Kniha Jób

1 (KJV) Elihu spake moreover, and said,
1 (KAT) A Elihu opäť vravel:

2 (KJV) Thinkest thou this to be right, that thou saidst, My righteousness is more than God's?
2 (KAT) „Veď či za správne si toto vari pokladal: »U Pána mám právo,« tak si hovoril.

3 (KJV) For thou saidst, What advantage will it be unto thee? and, What profit shall I have, if I be cleansed from my sin?
3 (KAT) Teraz zasa tvrdíš: »Čo je ťa do toho, čože ti tým robím, že hriech pášem ja?«

4 (KJV) I will answer thee, and thy companions with thee.
4 (KAT) Nuž tak, chcem dať teraz tebe hlavne odpoveď, zároveň však s tebou tvojim priateľom.

5 (KJV) Look unto the heavens, and see; and behold the clouds which are higher than thou.
5 (KAT) Na nebesá pozri, len sa dívaj (pozorne)! Hľaďže na oblaky: Vyššie než ty sú.

6 (KJV) If thou sinnest, what doest thou against him? or if thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto him?
6 (KAT) Keď hriech teda pášeš, čo urobíš jemu tým? Ak máš nemálo vín, čo mu spôsobíš?

7 (KJV) If thou be righteous, what givest thou him? or what receiveth he of thine hand?
7 (KAT) Ak si spravodlivý, čože mu tým daruješ alebo čo môže prijať z tvojej ruky?!

8 (KJV) Thy wickedness may hurt a man as thou art; and thy righteousness may profit the son of man.
8 (KAT) Tvoja bezbožnosť týka sa muža; jak si ty, tvoja spravodlivosť syna človeka.

9 (KJV) By reason of the multitude of oppressions they make the oppressed to cry: they cry out by reason of the arm of the mighty.
9 (KAT) Nariekajú oni pod útlakom velikým, kvília pod ramenom mocných vladárov.

10 (KJV) But none saith, Where is God my maker, who giveth songs in the night;
10 (KAT) Lenže nepomyslia: »Kde je Boh, čo stvoril nás, ten, čo dáva v noci piesňam hlaholiť,

11 (KJV) Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and maketh us wiser than the fowls of heaven?
11 (KAT) čo nás poučuje tvorstvom pozemským a čo nás vzdeláva vtáctvom nebeským?«

12 (KJV) There they cry, but none giveth answer, because of the pride of evil men.
12 (KAT) Bedákajú iba, nik im nedá odpoveď pred spurným pohľadom tamtých hriešnikov.

13 (KJV) Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it.
13 (KAT) Všetko to je márne, Boh ich nechce vypočuť, Všemohúci si to ani nevšimne.

14 (KJV) Although thou sayest thou shalt not see him, yet judgment is before him; therefore trust thou in him.
14 (KAT) Čo však, keď ty vravíš, že ho veru nevidíš, hoci s ním máš súd mať, na to čakáš len?

15 (KJV) But now, because it is not so, he hath visited in his anger; yet he knoweth it not in great extremity:
15 (KAT) Že hnev jeho teraz teda ešte netresce, že sa o priestupok zaraz nestará,

16 (KJV) Therefore doth Job open his mouth in vain; he multiplieth words without knowledge.
16 (KAT) Jób si už aj ústa naprázdno ver’ otvára, keďže vedu nemá, tára priveľa.“
