1 (KJV) Hear my prayer, O LORD, and let my cry come unto thee.
1 (B21) Modlitba ubožáka, když v zoufalství vylévá před Hospodinem své úzkosti.

2 (KJV) Hide not thy face from me in the day when I am in trouble; incline thine ear unto me: in the day when I call answer me speedily.
2 (B21) Naslouchej, Hospodine, mé modlitbě, můj křik o pomoc kéž k tobě pronikne!

3 (KJV) For my days are consumed like smoke, and my bones are burned as an hearth.
3 (B21) Svou tvář přede mnou neskrývej v den, kdy jsem ohrožen! Nakloň mi ucho své, v den, kdy volám tě, pospěš, vyslyš mě!

4 (KJV) My heart is smitten, and withered like grass; so that I forget to eat my bread.
4 (B21) Moje dny v dýmu ztrácí se, mé kosti planou jako pec.

5 (KJV) By reason of the voice of my groaning my bones cleave to my skin.
5 (B21) Mé zbité srdce jak tráva uvadlo, ani si nevzpomenu na jídlo!

6 (KJV) I am like a pelican of the wilderness: I am like an owl of the desert.
6 (B21) Od námahy mého kvílení jsem na kost vyhublý!

7 (KJV) I watch, and am as a sparrow alone upon the house top.
7 (B21) Pelikánu v poušti se podobám, jsem jako sýček v pustinách.

8 (KJV) Mine enemies reproach me all the day; and they that are mad against me are sworn against me.
8 (B21) Nemohu spát a jsem sám jak vrabec na střechách.

9 (KJV) For I have eaten ashes like bread, and mingled my drink with weeping,
9 (B21) Posměchu nepřátel jsem denně vydáván, za blázna mají mě, jsem pro ně nadávka!

10 (KJV) Because of thine indignation and thy wrath: for thou hast lifted me up, and cast me down.
10 (B21) Vždyť jako chleba popel polykám, do svého nápoje slzy přidávám!

11 (KJV) My days are like a shadow that declineth; and I am withered like grass.
11 (B21) To všechno pro tvůj hněv, pro tvé horlení - pozdvihl jsi mě, abys mě odmrštil!

12 (KJV) But thou, O LORD, shalt endure for ever; and thy remembrance unto all generations.
12 (B21) Mých dnů jak stínu ubývá, tak jako tráva uvadám.

13 (KJV) Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come.
13 (B21) Ty však, Hospodine, navěky zůstáváš, po všechna pokolení trvá tvá památka.

14 (KJV) For thy servants take pleasure in her stones, and favour the dust thereof.
14 (B21) Vstaneš, aby ses nad Sionem smiloval, vždyť už je čas mu přízeň prokázat, už přišel správný čas!

15 (KJV) So the heathen shall fear the name of the LORD, and all the kings of the earth thy glory.
15 (B21) Vždyť tvoji služebníci milují jeho kamení, nad jeho prachem jsou hnuti lítostí!

16 (KJV) When the LORD shall build up Zion, he shall appear in his glory.
16 (B21) Hospodinovo jméno národy ctít budou a všichni králové světa slávu tvou,

17 (KJV) He will regard the prayer of the destitute, and not despise their prayer.
17 (B21) až Hospodin znovu Sion zbuduje, až se ukáže ve slávě.

18 (KJV) This shall be written for the generation to come: and the people which shall be created shall praise the LORD.
18 (B21) Tehdy se obrátí k modlitbě trpícího, tehdy nepohrdne jejich modlitbou!

19 (KJV) For he hath looked down from the height of his sanctuary; from heaven did the LORD behold the earth;
19 (B21) Ať je to zapsáno pro příští pokolení, ať slaví Hospodina ti, kteří budou stvořeni,

20 (KJV) To hear the groaning of the prisoner; to loose those that are appointed to death;
20 (B21) že shlédl dolů ze svých svatých výšin, Hospodin z nebe že pohleděl na zemi,

21 (KJV) To declare the name of the LORD in Zion, and his praise in Jerusalem;
21 (B21) aby vyslyšel nářek uvězněných, odsouzené k smrti aby propustil!

22 (KJV) When the people are gathered together, and the kingdoms, to serve the LORD.
22 (B21) Jméno Hospodin bude na Sionu znít, Jeruzalém jeho chvála naplní,

23 (KJV) He weakened my strength in the way; he shortened my days.
23 (B21) národy a království až se shromáždí, aby Hospodinu sloužili!

24 (KJV) I said, O my God, take me not away in the midst of my days: thy years are throughout all generations.
24 (B21) Uprostřed cesty mi síly podlomil, můj život náhle ukrátil.

25 (KJV) Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands.
25 (B21) Řekl jsem: Bože můj, neber mě zprostřed života - po všechna pokolení trvají léta tvá!

26 (KJV) They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed:
26 (B21) Za pradávna jsi zemi založil, dílem tvých rukou jsou nebesa.

27 (KJV) But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end.
27 (B21) Ona pominou, ty budeš vždy, všechna se jako šaty obnosí. Odložíš je jak starý plášť a budou pryč.

28 (KJV) The children of thy servants shall continue, and their seed shall be established before thee.
28 (B21) Ty však jsi tentýž - tvá léta neskončí.

29 (B21) Děti tvých služebníků budou žít dál, jejich símě bude před tebou rozkvétat!
