1 (HEM) לתאוה יבקש נפרד בכל תושיה יתגלע׃
1 (KAT) Zádrapku hľadá, kto by sa rád odlúčiť, všetkými prostriedkami vyvoláva spor.
1 (UKJV) Through desire a man, having separated himself, seeks and intermeddles with all wisdom.

2 (HEM) לא יחפץ כסיל בתבונה כי אם בהתגלות לבו׃
2 (KAT) Umnosť sa nepozdáva bláznovi, len vyjavenie svojich myšlienok.
2 (UKJV) A fool has no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself.

3 (HEM) בבוא רשע בא גם בוז ועם קלון חרפה׃
3 (KAT) Tam, kde príde bezbožný, dostaví sa aj opovrhnutie a s hanbou (príde) potupa.
3 (UKJV) When the wicked comes, then comes also contempt, and with dishonour reproach.

4 (HEM) מים עמקים דברי פי איש נחל נבע מקור חכמה׃
4 (KAT) Sťa vody hlboké sú slová z mužských úst, (sú ako) rozvodnený potok, (ako) prameň múdrosti.
4 (UKJV) The words of a man's mouth are as deep waters, and the wellspring of wisdom as a flowing brook.

5 (HEM) שאת פני רשע לא טוב להטות צדיק במשפט׃
5 (KAT) Je mrzké nadržiavať násilníkovi a toho, kto má pravdu, gniaviť na súde.
5 (UKJV) It is not good to accept the person of the wicked, to overthrow the righteous in judgment.

6 (HEM) שפתי כסיל יבאו בריב ופיו למהלמות יקרא׃
6 (KAT) Pery blázna zapletávajú sa do škriepky a jeho ústa volajú, (že by rád) buchnáty.
6 (UKJV) A fool's lips enter into contention, and his mouth calls for strokes.

7 (HEM) פי כסיל מחתה לו ושפתיו מוקש נפשו׃
7 (KAT) Ústa blázna sú (mu) na skazu a jeho pery sa mu zastrájajú na život.
7 (UKJV) A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul.

8 (HEM) דברי נרגן כמתלהמים והם ירדו חדרי בטן׃
8 (KAT) Slová klebetníka sú sťa lahôdky a schádzajú až na samé dno žalúdka.
8 (UKJV) The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.

9 (HEM) גם מתרפה במלאכתו אח הוא לבעל משחית׃
9 (KAT) Už (aj ten, kto je) vo svojej práci nedbalý, je bratom toho, ktorý (všetko) premárnil.
9 (UKJV) He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great destroyer.

10 (HEM) מגדל עז שם יהוה בו ירוץ צדיק ונשגב׃
10 (KAT) Pánovo meno je pevnou vežou, spravodlivý do nej utečie a je bezpečný.
10 (UKJV) The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runs into it, and is safe.

11 (HEM) הון עשיר קרית עזו וכחומה נשגבה במשכיתו׃
11 (KAT) Majetnosť boháča je pevným mestom preň a sťaby vysoký múr v jeho predstave.
11 (UKJV) The rich man's wealth is his strong city, and as an high wall in his own conceit.

12 (HEM) לפני שבר יגבה לב איש ולפני כבוד ענוה׃
12 (KAT) Pred skazou (býva) povýšenosť srdca ľudského, pred slávou je však pokora.
12 (UKJV) Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honour is humility.

13 (HEM) משיב דבר בטרם ישמע אולת היא לו וכלמה׃
13 (KAT) Ak odpovedá (niekto) skôr, než (riadne) počuje, (za) bláznovstvo (sa) mu (to počíta) a (za) hanbu.
13 (UKJV) He that answers a matter before he hears it, it is folly and shame unto him.

14 (HEM) רוח איש יכלכל מחלהו ורוח נכאה מי ישאנה׃
14 (KAT) Mužný duch znáša svoju chorobu, no myseľ zronenú kto môže zniesť?
14 (UKJV) "The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear? "

15 (HEM) לב נבון יקנה דעת ואזן חכמים תבקש דעת׃
15 (KAT) Rozumné srdce nadobúda vedomosť a ucho múdrych (ľudí) hľadá poznanie.
15 (UKJV) "The heart of the prudent gets knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge. "

16 (HEM) מתן אדם ירחיב לו ולפני גדלים ינחנו׃
16 (KAT) Dar kliesni cestu človeku a vymáha mu prístup k veľmožom.
16 (UKJV) A man's gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men.

17 (HEM) צדיק הראשון בריבו יבא רעהו וחקרו׃
17 (KAT) Spravodlivým (sa zdá ten, kto) prvý (začína) svoj spor, kým nepríde jeho blížny a neusvedčí ho.
17 (UKJV) "He that is first in his own cause seems just; but his neighbour comes and searches him. "

18 (HEM) מדינים ישבית הגורל ובין עצומים יפריד׃
18 (KAT) Lós potlačuje rozopry, rozsudzuje aj mocnárov.
18 (UKJV) The lot causes contentions to cease, and parts between the mighty.

19 (HEM) אח נפשע מקרית עז ומדונים כבריח ארמון׃
19 (KAT) Brat, urazený neverou, (je mocnejší) než mestská tvrdz. Spory sú ako hradné závory.
19 (UKJV) A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city: and their contentions are like the bars of a castle.

20 (HEM) מפרי פי איש תשבע בטנו תבואת שפתיו ישבע׃
20 (KAT) Z ovocia (svojich) úst sa každý nasýti, do sýtosti sa naje žatvy svojich pier.
20 (UKJV) "A man's belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled. "

21 (HEM) מות וחיים ביד לשון ואהביה יאכל פריה׃
21 (KAT) Smrť (priam tak) ako život (býva) v moci jazyka a tí, čo radi (obracajú) ním, budú sa živiť jeho ovocím.
21 (UKJV) Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

22 (HEM) מצא אשה מצא טוב ויפק רצון מיהוה׃
22 (KAT) Kto našiel dobrú ženu, našiel (niečo) znamenité a dostal milostný dar od Pána.
22 (UKJV) Whoso finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favour of the LORD.

23 (HEM) תחנונים ידבר רש ועשיר יענה עזות׃
23 (KAT) Chudák sa prihovára prosebne, lež tvrdo odpovedá bohatý.
23 (UKJV) "The poor uses entreaties; but the rich answers roughly. "

24 (HEM) איש רעים להתרעע ויש אהב דבק מאח׃
24 (KAT) Niekto (má) takých priateľov, čo sú mu (iba) na škodu, niektorý priateľ sa však väčšmi pridŕža než brat.
24 (UKJV) A man that has friends must show himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticks closer than a brother.
