1 (UKJV) Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman wakes but in vain.
1 (ROH) Ak nebude Hospodin staväť dom, nadarmo sa namáhajú tí, ktorí ho staväjú. Ak nebude Hospodin strážiť mesto, nadarmo bdeje strážca.
2 (UKJV) It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he gives his beloved sleep.
2 (ROH) Daromné vám je skoro vstávať, neskoro sadať a jesť chlieb bolesti. Bôh i tak dáva svojmu milému sen.
3 (UKJV) Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
3 (ROH) Hľa, dedičstvo od Hospodina sú synovia, jeho plácou plod života.
4 (UKJV) "As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. "
4 (ROH) Jako strely v ruke hrdinu, tak synovia mladosti.
5 (UKJV) Happy is the man that has his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.
5 (ROH) Blahoslavený muž, ktorý nimi naplnil svoj túl. Nezahanbia sa, keď budú hovoriť s nepriateľmi v bráne.

Z 127 - Všetko šťastie a zdar závisí od Božieho požehnania.
Z 127,5 - Blažený je človek, ktorý má viac synov - "ktorý si nimi tulec naplnil" - metafora z vojenskej oblasti. "Rokovať s nepriateľmi v bráne." Pri mestských bránach sa aj súdilo. I tu najbližší z rodiny mohli obžalovanému alebo žalujúcemu výdatne pomáhať.
