Žalmy

1 (KJV) Hear this, all ye people; give ear, all ye inhabitants of the world:
1 (B21) Pro předního zpěváka. Žalm synů Korachových.

2 (KJV) Both low and high, rich and poor, together.
2 (B21) Všechny národy, naslouchejte, obyvatelé světa, poslyšte,

3 (KJV) My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding.
3 (B21) obyčejní lidé tak jako důležití, ať už jste chudí nebo bohatí.

4 (KJV) I will incline mine ear to a parable: I will open my dark saying upon the harp.
4 (B21) Z mých úst teď moudrá slova zazní, rozumně mé srdce přemýšlí,

5 (KJV) Wherefore should I fear in the days of evil, when the iniquity of my heels shall compass me about?
5 (B21) své ucho nakláním k moudré písni, za zvuků citery tajemství odhalím:

6 (KJV) They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches;
6 (B21) Proč bych se bát měl ve zlých časech, když jsem obklopen záští nepřátel?

7 (KJV) None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him:
7 (B21) Oni se spoléhají na vlastní jmění, chlubí se velikostí svého bohatství.

8 (KJV) (For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceaseth for ever:)
8 (B21) Jeden druhého však vykoupit nedokáže, nevnutí za něj Bohu úplatek.

9 (KJV) That he should still live for ever, and not see corruption.
9 (B21) Výkupné za život je příliš drahé, nikdo z nich toto nikdy nesvede!

10 (KJV) For he seeth that wise men die, likewise the fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others.
10 (B21) Nikdo nebude naživu věčně, hrobová jáma nikoho nemine.

11 (KJV) Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue for ever, and their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names.
11 (B21) Jak vidno, i moudrý člověk zemře, stejně tak hyne tupec a hrubián, každý své jmění cizím zanechá!

12 (KJV) Nevertheless man being in honour abideth not: he is like the beasts that perish.
12 (B21) Jejich hroby jim budou věčnými domy, na věky věků jim budou obydlím, třebaže dříve vlastnili pozemky.

13 (KJV) This their way is their folly: yet their posterity approve their sayings. Selah.
13 (B21) Při vší své nádheře tu lidé nezůstanou, tak jako zvířata musí zahynout!

14 (KJV) Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling.
14 (B21) Takto dopadnou, kdo jsou si sebou jistí, i ti, kdo obdivují jejich výroky. séla

15 (KJV) But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Selah.
15 (B21) Do hrobu zahnáni budou jak ovce, smrt bude nakonec jejich pastýřem! Ráno pak poctiví pošlapají je, když jejich tělo bude v hrobě hnít daleko od jejich slavných obydlí.

16 (KJV) Be not thou afraid when one is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased;
16 (B21) Můj život ale Bůh z hrobu vykoupí, on mě vytrhne z jeho sevření! séla

17 (KJV) For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away: his glory shall not descend after him.
17 (B21) Proto se nestrachuj, když někdo bohatne ani když jeho dům slavně vzmáhá se.

18 (KJV) Though while he lived he blessed his soul: and men will praise thee, when thou doest well to thyself.
18 (B21) Až zemře, nic s sebou nepobere, jeho nádhera s ním dolů nepůjde.

19 (KJV) He shall go to the generation of his fathers; they shall never see light.
19 (B21) Za svého života sám sobě dobrořečil: "Musí se uznat, že máš blahobyt!"

20 (KJV) Man that is in honour, and understandeth not, is like the beasts that perish.
20 (B21) Musí však odejít za svými předky, světlo už nikdy nespatří.
