Prís 19, 1-29

1 (KJV) Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.
1 (ROH) Lepší je chudobný, ktorý chodí vo svojej prostote a nevine, ako ten, kto je prevrátených rtov a je blázon.

2 (KJV) Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet sinneth.
2 (ROH) Ani vtedy, keď je duša bez známosti, nie je dobre, a ten, kto náhli nohami, hreší.

3 (KJV) The foolishness of man perverteth his way: and his heart fretteth against the LORD.
3 (ROH) Bláznovstvo človeka prevracia jeho cestu, a jeho srdce sa hnevá na Hospodina.

4 (KJV) Wealth maketh many friends; but the poor is separated from his neighbour.
4 (ROH) Majetok pridáva mnoho priateľov; ale chudobný býva odlúčený aj od svojho priateľa.

5 (KJV) A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape.
5 (ROH) Falošný svedok nebude bez trestu, a ten, kto hovorí všelijakú lož, neujde.

6 (KJV) Many will intreat the favour of the prince: and every man is a friend to him that giveth gifts.
6 (ROH) Mnohí sa lichotne koria kniežaťu, a každý je priateľom človekovi, ktorý dáva dary.

7 (KJV) All the brethren of the poor do hate him: how much more do his friends go far from him? he pursueth them with words, yet they are wanting to him.
7 (ROH) Všetci bratia chudobného nenávidia ho, a pravdaže vzdialia sa jeho priatelia od neho; ženie sa za slovami útechy, no, tých niet.

8 (KJV) He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keepeth understanding shall find good.
8 (ROH) Rozumu nadobúda, kto miluje svoju dušu; kto ostríha umnosť, robí to nato, aby našiel dobré.

9 (KJV) A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall perish.
9 (ROH) Falošný svedok nebude bez trestu, a ten, kto hovorí lži, zahynie.

10 (KJV) Delight is not seemly for a fool; much less for a servant to have rule over princes.
10 (ROH) Nesvedčí bláznovi rozkoš, a pravdaže nesvedčí sa, aby sluha panoval nad kniežatami.

11 (KJV) The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.
11 (ROH) Rozum človeka zdŕža jeho hnev, a je mu na ozdobu prejsť ponad previnenie.

12 (KJV) The king's wrath is as the roaring of a lion; but his favour is as dew upon the grass.
12 (ROH) Hnev kráľov je ako revanie mladého ľva; ale jeho láskavosť ako rosa na bylinu.

13 (KJV) A foolish son is the calamity of his father: and the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping.
13 (ROH) Bláznivý syn je zkazou svojmu otcovi, a neprestajným kvapkaním so strechy zvady ženy.

14 (KJV) House and riches are the inheritance of fathers and a prudent wife is from the LORD.
14 (ROH) Dom a majetok sú dedičstvom po otcoch, ale od Hospodina rozumná žena.

15 (KJV) Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger.
15 (ROH) Lenivosť ponoruje v hlboký spánok, a nedbalá duša bude lačnieť.

16 (KJV) He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; but he that despiseth his ways shall die.
16 (ROH) Ten, kto ostríha prikázanie, ostríha svoju dušu; kto pohŕda svojimi cestami, zomrie.

17 (KJV) He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.
17 (ROH) Ten, kto sa zľutováva nad chudobným, požičiava Hospodinovi, a on mu odplatí jeho dobrodenie.

18 (KJV) Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying.
18 (ROH) Kázni svojho syna, kým je nádej; ale k tomu, aby si ho zabil, nepozdvihuj svojej duše.

19 (KJV) A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment: for if thou deliver him, yet thou must do it again.
19 (ROH) Človek veľkého hnevu ponesie pokutu, lebo ak ho vytrhneš ešte pridáš.

20 (KJV) Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.
20 (ROH) Poslúchaj radu a prijmi kázeň, aby si bol na koniec múdry.

