Kniha Jób

1 (CPDV) Then Job answered by saying:
1 (ROH) A Job odpovedal a riekol:

2 (CPDV) Now again my conversation is in bitterness, and the force of my scourging weighs more heavily on me because of my mourning.
2 (ROH) Ešte i dnes bude moje úpenie spúrou! Môj údel strádania je ťažší nad moje vzdychanie.

3 (CPDV) Who will grant me that I might know and find him, and that I may approach even to his throne?
3 (ROH) Oj, aby som vedel, kde by som ho našiel! Išiel by som až pred jeho prestol.

4 (CPDV) I would place judgment before his eye, and my mouth would fill with criticism,
4 (ROH) Predložil by som pred neho súd a svoje ústa by som naplnil dôkazmi.

5 (CPDV) so that I may know the words that he will answer me and understand what he will say to me.
5 (ROH) Chcel by som zvedieť slová, ktorými by mi odpovedal, a porozumieť tomu, čo by mi riekol.

6 (CPDV) I do not want him to contend with me with much strength, nor to overwhelm me with the bulk of his greatness.
6 (ROH) Či by sa pravotil so mnou vo svojej veľkej sile? Nie to, ale by ma pozorne vypočul.

7 (CPDV) Let him show fairness in response to me, and let my judgment reach to victory.
7 (ROH) Tam by sa pravotil s ním priamy človek spravedlivý, a navždy by som uniknul svojmu sudcovi.

8 (CPDV) If I go to the east, he does not appear; if I go to the west, I will not understand him.
8 (ROH) Ale hľa, keď pojdem napred, neni ho, a keď nazad, nespozorujem ho.

9 (CPDV) If I turn to the left, what can I do? I will not take hold of him. If I turn myself to the right, I will not see him.
9 (ROH) naľavo, ak robí niečo, neuvidím ho; ak zahne napravo, neuzriem ho.

10 (CPDV) Truly, he knows my way and has tested me like gold that passes through fire.
10 (ROH) Lebo zná, jaká je cesta u mňa; keď ma bude zkúšať, vyjdem ako zlato.

11 (CPDV) My feet have been following his footsteps; I have kept to his way and have not strayed from it.
11 (ROH) Moja noha sa držala jeho kroku; ostríhal som jeho cestu a neodchýlil som sa

12 (CPDV) I have not withdrawn from the commands of his lips, and the words of his mouth I have hidden in my sinews.
12 (ROH) ani som neuhnul od prikázania jeho rtov; nad svoj stanovený diel pokrmu som schoval reči jeho úst.

13 (CPDV) For he is alone, and no one is able to disturb his intention; and whatever his spirit wills, that he accomplishes.
13 (ROH) Ale keď on trvá na jednom, ktože ho odvráti? A keď si zažiada niečo jeho duša, aj to učiní.

14 (CPDV) And when he fulfills his will in me, many other similar ones will also be present with him.
14 (ROH) A istotne vykoná i to, čo ustanovil o mne. A podobných vecí je mnoho pri ňom.

15 (CPDV) And, for this reason, I have been troubled at his presence, and, when I consider him, I am approached by fear.
15 (ROH) Preto sa desím jeho tvári, keď premýšľam o tom, strachujem sa pred ním.

16 (CPDV) God has weakened my heart, and the Almighty has confused me.
16 (ROH) A silný Bôh zmalátnil moje srdce, a Všemohúci ma predesil.

17 (CPDV) Yet I have not perished because of the threatening darkness, nor has gloom covered my face.
17 (ROH) Oj, že nie som zničený od tmy! A bol by tak ukryl predo mnou mrákotu.
