Žalmy

1 (KJV) Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart.
1 (B21) Žalm Asafův. Ano, Bůh je dobrý k Izraeli, k těm, kdo čisté srdce chovají!

2 (KJV) But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped.
2 (B21) Mé nohy ale skoro uklouzly, mé kroky málem zbloudily.

3 (KJV) For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
3 (B21) Začal jsem totiž závidět pyšným vida blahobyt ničemných:

4 (KJV) For there are no bands in their death: but their strength is firm.
4 (B21) Žádnou bolestí se netrápí, tělo mají vypasené, bez vady.

5 (KJV) They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they plagued like other men.
5 (B21) Lidské strádání sami neznají, běžnými bídami nejsou stiženi.

6 (KJV) Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment.
6 (B21) Pýchu jak náhrdelník stavějí na odiv, jak šatem se halí vlastní krutostí.

7 (KJV) Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish.
7 (B21) Oči se jim zalévají tučností, mají víc, než si lze představit.

8 (KJV) They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: they speak loftily.
8 (B21) Smějí se, když mluví o neštěstí, ve své povýšenosti hrozí násilím.

9 (KJV) They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth.
9 (B21) Svými ústy po nebi lapají, jazykem smýkají po zemi.

10 (KJV) Therefore his people return hither: and waters of a full cup are wrung out to them.
10 (B21) Jeho lid se proto hrne za nimi, řeči o hojnosti lačně hltají,

11 (KJV) And they say, How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the most High?
11 (B21) když jim říkají: "Copak Bůh něco ví? Má snad Nejvyšší o něčem ponětí?"

12 (KJV) Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches.
12 (B21) Nuže, takto se mají ničemní - ve stálém pohodlí kupí bohatství!

13 (KJV) Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency.
13 (B21) Já ale chovám své srdce v čistotě; ruce si myji v nevinnosti - zbytečně!

14 (KJV) For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning.
14 (B21) Stíhán jsem ranami celý den, ráno mě čeká další trest.

15 (KJV) If I say, I will speak thus; behold, I should offend against the generation of thy children.
15 (B21) Kdybych však mluvil tímto způsobem, k tvým dětem bych se choval nevěrně!

16 (KJV) When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me;
16 (B21) Chtěl jsem to tedy pochopit rozumem, poznal jsem ale, jak je to nesnadné.

17 (KJV) Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end.
17 (B21) Až když jsem vešel do Boží svatyně, jejich osudu jsem začal rozumět:

18 (KJV) Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them down into destruction.
18 (B21) Na kluzké cesty jsi je postavil, vydals je napospas hrozné záhubě!

19 (KJV) How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors.
19 (B21) V jediném okamžiku budou zahubeni, hrůzy dočista zničí je!

20 (KJV) As a dream when one awaketh; so, O Lord, when thou awakest, thou shalt despise their image.
20 (B21) Jako sen po probuzení, Pane,zaženeš jejich přelud, až procitneš!

21 (KJV) Thus my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my reins.
21 (B21) Když moje srdce hořkost naplnila, v útrobách když mě bolest bodala,

22 (KJV) So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before thee.
22 (B21) nechápavý jsem byl, nic jsem neznal, jak tupé zvíře jsem ti musel připadat!

23 (KJV) Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand.
23 (B21) Vždycky jsem ale s tebou byl, vždyť jsi mě držel za mou pravici.

24 (KJV) Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.
24 (B21) Ty mě povedeš svými záměry a nakonec mě přijmeš do slávy.

25 (KJV) Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.
25 (B21) Koho jiného měl bych na nebi? S tebou netoužím po ničem na zemi!

26 (KJV) My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.
26 (B21) I když mé tělo i srdce strádají, Bůh je má síla, můj podíl navěky!

27 (KJV) For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee.
27 (B21) Hle, jistě zahynou ti, kdo tě opouštějí, skoncuješ se všemi, kdo jsou ti nevěrní.

28 (KJV) But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works.
28 (B21) Mně je však nejlépe v Boží blízkosti; v Hospodinu, svém Pánu, mám svou skrýš - o všech tvých skutcích proto vyprávím!
