Jób 38, 1-41

1 (KJV) Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said,
1 (HEM) ויען יהוה את איוב מן הסערה ויאמר׃
1 (KAT) Tu Boh prehovoril z lona búrky k Jóbovi:

2 (KJV) Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?
2 (HEM) מי זה מחשיך עצה במלין בלי דעת׃
2 (KAT) „Kto to prozreteľnosť zatemňuje zas a slovami, v ktorých vedy vôbec niet?!

3 (KJV) Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me.
3 (HEM) אזר נא כגבר חלציך ואשאלך והודיעני׃
3 (KAT) Slabiny si opáš ako hrdina, ja sa budem pýtať, ty ma poučíš.

4 (KJV) Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.
4 (HEM) איפה היית ביסדי ארץ הגד אם ידעת בינה׃
4 (KAT) Keď som zem zakladal, kde si vtedy bol, nože mi to povedz, akže pravdu znáš!

5 (KJV) Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it?
5 (HEM) מי שם ממדיה כי תדע או מי נטה עליה קו׃
5 (KAT) Vieš ty, kto jej vtedy určil rozmery, kto to obvinul ju sťaby povrázkom?

6 (KJV) Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof;
6 (HEM) על מה אדניה הטבעו או מי ירה אבן פנתה׃
6 (KAT) Do čoho jej stĺpy zapustené sú a kto položil jej kameň uholný,

7 (KJV) When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
7 (HEM) ברן יחד כוכבי בקר ויריעו כל בני אלהים׃
7 (KAT) keď si ranné hviezdy zborom spievali a Boží synovia všetci plesali?

8 (KJV) Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it brake forth, as if it had issued out of the womb?
8 (HEM) ויסך בדלתים ים בגיחו מרחם יצא׃
8 (KAT) Ktože bránami to more uzavrel, keď sa prúdom vzdulo, zo dna vyvrelo,

9 (KJV) When I made the cloud the garment thereof, and thick darkness a swaddlingband for it,
9 (HEM) בשומי ענן לבשו וערפל חתלתו׃
9 (KAT) keď som za odev mu oblak pridelil, ako plienky zasa mračno pošmúrne?

10 (KJV) And brake up for it my decreed place, and set bars and doors,
10 (HEM) ואשבר עליו חקי ואשים בריח ודלתים׃
10 (KAT) Potom som ho sputnal svojím zákonom, vložil som naň zámok, dvoje brány tiež.

11 (KJV) And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further: and here shall thy proud waves be stayed?
11 (HEM) ואמר עד פה תבוא ולא תסיף ופא ישית בגאון גליך׃
11 (KAT) Povedal som: »Potiaľ smieš, ďalej nie, tu sa už rozbije pýcha tvojich vĺn.«

12 (KJV) Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days; and caused the dayspring to know his place;
12 (HEM) המימיך צוית בקר ידעתה שחר מקמו׃
12 (KAT) Či za svojich dní si dal ránu rozkazy a zorničke si určil miesto jej,

13 (KJV) That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it?
13 (HEM) לאחז בכנפות הארץ וינערו רשעים ממנה׃
13 (KAT) aby zachytila zeme okraje, a tak hriešnici z nej boli zmetení?

14 (KJV) It is turned as clay to the seal; and they stand as a garment.
14 (HEM) תתהפך כחמר חותם ויתיצבו כמו לבוש׃
14 (KAT) Jak smola pečatná, tak sa premieňa, ona sa jak rúcho líči farbami.

15 (KJV) And from the wicked their light is withholden, and the high arm shall be broken.
15 (HEM) וימנע מרשעים אורם וזרוע רמה תשבר׃
15 (KAT) Hriešnikom ich svetla nedostane sa, napriahnuté rameno sa už doláme.

16 (KJV) Hast thou entered into the springs of the sea? or hast thou walked in the search of the depth?
16 (HEM) הבאת עד נבכי ים ובחקר תהום התהלכת׃
16 (KAT) Vari až ku žriedlam mora došiel si, na dne hlbočiny si sa prechádzal?

17 (KJV) Have the gates of death been opened unto thee? or hast thou seen the doors of the shadow of death?
17 (HEM) הנגלו לך שערי מות ושערי צלמות תראה׃
17 (KAT) Tebe brány smrti ukázali sa, alebo si videl brány temravy?

18 (KJV) Hast thou perceived the breadth of the earth? declare if thou knowest it all.
18 (HEM) התבננת עד רחבי ארץ הגד אם ידעת כלה׃
18 (KAT) Po šíravách zeme si sa rozhliadol? Ak ju celú poznáš, nože rozpovedz:

19 (KJV) Where is the way where light dwelleth? and as for darkness, where is the place thereof,
19 (HEM) אי זה הדרך ישכן אור וחשך אי זה מקמו׃
19 (KAT) Kadiaľ vedie cesta k svetla bydlisku, kde zas majú svoje miesto temnoty,

20 (KJV) That thou shouldest take it to the bound thereof, and that thou shouldest know the paths to the house thereof?
20 (HEM) כי תקחנו אל גבולו וכי תבין נתיבות ביתו׃
20 (KAT) aby si ich na ich panstvo zaviedol, akže poznáš chodník do ich domova?