21 (KJV) There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.
21 (ROH) Mnohé úmysly sú v srdci človeka; ale rada Hospodinova, tá obstojí.

22 (KJV) The desire of a man is his kindness: and a poor man is better than a liar.
22 (ROH) Žiadosť človeka je preukazovať svoju milosť; ale lepší je chudobný ako lhár.

23 (KJV) The fear of the LORD tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.
23 (ROH) Bázeň Hospodinova je na život, a ten, kto v nej chodí, prenocuje sýty noc bez toho, že by bol navštívený zlým.

24 (KJV) A slothful man hideth his hand in his bosom, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.
24 (ROH) Leňoch skrýva svoju ruku vo vačku; ani len k svojim ústam jej nevztiahne.

25 (KJV) Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware: and reprove one that hath understanding, and he will understand knowledge.
25 (ROH) Keď nabiješ posmievača, hlupák sa naučí opatrnosti, a pokarhaj rozumného, porozumie známosti.

26 (KJV) He that wasteth his father, and chaseth away his mother, is a son that causeth shame, and bringeth reproach.
26 (ROH) Ten, kto hubí otca, núti matku utekať, syn, ktorý robí hanbu a potupu.

27 (KJV) Cease, my son, to hear the instruction that causeth to err from the words of knowledge.
27 (ROH) Prestaň, môj synu, prestaň poslúchať naučenie, ktoré vedie k tomu, aby si zablúdil od slov známosti.

28 (KJV) An ungodly witness scorneth judgment: and the mouth of the wicked devoureth iniquity.
28 (ROH) Nešľachetný svedok beliála sa posmieva súdu, a ústa bezbožných hlcú neprávosť.

29 (KJV) Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of fools.
29 (ROH) Na posmievačov sú hotové súdy a údery na chrbát všetkých bláznov.

Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.

The foolishness of man perverteth his way: and his heart fretteth against the LORD.

Wealth maketh many friends; but the poor is separated from his neighbour.

Verš 13
A foolish son is the calamity of his father: and the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping.
Prís 10:1 - The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.
Prís 15:20 - A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish man despiseth his mother.
Prís 17:25 - A foolish son is a grief to his father, and bitterness to her that bare him.
Prís 21:19 - It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.
Prís 27:15 - A continual dropping in a very rainy day and a contentious woman are alike.

Verš 14
House and riches are the inheritance of fathers and a prudent wife is from the LORD.
Prís 18:22 - Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD.

Verš 15
Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger.
Prís 6:9 - How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?
Prís 20:13 - Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open thine eyes, and thou shalt be satisfied with bread.
Prís 10:4 - He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.

He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; but he that despiseth his ways shall die.

Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying.
Prís 13:24 - He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.
Prís 23:13 - Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die.
Ef 6:4 - And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

Verš 21
There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.
Jób 23:13 - But he is in one mind, and who can turn him? and what his soul desireth, even that he doeth.
Ž 33:11 - The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.

Verš 23
The fear of the LORD tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.
Ž 34:9 - O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.

Verš 24
A slothful man hideth his hand in his bosom, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.
Prís 26:15 - The slothful hideth his hand in his bosom; it grieveth him to bring it again to his mouth.

Verš 25
Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware: and reprove one that hath understanding, and he will understand knowledge.
Prís 21:11 - When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.

Pris 19,7 - Polverš k nemu v pôvodine chýba.

Pris 19,13 - "Cícerok" – dážď, čo tečie cez deravú strechu.

Pris 19,17 - Porov. Mt 25,35–40.

Pris 19,18 - Porov. naše porekadlo: "Ohýbaj ma, mamko, pokiaľ som ja Janko; keď už budem Jano, neohneš ma, mamo!"

Pris 19,19 - Pôvodný text v druhom polverši sa nezachoval presne.

Pris 19,22 - Polverše sa k sebe nehodia. Je teda možné, že sa spojovacie verše potratili.
