1 (KJV) LORD, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty: neither do I exercise myself in great matters, or in things too high for me.
1 (B21) Davidova poutní píseň. Nemám, Hospodine, srdce naduté, povýšeným zrakem nerozhlížím se. Do ničeho přehnaného se nepouštím, do ničeho, co je nad mé možnosti.
2 (KJV) Surely I have behaved and quieted myself, as a child that is weaned of his mother: my soul is even as a weaned child.
2 (B21) Což nejsem spokojený a poklidný, jako když matka své dítě nakojí? Právě nakojenému se podobá ve mně duše má.
3 (KJV) Let Israel hope in the LORD from henceforth and for ever.

Z 131 - Žalmista, rozcítený a naplnený zbožnosťou voči Pánovi, zrieka sa hĺbania veľkých a neprístupných právd. Uspokojený a utíšený sa odovzdáva do Božej opatery ako dieťa, keď odpočíva na lone svojej matky. Obsah tohto žalmu nám pripomína slová sv. Augustína, ktorý po svojich trpkých životných skúškach zvolal: "Nespokojné je naše srdce, kým nespočinie v tebe" (Vyznania 1,1, PL 32,661).