21 (KJV) Knowest thou it, because thou wast then born? or because the number of thy days is great?
21 (HEM) ידעת כי אז תולד ומספר ימיך רבים׃
21 (KAT) S nimi si sa zrodil, už to iste vieš, veď preveľký je počet tvojich dní.

22 (KJV) Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow? or hast thou seen the treasures of the hail,
22 (HEM) הבאת אל אצרות שלג ואצרות ברד תראה׃
22 (KAT) K zásobárňam snehu vari zašiel si, ľadovca si uzrel zásobárne tiež,

23 (KJV) Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war?
23 (HEM) אשר חשכתי לעת צר ליום קרב ומלחמה׃
23 (KAT) ktoré uschoval som na deň pohromy, na deň veľkej bitky, vojny nemalej.

24 (KJV) By what way is the light parted, which scattereth the east wind upon the earth?
24 (HEM) אי זה הדרך יחלק אור יפץ קדים עלי ארץ׃
24 (KAT) Kdeže cesta je ta, hmly kde delia sa, po zemi sa šíri vietor východný?

25 (KJV) Who hath divided a watercourse for the overflowing of waters, or a way for the lightning of thunder;
25 (HEM) מי פלג לשטף תעלה ודרך לחזיז קלות׃
25 (KAT) Ktože to vykopal ručaj prívalu, ktože cestu tobôž bleskom hromovým,

26 (KJV) To cause it to rain on the earth, where no man is; on the wilderness, wherein there is no man;
26 (HEM) להמטיר על ארץ לא איש מדבר לא אדם בו׃
26 (KAT) nezaľudnenú zem dážď by zavlažil, tú púšť, na ktorej niet ani človeka,

27 (KJV) To satisfy the desolate and waste ground; and to cause the bud of the tender herb to spring forth?
27 (HEM) להשביע שאה ומשאה ולהצמיח מצא דשא׃
27 (KAT) by zem spustošenú, sirú zavodnil, by zo stepi znovu vzišla travina?

28 (KJV) Hath the rain a father? or who hath begotten the drops of dew?
28 (HEM) היש למטר אב או מי הוליד אגלי טל׃
28 (KAT) Kde dážď teda (svojho) otca má, alebo kto splodil rosy kvapôčky?

29 (KJV) Out of whose womb came the ice? and the hoary frost of heaven, who hath gendered it?
29 (HEM) מבטן מי יצא הקרח וכפר שמים מי ילדו׃
29 (KAT) Z čiehože lona to ľady vychodia, nebeská inovať, ktože splodil ju?

30 (KJV) The waters are hid as with a stone, and the face of the deep is frozen.
30 (HEM) כאבן מים יתחבאו ופני תהום יתלכדו׃
30 (KAT) Veď aj vody stvrdnú sťaby na kameň, takisto aj hĺbok stuhne hladina.

31 (KJV) Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion?
31 (HEM) התקשר מעדנות כימה או משכות כסיל תפתח׃
31 (KAT) Môžeš zakosíliť pásy Kuriatok, Orióna putá môžeš rozviazať?

32 (KJV) Canst thou bring forth Mazzaroth in his season? or canst thou guide Arcturus with his sons?
32 (HEM) התציא מזרות בעתו ועיש על בניה תנחם׃
32 (KAT) Dáš, by v svojom čase Veniec vychodil, Medveďa viesť budeš s jeho mladými?

33 (KJV) Knowest thou the ordinances of heaven? canst thou set the dominion thereof in the earth?
33 (HEM) הידעת חקות שמים אם תשים משטרו בארץ׃
33 (KAT) Vyznáš sa ty azda v nebies zákonoch, čo v nich napísané, spravíš na zemi?

34 (KJV) Canst thou lift up thy voice to the clouds, that abundance of waters may cover thee?
34 (HEM) התרים לעב קולך ושפעת מים תכסך׃
34 (KAT) Svoj hlas pozdvihneš var’ k samým oblakom, by ťa zaliali hneď vody prívaly?

35 (KJV) Canst thou send lightnings, that they may go, and say unto thee, Here we are?
35 (HEM) התשלח ברקים וילכו ויאמרו לך הננו׃
35 (KAT) Azda blesky hodíš, až sa rozbehnú, tebe odpovedia: »Aha, tu sme už!«

36 (KJV) Who hath put wisdom in the inward parts? or who hath given understanding to the heart?
36 (HEM) מי שת בטחות חכמה או מי נתן לשכוי בינה׃
36 (KAT) Ktože ibisovi múdrosť udelil, ktože kohútovi umnosť daroval?

