Žalmy

1 (KJV) O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;
1 (B21) Žalm Davidův, když byl v Judské poušti.

2 (KJV) To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.
2 (B21) Ty jsi můj Bůh, tebe hledám, Bože, má duše žízní po tobě! Po tobě dychtí tělo mé jak suchá země prahnoucí po vodě.

3 (KJV) Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.
3 (B21) Kéž bych tě ve svatyni znovu uviděl, tvou sílu a tvou slávu kéž bych zakoušel!

4 (KJV) Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.
4 (B21) Lepší než život je láska tvá, mé rty tě proto budou opěvat.

5 (KJV) My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips:
5 (B21) Budu tě chválit po dobu života a ve tvém jménu ruce pozvedat.

6 (KJV) When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.
6 (B21) Mou duši nasytí lahodná hostina, hlasitou písní tě slaví ústa má!

7 (KJV) Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.
7 (B21) Když ležím na lůžku, na tebe pamatuji, při nočním bdění o tobě přemýšlím.

8 (KJV) My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.
8 (B21) Vždycky jsi byl mou pomocí - zpívám ve stínu křídel tvých!

9 (KJV) But those that seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go into the lower parts of the earth.
9 (B21) K tobě jsem přilnul celou svou duší, ty mě podpíráš svou pravicí.

10 (KJV) They shall fall by the sword: they shall be a portion for foxes.
10 (B21) Ti, kdo však usilují o zkázu mé duše, sami se propadnou hluboko do země.

11 (KJV) But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that sweareth by him shall glory: but the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped.
11 (B21) Každý z nich zahyne ostřím meče, pokrmem šakalů stanou se!

12 (B21) Král se však v Bohu zaraduje, zajásá každý, kdo přísahá skrze něj, ústa lhářů až zavřou se!
