Ž 16, 1-11

1 (KJV) Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust.
1 (KAT) Miktam. Dávidov žalm. Ochráň ma, Bože, k tebe sa utiekam.

2 (KJV) O my soul, thou hast said unto the LORD, Thou art my Lord: my goodness extendeth not to thee;
2 (KAT) Hovorím Pánovi: „Ty si môj Pán. Pre mňa niet šťastia bez teba.“

3 (KJV) But to the saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent, in whom is all my delight.
3 (KAT) Svätým a slávnym mužom v krajine patrí moja plná priazeň.

4 (KJV) Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god: their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips.
4 (KAT) Rozmnožujú sa útrapy tých, čo sa ženú za cudzími bôžikmi. Nebudem vylievať krv na ich obetu, ani ich mená nevezmem na pery.

5 (KJV) The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot.
5 (KAT) Ty, Pane, si môj podiel na dedičstve a na kalichu, v tvojich rukách je môj osud.

6 (KJV) The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.
6 (KAT) Pripadol mi diel v kraji prekrásnom: a je to pre mňa znamenité dedičstvo.

7 (KJV) I will bless the LORD, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons.
7 (KAT) Velebím Pána, čo ma múdrosťou obdaril; v noci ma k tomu moje srdce vyzýva.

8 (KJV) I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
8 (KAT) Pána mám vždy pred očami; a pretože je po mojej pravici, nezakolíšem sa.

9 (KJV) Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.
9 (KAT) Preto sa raduje moje srdce a moja duša plesá aj moje telo odpočíva v nádeji.

10 (KJV) For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
10 (KAT) Lebo nenecháš moju dušu v podsvetí a nedovolíš, aby tvoj svätý videl porušenie.

11 (KJV) Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
11 (KAT) Ukážeš mi cestu života. U teba je plnosť radosti, po tvojej pravici večná slasť.

Verš 8

I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

O my soul, thou hast said unto the LORD, Thou art my Lord: my goodness extendeth not to thee;

Jób 22:2 - Can a man be profitable unto God, as he that is wise may be profitable unto himself?

Jób 35:7 - If thou be righteous, what givest thou him? or what receiveth he of thine hand?

Ž 50:9 - I will take no bullock out of thy house, nor he goats out of thy folds.

Rim 11:35 - Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again?

Verš 10

For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

Sk 2:31 - He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.

Sk 13:35 - Wherefore he saith also in another psalm, Thou shalt not suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

Verš 5

The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot.

Nár 3:24 - The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.

Z 16 - Nevieme, kedy a za akých okolností vznikol tento žalm. Autorom je Dávid, o čom svedčí nadpis žalmu, sv. Peter (Sk 2,25) a sv. Pavol (Sk 13,35). Žalm je mesiášsky, a to direktne, priamo. To znamená, že sa celý žalm vo vlastnom zmysle a v prvom poňatí vzťahuje na Mesiáša a len ohraničene a čiastočne ho možno chápať o Dávidovi. Sv. Peter uvádza 10. verš tohto žalmu ako prorockú predpoveď Kristovho zmŕtvychvstania. Podobne aj sv. Pavol tvrdí, že 10. verš sa splnil v Spasiteľovom zmŕtvychvstaní.

Z 16,5 - "Ty si môj podiel". Metafora tohto verša je prevzatá z časov Jozueho, keď po dobytí Palestíny podelili krajinu medzi jednotlivé kmene a rodiny. Zem sa rozmeriavala povrazom a potom sa o podieloch žrebovalo. Komu čo pripadlo, to bola jeho dedičná čiastka. Kmeň Léviho nedostal však územie, lebo jeho dedičstvom ostal Pán. Druhý obraz je prevzatý zo zvykov pri hostinách, kde mal každý určený svoj kalich.

Z 16,10 - "Podsvetie", šeól, je miesto mŕtvych. "Svätý", hebr. "tvoj miláčik", ktorého ty miluješ. "Porušenie", hebr. "šahát", značí jamu, hrob, ale i porušenie tela, rozklad, hnitie.
