Žalmy

1 (KJV) Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer: preserve my life from fear of the enemy.
1 (B21) Pro předního zpěváka. Žalm Davidův.

2 (KJV) Hide me from the secret counsel of the wicked; from the insurrection of the workers of iniquity:
2 (B21) Slyš, Bože, hlas mého naříkání, před hrozbou nepřátel mě ochraňuj.

3 (KJV) Who whet their tongue like a sword, and bend their bows to shoot their arrows, even bitter words:
3 (B21) Před úklady zlých mě prosím ukryj, před vzpourou tlupy zločinců!

4 (KJV) That they may shoot in secret at the perfect: suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not.
4 (B21) Jazyky si jak meče naostřili, jak šípy míří slovy krutými.

5 (KJV) They encourage themselves in an evil matter: they commune of laying snares privily; they say, Who shall see them?
5 (B21) Nevinného chtějí trefit ze zálohy, bez obav na něj náhle vystřelí!

6 (KJV) They search out iniquities; they accomplish a diligent search: both the inward thought of every one of them, and the heart, is deep.
6 (B21) Ve svých zlých plánech se utvrzují, jednají o tom, jak pasti nastražit. "Kdo by to viděl?" říkají si,

7 (KJV) But God shall shoot at them with an arrow; suddenly shall they be wounded.
7 (B21) "Kdo by vypátral naše zločiny?" Vypátrá je Ten, jenž do nitra hledí, jenž pátrá v hlubinách srdce člověka!

8 (KJV) So they shall make their own tongue to fall upon themselves: all that see them shall flee away.
8 (B21) Bůh po nich tehdy svým šípem střelí, upadnou náhle, plní ran!

9 (KJV) And all men shall fear, and shall declare the work of God; for they shall wisely consider of his doing.
9 (B21) Jazyky svými sami se srazí, každý, kdo spatří je, se otřese.

10 (KJV) The righteous shall be glad in the LORD, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory.
10 (B21) Bázeň pak zachvátí všechny lidi, o Božích skutcích budou vyprávět, nad jeho dílem přemýšlet!

11 (B21) Spravedlivý se bude v Hospodinu těšit, že svěřil se jeho ochraně. Jásat pak budou spolu všichni, kdo mají srdce upřímné!
