1 (UKJV) When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.
2 (UKJV) Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD has done great things for them.
3 (UKJV) "The LORD has done great things for us; whereof we are glad. "
4 (UKJV) Return our captivity, O LORD, as the streams in the south.
5 (UKJV) They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.
6 (UKJV) He that goes forth and weeps, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.

Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD has done great things for them.
Jób 8:21 - Till he fill your mouth with laughing, and your lips with rejoicing.
Z 126 - Žalm isto vznikol po návrate z babylonského zajatia. Dokazujú to úvodné slová žalmu: "Keď Pán privádzal späť sionských zajatcov." Tí, čo sa vrátili v prvom transporte (za Zorobábela, hneď po r. 538) zo zajatia, museli vo vlasti mnoho skusovať. Pomery vo vlasti nie sú najlepšie a väčšia čiastka národa je ešte v zajatí. Žalm vystihuje toto položenie izraelského národa a obsahom sa podobá žalmu 85, ktorý je tiež z časov návratu z babylonského zajatia.
Z 126,4 - "Zmeň, Pane, naše zajatie ako potoky na juhu" - južná čiastka Palestíny, Negeb, je z väčšej čiastky roka spálená, pustá, bez života. Ale razom oživne a zazelená sa bujným rastlinstvom, keď prídu jesenné dažde, ktoré všetko ovlažia, rozmočia pôdu a korytá vyschnutých riek naplnia vodou.
Z 126,6 - Hoci začiatky obnovy sú ťažké, s Božou pomocou sa obnova a výstavba naisto podarí.
