Žalmy

1 (KJV) In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion.
1 (B21) Spoléhám na tebe, Hospodine, kéž nejsem nikdy zahanben!

2 (KJV) Deliver me in thy righteousness, and cause me to escape: incline thine ear unto me, and save me.
2 (B21) Pro svou spravedlnost mě vysvoboď, zachovej, nakloň mi ucho své, zachraň mě!

3 (KJV) Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress.
3 (B21) Mou skálou buď, kde měl bych obydlí, kam přijít bych mohl kdykoli. Rozhodls přece, že budu v bezpečí - ty sám jsi mou skálou a pevností!

4 (KJV) Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.
4 (B21) Vysvoboď mě, Bože můj, z ruky ničemy, ze spárů násilníka, jenž páchá bezpráví!

5 (KJV) For thou art my hope, O Lord GOD: thou art my trust from my youth.
5 (B21) Vždyť ty, Hospodine, jsi mou nadějí, na tebe, Pane můj, spoléhám od mládí!

6 (KJV) By thee have I been holden up from the womb: thou art he that took me out of my mother's bowels: my praise shall be continually of thee.
6 (B21) Od svého narození se o tebe opírám, ty jsi mě vyvedl z lůna matčina - navždycky patří ti chvála má!

7 (KJV) I am as a wonder unto many; but thou art my strong refuge.
7 (B21) Mnozí mě mají za varovné znamení, ty jsi však moje pevná skrýš.

8 (KJV) Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honour all the day.
8 (B21) Kéž se má ústa tvou chválou naplní, abych tě mohl celý den velebit!

9 (KJV) Cast me not off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength faileth.
9 (B21) Nezavrhuj mě, když věkem sešlý jsem, když síly pozbývám, neopouštěj mě!

10 (KJV) For mine enemies speak against me; and they that lay wait for my soul take counsel together,
10 (B21) Vždyť moji nepřátelé mluví proti mně, ti, kdo mě špehují, spolu radí se.

11 (KJV) Saying, God hath forsaken him: persecute and take him; for there is none to deliver him.
11 (B21) Říkají: "Bůh ho opustil! Hoňte a chyťte ho - kdo by ho zachránil?!"

12 (KJV) O God, be not far from me: O my God, make haste for my help.
12 (B21) Bože, nevzdaluj se mi, Bože můj, na pomoc pospěš mi!

13 (KJV) Let them be confounded and consumed that are adversaries to my soul; let them be covered with reproach and dishonour that seek my hurt.
13 (B21) Ať jsou zahanbeni, ať už zmizí ti, kdo proti mně chrlí žaloby! Hanbou a potupou ať jsou přikryti ti, kdo usilují o mé neštěstí!

14 (KJV) But I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee more and more.
14 (B21) Já zatím budu doufat bez ustání, chválit tě budu víc a víc.

15 (KJV) My mouth shall shew forth thy righteousness and thy salvation all the day; for I know not the numbers thereof.
15 (B21) Vyprávět budu o tvé spravedlnosti, celý den mluvit o tvém spasení - ač nevím ani, jak je vypočíst!

16 (KJV) I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD: I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only.
16 (B21) Přistoupím s chválou Hospodinova hrdinství, tvou spravedlnost, Pane, připomínat chci!

17 (KJV) O God, thou hast taught me from my youth: and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works.
17 (B21) Učils mě, Bože, od mládí, až dosud vyprávím o tvých zázracích.

18 (KJV) Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come.
18 (B21) Neopouštěj mě, Bože, když stárnu a šedivím, tomuto pokolení než tvou sílu vyjevím, o tvé moci než zpravím všechny potomky!

19 (KJV) Thy righteousness also, O God, is very high, who hast done great things: O God, who is like unto thee!
19 (B21) Tvá spravedlnost, Bože, sahá do výšin, ohromné věci provádíš - kdo je ti, Bože, podobný?

20 (KJV) Thou, which hast shewed me great and sore troubles, shalt quicken me again, and shalt bring me up again from the depths of the earth.
20 (B21) Dal jsi mi okusit hrozné úzkosti, k životu mě ale znovu navrátíš, zpět mě vytáhneš z nejhlubších propastí!

21 (KJV) Thou shalt increase my greatness, and comfort me on every side.
21 (B21) Mou vážnost znovu posílíš, vrátíš se, abys mě utěšil.

22 (KJV) I will also praise thee with the psaltery, even thy truth, O my God: unto thee will I sing with the harp, O thou Holy One of Israel.
22 (B21) Já tě pak, Bože můj, při lyře oslavím, zazpívám o tvé věrnosti, na citeře ti žalmy zahraji, Svatý izraelský!

23 (KJV) My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing unto thee; and my soul, which thou hast redeemed.
23 (B21) Radostně ti budou zpívat mé rty i moje duše, kterou jsi vykoupil.

24 (KJV) My tongue also shall talk of thy righteousness all the day long: for they are confounded, for they are brought unto shame, that seek my hurt.
24 (B21) Můj jazyk stále bude tvou spravedlnost velebit - že byli zahanbeni, že se styděli ti, kdo usilovali o mé neštěstí!
