Ž 121, 1-8

1 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence comes my help. 2 My help comes from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. 3 He will not suffer your foot to be moved: he that keeps you will not slumber. 4 Behold, he that keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. 5 The LORD is your keeper: the LORD is your shade upon your right hand. 6 The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. 7 The LORD shall preserve you from all evil: he shall preserve your soul. 8 The LORD shall preserve your going out and your coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

Z 121 - Nadpis je ten istý ako v žalme predchádzajúcom. Žalm vystihuje city tých, čo sa vybrali na cestu do Jeruzalema.

Z 121,1 - Izraeliti sa modlievali obrátení k svätyni. Pri modlitbe zdvíhali ruky. Keď išlo o vzdialenejších veriacich, tak sa obracali smerom k Júdskym horám, kde bol Jeruzalem.

Z 121,6 - "Za dňa ťa slnko nezraní" (porov. 2 Kr 4,19; Jdt 8,3), "ani mesiac za noci" - orientálci aj dnes pripisujú niektoré choroby vplyvu mesiaca; iní myslia na nočný chlad (porov. Gn 31,40).
