Prís 19, 1-29

1 (UKJV) Better is the poor that walks in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.
1 (KAT) Lepší je bedár, ktorý chodí vo svojej bezúhonnosti, ako boháč, ktorý (neopúšťa) svoje krivolaké chodníky.

2 (UKJV) "Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good; and he that hastes with his feet sins. "
2 (KAT) Ani nedostatok rozumného nazerania nie je dobrý, (kto však) naťahuje nohy, potkne sa.

3 (UKJV) The foolishness of man perverts his way: and his heart frets against the LORD.
3 (KAT) Človeku prevracia cesty (vlastné) bláznovstvo, a jeho srdce sa hnevá na Pána.

4 (UKJV) "Wealth makes many friends; but the poor is separated from his neighbour. "
4 (KAT) Bohatstvo získava (čoraz) viac priateľov, chudák však stratí (aj) svojho priateľa.

5 (UKJV) A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaks lies shall not escape.
5 (KAT) Falošný svedok neostane bez trestu a neutečie (ten, kto) vypúšťa (z úst kadejakú) lož.

6 (UKJV) Many will implore the favour of the prince: and every man is a friend to him that gives gifts.
6 (KAT) Mnohí sa koria urodzenému (človekovi) a štedrému sú všetci veľmi oddaní.

7 (UKJV) All the brethren of the poor do hate him: how much more do his friends go far from him? he pursues them with words, yet they are lacking to him.

8 (UKJV) He that gets wisdom loves his own soul: he that keeps understanding shall find good.
8 (KAT) Kto rozvíja (svoj) um, má svoju dušu rád, kto zachováva rozumnosť, dobre sa mu povodí.

9 (UKJV) A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaks lies shall perish.
9 (KAT) Falošný svedok neostane bez trestu a zahynie, kto vypúšťa (z úst kadejakú) lož.

10 (UKJV) "Delight is not suitable for a fool; much less for a servant to have rule over princes. "
10 (KAT) Nesvedčí kratochvíľa bláznovi, pravdaže (ani to), aby sluha nad kniežatami panoval.

11 (UKJV) "The discretion of a man defers his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression. "
11 (KAT) Rozumnosť krotí v človekovi jeho hnev a je mu na česť, že sa vie povzniesť nad previnením.

12 (UKJV) "The king's wrath is as the roaring of a lion; but his favour is as dew upon the grass. "
12 (KAT) Revaniu levíčaťa (sa podobá) kráľov hnev, lež jeho blahosklonnosť je (zas ako) rosa na byli.

13 (UKJV) A foolish son is the calamity of his father: and the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping.
13 (KAT) Bláznivý syn je na nešťastie svojmu otcovi a škriepna žena je sťa neprestajný cícerok.

14 (UKJV) House and riches are the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife is from the LORD.
14 (KAT) I dom, i majetok sa dedia po predkoch, rozumná žena je však od Pána.

15 (UKJV) "Slothfulness casts into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger. "
15 (KAT) Lenivosť pohružuje v spánok hlboký a ťarbák bude hladovať.

16 (UKJV) "He that keeps the commandment keeps his own soul; but he that despises his ways shall die. "
16 (KAT) Kto zachováva prikázanie, zachováva svoj život, zomrie však ten, kto nevšíma si svojich ciest.

17 (UKJV) "He that has pity upon the poor lends unto the LORD; and that which he has given will he pay him again. "
17 (KAT) Požičiava Pánovi, kto sa nad chudákom zľutúva, a on mu jeho dobrodenie odplatí.

18 (UKJV) Chasten your son while there is hope, and let not your soul spare for his crying.
18 (KAT) Bi svojho syna, kým je voľajaká nádej, lež aby si ho zabil, nech ti (ani) na um nezíde!

19 (UKJV) A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment: for if you deliver him, yet you must do it again.
19 (KAT) Kto srší hnevom, nech si znáša trest, lebo keď zachrániš ho (pred ním teraz), ešte pridávaš (k pokute).

20 (UKJV) Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that you may be wise in your latter end.
20 (KAT) Počúvaj radu a prijmi výčitku, pretože (takto) zmúdrieš napokon.

21 (UKJV) "There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand. "
21 (KAT) V ľudskom srdci je veľa myšlienok, podarí sa však (iba) rozhodnutie Pánovo.

22 (UKJV) The desire of a man is his kindness: and a poor man is better than a liar.
22 (KAT) Človekovi vynáša jeho dobrota a lepší bedár ako podvodník.

23 (UKJV) "The fear of the LORD tends to life: and he that has it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil. "
23 (KAT) Báť sa Pána (je užitočné) pre život a (kto tak robí), prenocuje sýty a nestihne (ho) nešťastie.

