Žalmy

1 (KJV) Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.
1 (B21) Žalm Davidův. Nezlob se kvůli zlosynům, nezáviď těm, kdo křivdu působí -

2 (KJV) For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.
2 (B21) vždyť jako tráva uschnou znenadání, jak jarní zeleň uvadnou!

3 (KJV) Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.
3 (B21) Spoléhej na Hospodina, konej dobro, obývej zemi a žij v bezpečí.

4 (KJV) Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
4 (B21) V Hospodinu měj svoji rozkoš - on touhy tvého srdce naplní!

5 (KJV) Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
5 (B21) Hospodinu svěř svoji cestu, doufej v něj a on to učiní:

6 (KJV) And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.
6 (B21) vyvede tvou spravedlnost na denní světlo, tvou nevinu na slunce polední.

7 (KJV) Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
7 (B21) Zůstávej v klidu před Hospodinem, trpělivě na něj vyčkávej. Nezlob se, když někdo slaví úspěch, když někdo provádí, co si umane.

8 (KJV) Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.
8 (B21) Vyhni se hněvu, zanech zášti, nezlob se, vždyť to jen uškodí.

9 (KJV) For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.
9 (B21) Bídáci přece budou vymýceni, doufající v Hospodina však zemi obdrží.

10 (KJV) For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.
10 (B21) Za malou chvíli ničema zmizí, ohlédneš se po něm, a už tu nebude.

11 (KJV) But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.
11 (B21) Pokorní ale obdrží zemi, rozkoš naleznou v hojnosti pokoje.

12 (KJV) The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth.
12 (B21) Ničema proti poctivému kuje pikle, zuby na něj skřípe zuřivě,

13 (KJV) The Lord shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming.
13 (B21) Hospodin se mu ale směje - vidí, že přichází jeho den!

14 (KJV) The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation.
14 (B21) S taseným mečem, s napjatým lukem ničemové napadají chudáky ubohé, aby pobili ty, kdo žijí poctivě.

15 (KJV) Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.
15 (B21) Ten jejich meč je však bodne do srdce, ten jejich luk se rozláme!

16 (KJV) A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked.
16 (B21) Lepší je málo, co má spravedlivý, nežli bohatství spousty ničemů.

17 (KJV) For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the LORD upholdeth the righteous.
17 (B21) Paže ničemů budou zpřelámány, spravedlivým je ale Hospodin podporou.

18 (KJV) The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever.
18 (B21) Hospodin zná dny bezúhonných, jejich dědictví obstojí navěky.

19 (KJV) They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.
19 (B21) V zlých dobách nebudou zahanbeni, v hladových dnech se nasytí.

20 (KJV) But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away.
20 (B21) Ničemové však budou zahubeni, Hospodinovi nepřátelé vymizí, jako když trávu z pastviny pohlcuje dým.

21 (KJV) The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again: but the righteous sheweth mercy, and giveth.
21 (B21) Ničema dluží a nechce platit, spravedlivý však má soucit a rozdává.

22 (KJV) For such as be blessed of him shall inherit the earth; and they that be cursed of him shall be cut off.
22 (B21) Požehnaní od Boha obdrží zemi, vyhnáni však budou ti, jež proklíná.

23 (KJV) The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.
23 (B21) Kroky člověka Hospodin potvrzuje, když jeho cestu schvaluje.

24 (KJV) Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.
24 (B21) I kdyby zakolísal, přece neupadne, Hospodin za ruku drží jej.

25 (KJV) I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.
25 (B21) Býval jsem mlád a už jsem starý, nikdy jsem ale nezažil, že by byl opuštěn spravedlivý a jeho potomci že by žebrali.

26 (KJV) He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed.
26 (B21) Stále má soucit a půjčuje druhým, požehnáním jsou i jeho potomci.

27 (KJV) Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore.
27 (B21) Odmítej zlo a konej dobro, pak budeš bydlet v zemi navždycky.

28 (KJV) For the LORD loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.
28 (B21) Hospodin totiž miluje právo, nikdy se nezřekne věrných svých; navěky budou zachováni, potomci ničemů však vymizí.

29 (KJV) The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever.
29 (B21) Spravedliví ale obdrží zemi a budou v ní bydlet navždycky.

30 (KJV) The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment.
30 (B21) Ústa spravedlivého moudře mluví, jazykem pronáší spravedlivý soud,

31 (KJV) The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.
31 (B21) Zákon svého Boha si nosí v srdci, jeho kroky se nezvrtnou.

32 (KJV) The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him.
32 (B21) Ničema na spravedlivého číhá, hledá způsob, jak ho zahubit,

33 (KJV) The LORD will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged.
33 (B21) Hospodin ho však nenechá v jeho rukách, nedá ho odsoudit v jeho při!

34 (KJV) Wait on the LORD, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.
34 (B21) Spoléhej na Hospodina a drž se jeho cesty. On tě povýší, abys obdržel zemi, ničemy ale vymýtí, uvidíš!

35 (KJV) I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree.
35 (B21) Viděl jsem ničemu hrozné síly, jak rozložitý cedr se rozprostřel.

36 (KJV) Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not: yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.
36 (B21) Pominul ale - hle, už není, když jsem ho hledal, nic jsem nenašel!

37 (KJV) Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.
37 (B21) Pohleď na poctivé, všímej si upřímných - budoucnost patří pokojným.

38 (KJV) But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off.
38 (B21) Všichni vzpurní však budou vyhlazeni, ničemové nemají žádné vyhlídky!

39 (KJV) But the salvation of the righteous is of the LORD: he is their strength in the time of trouble.
39 (B21) Od Hospodina je záchrana spravedlivých, on je jim silou v čase soužení.

40 (KJV) And the LORD shall help them and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.
40 (B21) Hospodin je jim pomocí a vysvobozením, zachrání je před ničemy, vysvobodí je, vždyť v něho doufají!
