Kniha Jób

1 (KJV) Then Job answered and said,
1 (B21) Job na to řekl:

2 (KJV) Even to day is my complaint bitter: my stroke is heavier than my groaning.
2 (B21) "I dnes je má žaloba plná trpkosti, jeho ruka mě drtí i přes mé sténání.

3 (KJV) Oh that I knew where I might find him! that I might come even to his seat!
3 (B21) Kdybych jen věděl, kde se nachází, k jeho sídlu bych se vypravil.

4 (KJV) I would order my cause before him, and fill my mouth with arguments.
4 (B21) Před jeho tváří bych vyložil svou při, vznesl bych před ním svoje stížnosti.

5 (KJV) I would know the words which he would answer me, and understand what he would say unto me.
5 (B21) Dozvěděl bych se, co mi odpoví, co mi chce říci, bych pochopil.

6 (KJV) Will he plead against me with his great power? No; but he would put strength in me.
6 (B21) Bude se ve své veliké moci se mnou přít? Nikoli! On mě jistě vyslyší!

7 (KJV) There the righteous might dispute with him; so should I be delivered for ever from my judge.
7 (B21) Kdyby se s ním poctivý mohl přít, vyhrál bych svůj soud navždycky.

8 (KJV) Behold, I go forward, but he is not there; and backward, but I cannot perceive him:
8 (B21) Jdu-li však na východ, není tam, ani na západě ho nevnímám.

9 (KJV) On the left hand, where he doth work, but I cannot behold him: he hideth himself on the right hand, that I cannot see him:
9 (B21) Působí-li na severu, tam ho nevidím, míří-li k jihu, já ho nespatřím.

10 (KJV) But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.
10 (B21) Zato on zná mé cesty i mé zastávky; ukážu se jako zlato, až mě vyzkouší.

11 (KJV) My foot hath held his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined.
11 (B21) Má noha se přidržela jeho šlépějí, sledoval jsem jeho cestu, nesešel jsem z ní.

12 (KJV) Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.
12 (B21) Nevzdálil jsem se příkazům jeho rtů, v nitru jsem uchovával výroky jeho úst.

13 (KJV) But he is in one mind, and who can turn him? and what his soul desireth, even that he doeth.
13 (B21) On je však Jediný - kdo ho zadrží? Co se mu zachce, to učiní.

14 (KJV) For he performeth the thing that is appointed for me: and many such things are with him.
14 (B21) Co o mně rozhodne, to jistě vykoná, jak to prokázal už tolikrát.

15 (KJV) Therefore am I troubled at his presence: when I consider, I am afraid of him.
15 (B21) Proto jsem před ním vyděšen, když na něj myslím, hrozím se!

16 (KJV) For God maketh my heart soft, and the Almighty troubleth me:
16 (B21) Bůh už mé srdce ochromil, Všemohoucí mě vyděsil.

17 (KJV) Because I was not cut off before the darkness, neither hath he covered the darkness from my face.
17 (B21) Ještě jsem ale nezmlkl v temnotách, i když mi obličej přikryl mrak.
