1 (HEM) שיר המעלות לדוד לולי יהוה שהיה לנו יאמר נא ישראל׃
1 (UKJV) "If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, now may Israel say; "

2 (HEM) לולי יהוה שהיה לנו בקום עלינו אדם׃
2 (UKJV) If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up against us:

3 (HEM) אזי חיים בלעונו בחרות אפם בנו׃
3 (UKJV) Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us:

4 (HEM) אזי המים שטפונו נחלה עבר על נפשנו׃
4 (UKJV) Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul:

5 (HEM) אזי עבר על נפשנו המים הזידונים׃
5 (UKJV) Then the proud waters had gone over our soul.

6 (HEM) ברוך יהוה שלא נתננו טרף לשניהם׃
6 (UKJV) Blessed be the LORD, who has not given us as a prey to their teeth.

7 (HEM) נפשנו כצפור נמלטה מפח יוקשים הפח נשבר ואנחנו נמלטנו׃
7 (UKJV) Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.

8 (HEM) עזרנו בשם יהוה עשה שמים וארץ׃
8 (UKJV) Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.