24 (UKJV) A slothful man hides his hand in his bosom, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.
24 (KAT) Ak leňoch strčí ruku do misy, ani len k ústam nevztiahne ju (späť).

25 (UKJV) Strike a scorner, and the simple will beware: and reprove one that has understanding, and he will understand knowledge.
25 (KAT) Keď bijú posmievača, prostomyseľný sa chytá rozumu, keď vyčíta sa rozumnému, pochopí.

26 (UKJV) He that wastes his father, and chases away his mother, is a son that causes shame, and brings reproach.
26 (KAT) Kto hubí otca, plaší mať, je synom ohavným a hanobným.

27 (UKJV) Cease, my son, to hear the instruction that causes to go astray from the words of knowledge.
27 (KAT) Prestaň, syn môj, počúvať, keď sa ti vyčíta, a zatúlaš sa od rozumných slov.

28 (UKJV) An ungodly witness scorns judgment: and the mouth of the wicked devours iniquity.
28 (KAT) Ničomný svedok posmieva sa zákonu a ústa zloprajníkov hlcú neprávosť.

29 (UKJV) Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of fools.
29 (KAT) Na posmievačov sú pripravené prúty, na chrbty pochábľov však buchnáty.

Verš 1
Better is the poor that walks in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.
Prís 28:6 - Better is the poor that walks in his uprightness, than he that is perverse in his ways, though he be rich.

Verš 3
The foolishness of man perverts his way: and his heart frets against the LORD.
Jak 1:13 - Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempts he any man:

"Wealth makes many friends; but the poor is separated from his neighbour. "
Prís 14:20 - The poor is hated even of his own neighbour: but the rich has many friends.

A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaks lies shall not escape.
Dt 19:19 - Then shall all of you do unto him, as he had thought to have done unto his brother: so shall you put the evil away from among you.
Prís 21:28 - A false witness shall perish: but the man that hears speaks constantly.

Verš 13
A foolish son is the calamity of his father: and the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping.
Prís 10:1 - The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son makes a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.
Prís 15:20 - A wise son makes a glad father: but a foolish man despises his mother.
Prís 17:25 - A foolish son is a grief to his father, and bitterness to her that bare him.
Prís 21:19 - It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.
Prís 27:15 - A continual dropping in a very rainy day and a contentious woman are alike.

Verš 14
House and riches are the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife is from the LORD.
Prís 18:22 - Whoso finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favour of the LORD.

Verš 15
"Slothfulness casts into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger. "
Prís 6:9 - How long will you sleep, O sluggard? when will you arise out of your sleep?
Prís 20:13 - "Love not sleep, lest you come to poverty; open your eyes, and you shall be satisfied with bread. "
Prís 10:4 - He becomes poor that deals with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent makes rich.

"He that keeps the commandment keeps his own soul; but he that despises his ways shall die. "
Prís 3:21 - My son, let not them depart from your eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion:
Lk 11:28 - But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word (o. logos) of God, and keep it.

Verš 18
Chasten your son while there is hope, and let not your soul spare for his crying.
Prís 13:24 - He that spares his rod hates his son: but he that loves him chastens him early.
Prís 23:13 - Withhold not correction from the child: for if you beat him with the rod, he shall not die.
Ef 6:4 - And, all of you fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

"There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand. "
Jób 23:13 - But he is in one mind, and who can turn him? and what his soul desires, even that he does.
Ž 33:11 - The counsel of the LORD stands for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.
Ž 115:3 - But our God is in the heavens: he has done whatsoever he has pleased.

"The fear of the LORD tends to life: and he that has it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil. "
Ž 34:9 - O fear the LORD, all of you his saints: for there is no lack to them that fear him.

Verš 24
A slothful man hides his hand in his bosom, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.
Prís 26:15 - "The slothful hides his hand in his bosom; it grieves him to bring it again to his mouth. "

Verš 25
Strike a scorner, and the simple will beware: and reprove one that has understanding, and he will understand knowledge.
Prís 21:11 - When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is instructed, he receives knowledge.

Pris 19,7 - Polverš k nemu v pôvodine chýba.

Pris 19,13 - "Cícerok" – dážď, čo tečie cez deravú strechu.

Pris 19,17 - Porov. Mt 25,35–40.

Pris 19,18 - Porov. naše porekadlo: "Ohýbaj ma, mamko, pokiaľ som ja Janko; keď už budem Jano, neohneš ma, mamo!"

Pris 19,19 - Pôvodný text v druhom polverši sa nezachoval presne.

Pris 19,22 - Polverše sa k sebe nehodia. Je teda možné, že sa spojovacie verše potratili.