37 (KJV) Who can number the clouds in wisdom? or who can stay the bottles of heaven,
37 (HEM) מי יספר שחקים בחכמה ונבלי שמים מי ישכיב׃
37 (KAT) Ktože môže mračná múdro spočítať, a kto môže nahnúť mechy nebeské,

38 (KJV) When the dust groweth into hardness, and the clods cleave fast together?
38 (HEM) בצקת עפר למוצק ורגבים ידבקו׃
38 (KAT) keď prach sa na hmotu tvrdú zlepuje, keď sa spájajú tiež hrudy navzájom?

39 (KJV) Wilt thou hunt the prey for the lion? or fill the appetite of the young lions,
39 (HEM) התצוד ללביא טרף וחית כפירים תמלא׃
39 (KAT) Hádam levici ty korisť nadháňaš, levíčat ty vari žravosť ukojíš,

40 (KJV) When they couch in their dens, and abide in the covert to lie in wait?
40 (HEM) כי ישחו במעונות ישבו בסכה למו ארב׃
40 (KAT) keď sa utúlili v svojich pelechoch, abo na postriežke ležia v húšťave?

41 (KJV) Who provideth for the raven his food? when his young ones cry unto God, they wander for lack of meat.
41 (HEM) מי יכין לערב צידו כי ילדו אל אל ישועו יתעו לבלי אכל׃
41 (KAT) Ktože krkavcovi pokrm prichystá, keď mláďatá jeho k Bohu volajú, nemajú čo žrať už, len tak trasú sa?

Knowest thou the ordinances of heaven? canst thou set the dominion thereof in the earth?

Jer 31:35 - Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The LORD of hosts is his name:

Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?

Jób 42:3 - Who is he that hideth counsel without knowledge? therefore have I uttered that I understood not; things too wonderful for me, which I knew not.

Wilt thou hunt the prey for the lion? or fill the appetite of the young lions,

Gn 1:9 - And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.

Jób 26:10 - He hath compassed the waters with bounds, until the day and night come to an end.

Ž 33:7 - He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the depth in storehouses.

Ž 104:9 - Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over; that they turn not again to cover the earth.

Prís 8:29 - When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth:

Jer 5:22 - Fear ye not me? saith the LORD: will ye not tremble at my presence, which have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it: and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it?

Verš 41

Who provideth for the raven his food? when his young ones cry unto God, they wander for lack of meat.

Ž 147:9 - He giveth to the beast his food, and to the young ravens which cry.

Mt 6:26 - Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

Verš 36

Who hath put wisdom in the inward parts? or who hath given understanding to the heart?

Jób 32:8 - But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding.

Kaz 2:26 - For God giveth to a man that is good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner he giveth travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to him that is good before God. This also is vanity and vexation of spirit.

Dan 1:17 - As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.

Verš 27

To satisfy the desolate and waste ground; and to cause the bud of the tender herb to spring forth?

Ž 107:35 - He turneth the wilderness into a standing water, and dry ground into watersprings.

Verš 31

Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion?

Jób 9:9 - Which maketh Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades, and the chambers of the south.

Am 5:8 - Seek him that maketh the seven stars and Orion, and turneth the shadow of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night: that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The LORD is his name:

Job 38,7 - Najobvyklejší obraz stvorenia sveta predstavuje Boha ako budovateľa domu (4–6). Keď budovateľ zapustil do budovy uholný kameň, konala sa za spevu slávnosť (porov. Zach 4,7). V Palestíne podnes sprevádzajú kladenie posledných kameňov do klenby striedavými piesňami (Hejčl, Biblie, č. III, 997). Pri zakončovaní budovania vesmíru spievali hviezdy a anjeli na slávu Bohu.

Job 38,14 - Nádheru farieb, ktorá sa zjaví pri rannej zore, porovnáva spisovateľ s červenou pečatnou hlinou. Zmeneným hláskovaním dostaneme však nový obraz, ktorý sa zdá priliehavejším na tomto mieste. Ide tu asi o porovnanie s červeným vínom (Prís 23,31), ktoré sa postupne čistí, ak je uzavreté, a postupne sa v ňom vyvíja utešená farba.

Job 38,21 - Ide o ironickú poznámku o krátkom veku ľudského života.

Job 38,23 - Možno, že verš naráža na Joz 10,11.

Job 38,36 - Zdôrazňuje poriadok, ktorým sa prejavujú sily prírody, akoby podľa rozvahy vyvíjajú svoju činnosť, na svoj čas určenú. Iní prekladajú: Ktože vložil do mrakov múdrosť a ktože požičal mračnám rozvahu? – Iní zasa miesto "mrakov" a "mračien" chcú čítať slová: utajenosť a zjavný dej. Preto prekladajú: Kto vložil do utajenosti múdrosť a kto požičal zjavnému dianiu rozvahu? – V pravidelnosti prírodných javov zračí sa múdrosť toho, kto prírode stanovil jej zákonitosť.
