hospodina pevně spoléhal.

20 (KJV) Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge,
20 (B21) Třicatero rad jsem pro tebe sepsal - je v nich poučení a vědění,

21 (KJV) That I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth; that thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that send unto thee?
21 (B21) abys poznal výroky spolehlivé pravdy a předával ji těm, kdo na ni čekají:

22 (KJV) Rob not the poor, because he is poor: neither oppress the afflicted in the gate:
22 (B21) Neodírej chudáka - je přece chudák; u soudu neutlačuj ubohé.

23 (KJV) For the LORD will plead their cause, and spoil the soul of those that spoiled them.
23 (B21) Sám Hospodin se jejich pře ujme a vydře duši těm, kdo vydírají je!

24 (KJV) Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go:
24 (B21) Neměj za přítele vznětlivého muže, se vzteklým člověkem se nespolčuj,

25 (KJV) Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul.
25 (B21) jinak se přiučíš jeho zvykům, do pasti uvrhneš duši svou.

26 (KJV) Be not thou one of them that strike hands, or of them that are sureties for debts.
26 (B21) Nepatři k těm, kdo se upisují, nezaručuj se za půjčky.

27 (KJV) If thou hast nothing to pay, why should he take away thy bed from under thee?
27 (B21) Proč bys měl přijít i o vlastní lůžko, až nebudeš mít čím zaplatit?

28 (KJV) Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.
28 (B21) Neposunuj dávné mezníky, které tví otcové vztyčili.

29 (KJV) Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.
29 (B21) Hleď - kdo je mistrem svého díla, v královských službách octne se; nepatrným lidem sloužit nebude.

Verš 1
A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.

The rich and poor meet together: the LORD is the maker of them all.

Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.
Prís 13:24 - He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.
Prís 19:18 - Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying.
Prís 23:14 - Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell.
Prís 29:15 - The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.
Prís 29:17 - Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul.

He that oppresseth the poor to increase his riches, and he that giveth to the rich, shall surely come to want.
Prís 14:31 - He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoureth him hath mercy on the poor.
Prís 17:5 - Whoso mocketh the poor reproacheth his Maker: and he that is glad at calamities shall not be unpunished.

Rob not the poor, because he is poor: neither oppress the afflicted in the gate:
Za 7:10 - And oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart.
Ex 23:6 - Thou shalt not wrest the judgment of thy poor in his cause.
Jób 31:13 - If I did despise the cause of my manservant or of my maidservant, when they contended with me;
Ž 82:3 - Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy.

Verš 23
For the LORD will plead their cause, and spoil the soul of those that spoiled them.
Ex 22:22 - Ye shall not afflict any widow, or fatherless child.
Ž 10:18 - To judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that the man of the earth may no more oppress.

Verš 26
Be not thou one of them that strike hands, or of them that are sureties for debts.
Prís 6:1 - My son, if thou be surety for thy friend, if thou hast stricken thy hand with a stranger,
Prís 11:15 - He that is surety for a stranger shall smart for it: and he that hateth suretiship is sure.

Verš 27
If thou hast nothing to pay, why should he take away thy bed from under thee?
Prís 20:16 - Take his garment that is surety for a stranger: and take a pledge of him for a strange woman.

Verš 28
Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.
Dt 19:14 - Thou shalt not remove thy neighbour's landmark, which they of old time have set in thine inheritance, which thou shalt inherit in the land that the LORD thy God giveth thee to possess it.
Dt 27:17 - Cursed be he that removeth his neighbour's landmark. And all the people shall say, Amen.
Prís 23:10 - Remove not the old landmark; and enter not into the fields of the fatherless:

Pris 22,2 - Na svete je majetková nerovnakosť danou skutočnosťou (porov. Mt 26,11). Pred Bohom sú však všetci ľudia rovnakí a ten istý Boh žiada, aby jedni pomáhali druhým (porov. 14,31; 17,5; Jób 34,19).

Pris 22,8 - Druhý polverš nie je presne zachovaný. Jeho zmysel je však tento: Bezbožníka neminie trest; prút, čo chystal na blížneho, bude šibať jeho.

Pris 22,11 - Druhý polverš doplnený zo LXX. – Ďalší polverš, zachovaný v pôvodine, žiada doplnok, no ten sa nezachoval.

Pris 22,14 - Porov. 2,16–19; 5,3–6; 7,21–23.

Pris 22,16 - Bedár má zisk z toho, keď ho boháč utlačuje, lebo mu Boh tajne vynahrádza všetko. Na tom však, čo boháč nahonobí nespravodlivo, je kliatba Božia, skôr či neskôr stratí to, čo tak nadobudol.

Pris 22,17-21 - Úvod k ďalšej zbierke mudrcových výpovedí (porov. úvod, bod 3). V pôvodine je jeho text hodne pokazený. Napísal ho azda zberateľ, čo zostavoval túto zbierku. Príslovia sú viacveršové, nie tak ako predošlé, čo boli dvojveršové.
