(KJV - Anglický - King James)

Ž 144, 1-15

1 (KJV) Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight:
1 (B21) Žalm Davidův. Požehnán buď Hospodin, skála má! On učí mé ruce bojovat, mé prsty chystá na zápas.

2 (KJV) My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me.
2 (B21) On je má láska, můj pevný hrad, mé útočiště, má záchrana. On je můj štít, na něj spoléhám, i národy mi poddává.

3 (KJV) LORD, what is man, that thou takest knowledge of him! or the son of man, that thou makest account of him!
3 (B21) Co je, Hospodine, člověk, že o něm víš, co je lidský tvor, že o něm přemýšlíš?

4 (KJV) Man is like to vanity: his days are as a shadow that passeth away.
4 (B21) Člověk je páře podobný, jeho dny míjejí jako stín.

5 (KJV) Bow thy heavens, O LORD, and come down: touch the mountains, and they shall smoke.
5 (B21) Sestup, Hospodine, své nebe rozetni, dotkni se hor, ať dýmají!

6 (KJV) Cast forth lightning, and scatter them: shoot out thine arrows, and destroy them.
6 (B21) Zasáhni bleskem, nepřátele rozptyl, vyšli své šípy, abys je rozdrtil!

7 (KJV) Send thine hand from above; rid me, and deliver me out of great waters, from the hand of strange children;
7 (B21) Vztáhni svou ruku z výšiny, z mohutných vod mě vyprosti, z ruky cizáků mě vytrhni!

8 (KJV) Whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood.
8 (B21) Ti mají ústa plná lži, křivě přísahají svou pravicí!

9 (KJV) I will sing a new song unto thee, O God: upon a psaltery and an instrument of ten strings will I sing praises unto thee.
9 (B21) Novou píseň ti pak, Bože, zazpívám, na desetistrunné loutně zahraju ti žalm.

10 (KJV) It is he that giveth salvation unto kings: who delivereth David his servant from the hurtful sword.
10 (B21) Ty umíš vítězství králům darovat, vyprostíš svého služebníka Davida! Od krutého meče

11 (KJV) Rid me, and deliver me from the hand of strange children, whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood:
11 (B21) mě vyprosti, z ruky cizáků mě vytrhni! Ti mají ústa plná lži, křivě přísahají svou pravicí!

12 (KJV) That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the similitude of a palace:
12 (B21) Naši synové ať jsou ve svém mládí jak sazenice zdárně rostoucí; naše dcery ať jsou jako sloupy stavbu paláce zdobící.

13 (KJV) That our garners may be full, affording all manner of store: that our sheep may bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our streets:
13 (B21) Naše spižírny ať plné jsou, ať oplývají veškerou potravou; naše ovce ať rodí tisíce mladých, desítky tisíc na naše pastviny.

14 (KJV) That our oxen may be strong to labour; that there be no breaking in, nor going out; that there be no complaining in our streets.
14 (B21) Náš dobytek ať je obtěžkaný, ať nejsou vpády ani vyhnanství, ať není nářek v našich ulicích.

15 (KJV) Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the LORD.
15 (B21) Blaze lidu, jenž toto zakouší, blaze lidu, jehož Bůh je Hospodin!
