Žalmy

1 (CPDV) A Psalm of David versus Goliath. Blessed is the Lord, my God, who trains my hands for the battle and my fingers for the war.
1 (KAT) Dávidov žalm. Pane, vyslyš moju modlitbu, pre svoju vernosť vypočuj moju úpenlivú prosbu, pre svoju spravodlivosť ma vyslyš.

2 (CPDV) My mercy and my refuge, my supporter and my deliverer, my protector and him in whom I have hoped: he subdues my people under me.
2 (KAT) A svojho služobníka na súd nevolaj, veď nik, kým žije, nie je spravodlivý pred tebou.

3 (CPDV) O Lord, what is man that you have become known to him? Or the son of man that you consider him?
3 (KAT) Nepriateľ ma prenasleduje, zráža ma k zemi, do temnôt ma vrhá ako dávno mŕtveho.

4 (CPDV) Man has been made similar to vanity. His days pass by like a shadow.
4 (KAT) Duch sa mi zmieta v úzkostiach; v hrudi mi srdce meravie.

5 (CPDV) O Lord, incline your heavens and descend. Touch the mountains, and they will smoke.
5 (KAT) Spomínam si na uplynulé dni, o všetkých tvojich skutkoch rozmýšľam a uvažujem o dielach tvojich rúk.

6 (CPDV) Send a flash of lightning, and you will scatter them. Shoot your arrows, and you will set them in disarray.
6 (KAT) Vystieram k tebe ruky, za tebou dychtím ako vyprahnutá zem.

7 (CPDV) Send forth your hand from on high: rescue me, and free me from many waters, from the hand of the sons of foreigners.
7 (KAT) Rýchle ma vyslyš, Pane, lebo už klesám na duchu. Neskrývaj predo mnou svoju tvár, aby som nebol ako tí, čo zostupujú do hrobu.

8 (CPDV) Their mouth has been speaking vain things, and their right hand is the right hand of iniquity.
8 (KAT) Včasráno mi daj pocítiť, že si sa zmiloval nado mnou, lebo sa spolieham na teba. Ukáž mi cestu, po ktorej mám kráčať, veď svoju dušu dvíham ku tebe.

9 (CPDV) To you, O God, I will sing a new song. On the psaltery, with an instrument of ten strings, I will sing psalms to you.
9 (KAT) Pred nepriateľmi ma zachráň; Pane, k tebe sa utiekam.

10 (CPDV) He gives salvation to kings. He has redeemed your servant David from the malignant sword.
10 (KAT) Nauč ma plniť tvoju vôľu, lebo ty si môj Boh; na správnu cestu nech ma vedie tvoj dobrý duch.

11 (CPDV) Rescue me, and deliver me from the hand of the sons of foreigners. Their mouth has been speaking vain things, and their right hand is the right hand of iniquity.
11 (KAT) Pre svoje meno, Pane, zachováš ma nažive; pretože si spravodlivý, vyveď ma z úzkosti.

12 (CPDV) Their sons are like new plantings in their youth. Their daughters are dressed up: adorned all around like the idols of a temple.
12 (KAT) Vo svojom milosrdenstve znič mojich nepriateľov, zahub všetkých, čo ma sužujú, veď ja som tvoj služobník.

13 (CPDV) Their cupboards are full: overflowing from one thing into another. Their sheep bear young, brought forth in abundance.

14 (CPDV) Their cattle are fat. There is no ruined wall or passage, nor anyone crying out in their streets.

15 (CPDV) They have called the people that has these things: blessed. But blessed is the people whose God is the Lord.
