Žalmy

1 (KJV) I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
1 (KAT) Zbormajstrovi. Dávidov žalm.

2 (KJV) He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
2 (KAT) Čakal som, čakal na Pána a on sa ku mne sklonil.

3 (KJV) And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.
3 (KAT) Vyslyšal môj nárek a vytiahol ma z jamy hrôzy, z bahnitého kalu. Nohy mi postavil na skalu a kroky mi upevnil.

4 (KJV) Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.
4 (KAT) Do úst mi vložil pieseň novú, chválospev nášmu Bohu. Mnohí to uvidia a bázeň ich naplní a budú dúfať v Pána.

5 (KJV) Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.
5 (KAT) Blažený človek, čo v Pána skladá dôveru a nevšíma si pyšných ani náchylných klamať.

6 (KJV) Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.
6 (KAT) Veľa zázrakov si urobil, Pane, Bože môj; a v tvojich zámeroch s nami kto sa ti vyrovná? Aj keby som ich chcel rozhlásiť a vyrozprávať všetky, toľko ich je, že sa nedajú spočítať.

7 (KJV) Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,
7 (KAT) Obety a dary si nepraješ, lež uši si mi otvoril. Nežiadaš žertvu ani obetu zmierenia,

8 (KJV) I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.
8 (KAT) preto som povedal: „Hľa, prichádzam. Vo zvitku knihy je napísané o mne,

9 (KJV) I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O LORD, thou knowest.
9 (KAT) že mám plniť tvoju vôľu. A to chcem, Bože môj, hlboko v srdci mám tvoj zákon.“

10 (KJV) I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.
10 (KAT) Ohlasujem tvoju spravodlivosť vo veľkom zhromaždení; svojim perám hovoriť nebránim, Pane, ty to vieš.

11 (KJV) Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O LORD: let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me.
11 (KAT) Tvoju spravodlivosť si v srdci neskrývam, rozprávam o tvojej vernosti a o tvojej spáse. Neskrývam tvoju milosť a pravdu pred veľkým zhromaždením.

12 (KJV) For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head: therefore my heart faileth me.
12 (KAT) Ale ty, Pane, neodnímaj mi svoje milosrdenstvo, tvoja milosť a tvoja pravda nech mi vždy pomáhajú.

13 (KJV) Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me: O LORD, make haste to help me.
13 (KAT) Zo všetkých strán sa na mňa kopia nespočetné pohromy, opantalo ma toľko hriechov, že nemám o nich prehľadu. A je ich viac, než mám vlasov na hlave, až mi z toho srdce zamiera.

14 (KJV) Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil.
14 (KAT) Pane, ráč ma zachrániť, príď mi čím skôr na pomoc.

15 (KJV) Let them be desolate for a reward of their shame that say unto me, Aha, aha.
15 (KAT) Nech sa hanbia a červenajú všetci dovedna, čo mi číhajú na život a čo mi ho chcú zničiť. Nech sú zavrátení a nech sa hanbia tí, čo mi chcú zle.

16 (KJV) Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified.
16 (KAT) Nech zmeravejú hanbou tí, čo mi hovoria: „Tak mu treba!“

17 (KJV) But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.
17 (KAT) No nech jasajú a nech sa v tebe tešia všetci, čo ťa hľadajú. A tí, čo túžia po tvojej pomoci, nech stále hovoria: „Nech je zvelebený Pán!“

18 ----
18 (KAT) Ja som síce biedny a úbohý, no Pán sa stará o mňa. Ty si moja pomoc a môj osloboditeľ, Bože môj, nemeškaj.
