1 Ž 61, 1 "Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. " 2 Ž 61, 2 From the end of the earth will I cry unto you, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. 3 Ž 61, 3 For you have been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy. 4 Ž 61, 4 I will abide in your tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of your wings. Selah. 5 Ž 61, 5 For you, O God, have heard my vows: you have given me the heritage of those that fear your name. 6 Ž 61, 6 You will prolong the king's life: and his years as many generations. 7 Ž 61, 7 He shall abide before God for ever: O prepare mercy and truth, which may preserve him. 8 Ž 61, 8 So will I sing praise unto your name for ever, that I may daily perform my vows.

Z 61,2 - Hoci Pán je všade, žalmista predsa obracia svoje oči a srdce k Sionu, kde osobitným spôsobom prebýva Pán na svojom tróne nad archou zmluvy. "Od konca zeme volám…" tieto slová značia veľkú vzdialenosť.
Z 61,7 - Kráľ si v dôvere v Božie sľuby žiada dlhý život. Aj pri vzbure sa tu modlí za seba, ale jeho slová majú širší dosah, zahrnujú všetkých jeho nástupcov na tróne a splnia sa len v osobe Mesiáša, ktorý bude kraľovať naveky a ktorého Kráľovstvu nebude konca (2 Sam 7,12-16; Lk 1,32-33).
