Kniha Jób

1 (KJV) But Job answered and said,
1 (KAT) Jób odpovedal:

2 (KJV) Oh that my grief were throughly weighed, and my calamity laid in the balances together!
2 (KAT) „Bár by môj nárek presne odmeraný bol, s ním biedu moju bár, by zvážili!

3 (KJV) For now it would be heavier than the sand of the sea: therefore my words are swallowed up.
3 (KAT) Veru by ona morský piesok prevážila, nuž preto moje slová roztrpčené sú.

4 (KJV) For the arrows of the Almighty are within me, the poison whereof drinketh up my spirit: the terrors of God do set themselves in array against me.
4 (KAT) Veď vo mne šípy Všemocného (utkveli), že môj duch saje ich jed do seba a Božie hrôzy bojujú proti mne.

5 (KJV) Doth the wild ass bray when he hath grass? or loweth the ox over his fodder?
5 (KAT) Či híka osol, keď má pažiť pred sebou? A nad obrokom býk var’ zabučí?

6 (KJV) Can that which is unsavoury be eaten without salt? or is there any taste in the white of an egg?
6 (KAT) Čo chuti nemá, možno jesť bez soli? A bielko vajca má chuť nejakú?

7 (KJV) The things that my soul refused to touch are as my sorrowful meat.
7 (KAT) Tak sa moja duša nechce dotknúť toho a moje srdce si pokrm zhnusilo.

8 (KJV) Oh that I might have my request; and that God would grant me the thing that I long for!
8 (KAT) Bár by sa mi moja žiadosť splnila (raz) a čo dúfam, Pán mi dožičil!

9 (KJV) Even that it would please God to destroy me; that he would let loose his hand, and cut me off!
9 (KAT) Bár by sa Pánovi rozmliaždiť ma chcelo a rukou hybkou vyrvať z koreňov!

10 (KJV) Then should I yet have comfort; yea, I would harden myself in sorrow: let him not spare; for I have not concealed the words of the Holy One.
10 (KAT) Tak by mi radosť akási ostala a jasal bych aj v mukách ukrutných, že nezaprel som slová Svätého.

11 (KJV) What is my strength, that I should hope? and what is mine end, that I should prolong my life?
11 (KAT) Kde silu beriem, že schopný som vydržať? A načo ešte život držím si?

12 (KJV) Is my strength the strength of stones? or is my flesh of brass?
12 (KAT) Je moja sila akoby zo skaly a moje telo ako zo spieže?

13 (KJV) Is not my help in me? and is wisdom driven quite from me?
13 (KAT) Či niet pre mňa už nijakej záchrany a odňatá mi je každá opora?

14 (KJV) To him that is afflicted pity should be shewed from his friend; but he forsaketh the fear of the Almighty.
14 (KAT) Veď nešťastného musí priateľ ľutovať, hoci pred Všemocným bázeň potratil.

15 (KJV) My brethren have dealt deceitfully as a brook, and as the stream of brooks they pass away;
15 (KAT) Jak riava prudká, tak bratia sklamali ma, keď koryto jej vody opustia,

16 (KJV) Which are blackish by reason of the ice, and wherein the snow is hid:
16 (KAT) ktoré ľadmi skalené bývajú a snehy v sebe skryté mávajú,

17 (KJV) What time they wax warm, they vanish: when it is hot, they are consumed out of their place.
17 (KAT) lež v horúčavách zaraz opľasnejú a v čase pále stadiaľ tratia sa.

18 (KJV) The paths of their way are turned aside; they go to nothing, and perish.
18 (KAT) To pre ne cesty pomýlia si pocestní a púšťou blúdia, zhynú napokon.

19 (KJV) The troops of Tema looked, the companies of Sheba waited for them.
19 (KAT) Vyzerajú ich pocestní temanskí a tlupy sábske na ne čakajú.

20 (KJV) They were confounded because they had hoped; they came thither, and were ashamed.
20 (KAT) Jak zamrzí ich, že na ne spoľahli sa, že došli až k nim, sklamali sa však.

21 (KJV) For now ye are nothing; ye see my casting down, and are afraid.
21 (KAT) Aj vy ste teraz práve takí voči mne, ste preľaknutí, hrôzu cítite.

22 (KJV) Did I say, Bring unto me? or, Give a reward for me of your substance?
22 (KAT) Či vravel som vám: Dajte mi voľačo, darujte mi čosi z imania!?

23 (KJV) Or, Deliver me from the enemy's hand? or, Redeem me from the hand of the mighty?
23 (KAT) Alebo: Vysloboďte ma z rúk nepriateľa a vykúpte ma z moci zlostníka!?

24 (KJV) Teach me, and I will hold my tongue: and cause me to understand wherein I have erred.
24 (KAT) Poučte ma a ja budem mlčať. Ak som v niečom schybil, vysvetlite mi!

25 (KJV) How forcible are right words! but what doth your arguing reprove?
25 (KAT) Veď priame slová sú také pôsobivé, lež vaše hany čože dokážu?

26 (KJV) Do ye imagine to reprove words, and the speeches of one that is desperate, which are as wind?
26 (KAT) Či zamýšľate iba slová súdiť? Var’ vetru platia kriky zúfalca?

27 (KJV) Yea, ye overwhelm the fatherless, and ye dig a pit for your friend.
27 (KAT) Aj o sirotu by ste losovali a priateľa by ste predali.

28 (KJV) Now therefore be content, look upon me; for it is evident unto you if I lie.
28 (KAT) Nuž ráčte a obráťte sa teraz ku mne, nebudem vám luhať do očí.

29 (KJV) Return, I pray you, let it not be iniquity; yea, return again, my righteousness is in it.
29 (KAT) Len poďte sem a nech sa krivda nedeje! Len poďte, tu je ešte moja statočnosť!

30 (KJV) Is there iniquity in my tongue? cannot my taste discern perverse things?
30 (KAT) Či nepravda väzí na mojom jazyku? Či moje ďasno nerozlíši zlobu?
