1 (CPDV) My son, if you would accept my words, and conceal my commandments within you,
1 (KAT) Syn môj, ak prijmeš moje výroky a moje prikázania schováš u seba,

2 (CPDV) so that your ears may listen to wisdom, then bend your heart in order to know prudence.
2 (KAT) ak budeš napínať ucho za múdrosťou a nakloníš si srdce k umnosti,

3 (CPDV) For if you would call upon wisdom and bend your heart to prudence,
3 (KAT) keď budeš vzývať rozumnosť, dovolávať sa svojím hlasom umnosti,

4 (CPDV) if you will seek her like money, and dig for her as if for treasure,
4 (KAT) ak ju budeš hľadať ako strieborniak a sliediť za ňou ako za skrytými pokladmi,

5 (CPDV) then you will understand the fear of the Lord, and you will discover the knowledge of God.
5 (KAT) vtedy porozumieš bázni pred Pánom a získaš Božie poznanie.

6 (CPDV) For the Lord bestows wisdom, and out of his mouth, prudence and knowledge.
6 (KAT) Bo múdrosť udeľuje Pán, z jeho úst (pochádzajú) poznanie a rozumnosť.

7 (CPDV) He will preserve the salvation of the righteous, and he will protect those who walk in simplicity:
7 (KAT) Ukladá pomoc pre statočných, bude štítom tým, čo žijú neporušene,

8 (CPDV) serving the paths of justice, and guarding the ways of sanctity.
8 (KAT) lebo chráni cesty spravodlivosti a stráži dráhu svojich ctiteľov.

9 (CPDV) Then you shall understand justice and judgment, and equity, and every good path.
9 (KAT) (Až) vtedy porozumieš, (čo je) spravodlivosť a (čo) právo (je), (čo je to) statočnosť (a) každý dobrý chodník,

10 (CPDV) If wisdom is to enter into your heart, and if knowledge is to 345 become pleasing to your soul,
10 (KAT) bo sa ti múdrosť nasťahuje do srdca a tvoju dušu blažiť bude poznanie,

11 (CPDV) then counsel must guard you, and prudence must serve you,
11 (KAT) rozvaha bude bedliť nad tebou (a) rozumnosť ťa bude strážiť

12 (CPDV) so that you may be rescued from the evil way, and from the man who speaks perversities,
12 (KAT) tak, že ťa od zlej cesty zachová, od človeka, čo vraví mam a klam,

13 (CPDV) from those who leave the straight path to walk in dark ways,
13 (KAT) od (tých), čo zanechali priame chodníky a vykračujú temravými cestami,

14 (CPDV) who rejoice when they have done evil, and who exult in the most wicked things.
14 (KAT) ktorí sa tešia, keď sa môžu podopúšťať zla, rozplývajú sa radosťou z (tých) najmrzkejších výčinov,

15 (CPDV) Their ways are perverse, and their steps are infamous.
15 (KAT) (od ľudí), ktorých cesty sú kľukaté a sú podlí (všade), kde len nohou vykročia.

16 (CPDV) So may you be rescued from the foreign woman, and from the outsider, who softens her speech,
16 (KAT) Zachová ťa (tiež) od manželky blížneho, od cudzinky, čo zalieča sa líškavými rečami,

17 (CPDV) and who leaves behind the Guide of her youth,
17 (KAT) čo zanecháva druha svojej mladosti a zabúda na zmluvu svojho Boha.

18 (CPDV) and who has forgotten the covenant of her God. For her household inclines toward death, and her paths toward Hell.
18 (KAT) Jej dom sa vskutku zvažuje do smrti, jej cesty (vedú) k nebohým.

19 (CPDV) All those who enter to her will not return again, nor will they take hold of the paths of life.
19 (KAT) Nevráti sa nik z tých, ktorí zalietajú k nej, (nik z nich) viac nevkročí na chodník života.

20 (CPDV) So may you walk in the good way, and keep to the difficult paths of the just.
20 (KAT) Preto sa cestou dobrých uberaj a zachovávaj spravodlivých chodníky!

21 (CPDV) For those who are upright shall live upon the earth, and the simple shall continue upon it.
21 (KAT) Lebo (len ľudia) správni budú bývať v krajine a zostanú v nej (iba) počestní.

22 (CPDV) Yet truly, the impious shall perish from the earth, and those who act unjustly shall be taken away from it.
22 (KAT) Nečestní sa odstránia z krajiny a zločinci sa vykorenia z nej.
