Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring me an offering: of every man that gives it willingly with his heart all of you shall take my offering.

Ex 25,1 - Desatoro prikázaní a kniha zmluvy mali usmerňovať a riadiť náboženský, sociálny a mravný život Izraelitov. Ustanovenia a nariadenia o bohoslužbe dáva Mojžiš v nasledujúcich hlavách 25 – 31.
Ex 25,3-7 - Kovy, drahokamy a všelijaké hmoty, ktoré Izraeliti mali obetovať na zariadenie, výzdobu svätostánku, mohli Izraeliti mať z Egypta (3,21 n.; 12,35 n.), alebo si ich zaobstarali od karaván, ktoré tiahli často z východu do Egypta. – Belasý purpur, hyacint, je tmavofialová farba a potom látka zafarbená touto farbou. Farbu vyrábali z tekutiny, ktorú vylučuje lastúra Murex trunculus. Červený purpur, tmavočervená farba, ktorú vyrábali z lastúry Murex brandaris; táto sa vo veľkom počte nachádza na pobreží Stredozemného mora. Karmazín, jasná červená farba. Vyrábali ju z hmyzu, žijúceho na určitých druhoch dubov v Malej Ázii (Lecanium ilicis). Jemné plátno, byssus, alebo kment, hebr. šéš, je ľanové plátno farby snehobielej a veľmi jemné (Gn 41,42). Tachášové kože sú pravdepodobne kože delfína. Koža tohto zvieraťa je pevná a mastná, preto veľmi dobre poslúžila za vrchnú pokrývku svätostánku. Chránila ho pred prudkými dažďami. O kameni ónyxovom pozri Gn 2,12. O efóde a náprsníku porov. 28,6 n. a 28,15 n.
Ex 25,10 - Archa je truhla, skriňa z dreva. Lakeť obyčajný obnášal 49,5 cm, lakeť kráľovský zasa 55 cm. Lenže v Egypte táto miera bola menšia: obyčajný lakeť mal 45 cm, druhý lakeť však 52,8 cm.
Ex 25,16 - Zákon označuje dve kamenné tabule, desatoro Božích prikázaní (31,18; 32,15). Preto archa volá sa aj archou zákona alebo archou zmluvy (Nm 10,33; Dt 10,8).
Ex 25,17 - Vrchnák na arche volá sa tiež zľutovnicou, pretože na tomto vrchnáku v deň zmierenia vykonával veľkňaz očistenie ľudu a svätyne od hriechov, kropil ho krvou (Lv 16,14 n.).
Ex 25,19 - Cherubi, anjeli v ľudskej podobe s krídlami, predstavovali trón Boží (1 Sam 4,4; 2 Sam 6,2; Ž 80,2), kým archa so zľutovnicou bola podnožou Božou. "Prázdne miesto" medzi oboma cherubmi bolo znamením, že Boha nemožno spodobniť a že je nepredmetný.
Ex 25,22 - Na arche sa zjavoval Pán, bol tam mimoriadnym spôsobom prítomný (Nm 10,34 n.; Dt 1,30.42). Boh je síce všade, ale osobitným spôsobom bol tam, kde bola archa (1 Sam 1 – 4).
Ex 25,30 - Stôl predkladných chlebov, dosl. stôl chlebov tváre, čiže stôl Božej tváre, pretože chleby sa kládli pred Pána, pred jeho tvár.
Ex 25,39 - Hrivna zlata bolo asi 49 kg.
