(KJV - Anglický - King James)

Prís 1, 1-33

1 (KJV) The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel;
1 (ROH) Príslovia Šalamúna, syna Dávidovho, izraelského kráľa,

2 (KJV) To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;
2 (ROH) poznať múdrosť a kázeň, porozumieť slovám rozumnosti,

3 (KJV) To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity;
3 (ROH) dosiahnuť kázne rozumu, spravedlivosti, súdu a priamosti,

4 (KJV) To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.
4 (ROH) dať prostým opatrnosť, mládencovi známosť a dômyselnosť.

5 (KJV) A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:
5 (ROH) Nech čuje múdry a priberie naučenia, a rozumný tak nadobudne schopnosti spravovať.

6 (KJV) To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.
6 (ROH) Sú to veci na porozumenie prísloviu a podobenstvu, slovám múdrych a ich záhadným rečiam hlbokým.

7 (KJV) The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
7 (ROH) Bázeň Hospodinova je počiatkom známosti; múdrosťou a kázňou pohŕdajú blázni.

8 (KJV) My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:
8 (ROH) Poslúchaj, môj synu, kázeň svojho otca a neopusti naučenia svojej matky.

9 (KJV) For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.
9 (ROH) Lebo to bude ľúbezným vencom tvojej hlave a ozdobnou reťazou tvojmu hrdlu.

10 (KJV) My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.
10 (ROH) Môj synu, keby ťa nahovárali hriešnici, neprivoľ!

11 (KJV) If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause:
11 (ROH) Keby ti riekli: Nože poď s nami; nastrojíme krvi úklady; skryjeme sa proti nevinnému bez príčiny;

12 (KJV) Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit:
12 (ROH) pohltíme ich živých ako peklo a bezúhonných ako tých, ktorí sostupujú do jamy;

13 (KJV) We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil:
13 (ROH) najdeme rôzny majetok drahocenný; naplníme svoje domy korisťou.

14 (KJV) Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse:
14 (ROH) Vrhni svoj los medzi nami; všetci budeme mať jeden mešec.

15 (KJV) My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path:
15 (ROH) Môj synu, nechoď na cestu s nimi; zdrž svoju nohu od ich chodníka!

16 (KJV) For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.
16 (ROH) Pretože ich nohy bežia ku zlému, a ponáhľajú sa vyliať krv.

17 (KJV) Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird.
17 (ROH) Lebo veď nadarmo sa rozprestiera sieť pred očami ktoréhokoľvek okrýdlenca.

18 (KJV) And they lay wait for their own blood; they lurk privily for their own lives.
18 (ROH) Ale oni úkladia svojej vlastnej krvi; skrývajú sa proti svojim dušiam.

19 (KJV) So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof.
19 (ROH) Také sú cesty každého, kto dychtí po zisku; zisk odníma dušu svojho pána.

20 (KJV) Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets:
20 (ROH) Múdrosť volá hlasne vonku; vydáva svoj hlas na uliciach.

21 (KJV) She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying,

22 (KJV) How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?
22 (ROH) Až dokedy, hlúpi, budete milovať hlúposť, a posmievači dokedy budú obľubovať posmech a blázni nenávidieť známosť?

23 (KJV) Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.
23 (ROH) Obráťte sa k môjmu karhaniu! Hľa, vydám vám zo seba svojho ducha a oznámim vám svoje slová!

24 (KJV) Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;
24 (ROH) No, preto, že som volala, a odopierali ste; vystierala som svoju ruku, a nebolo nikoho, kto by bol pozoroval ušima;

25 (KJV) But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:
25 (ROH) ale ste pustili naprázdno každú moju radu a môjho karhania ste nechceli,

26 (KJV) I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;
26 (ROH) preto sa i ja budem smiať vo vašom nešťastí; budem sa posmievať, keď prijde to, čoho sa strachujete;

27 (KJV) When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.

28 (KJV) Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:
28 (ROH) Vtedy budú volať na mňa, ale sa neohlásim; budú ma pilne hľadať, skoro za rána, ale ma nenajdú,

29 (KJV) For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:
29 (ROH) zato, že nenávideli známosti a nevyvolili si bázne Hospodinovej;

30 (KJV) They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.
30 (ROH) nechceli mojej rady, ale pohŕdali každým mojím káraním,

31 (KJV) Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.

32 (KJV) For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.
32 (ROH) Lebo odvrátenie hlupcov ich samých zabije, a vlastná hriešna ubezpečenosť bláznov, tá ich zahubí.

33 (KJV) But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.
33 (ROH) Ale ten, kto mňa poslúcha, bude bývať bezpečne a bude mať pokoj od strachu zo zlého.

Pris 1,1-6 - Prvá čiastka knihy (1,1 – 9,18) predstavuje všeobecný úvod, ktorý k jadru celej knihy (k jednotlivým prísloviam a naučeniam v ďalších častiach) napísal ich redaktor. 3,27–30 a i.).Za nadpisom (1) spisovateľ uvádza hneď účel tejto zbierky prísloví.

Pris 1,7 - Jadrom všetkej múdrosti, je bázeň pred Pánom, bohabojnosť, ktorá vzdáva úctu Bohu vnútorne i navonok. – Porov. 9,10a.
