1 (VUL) Respondens autem Eliphaz Themanites dixit:
1 (UKJV) Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said,

2 (KAT) „Vari je človek na osoh Bohu?! Osoží len sebe, kto má rozum.
2 (VUL) “ Numquid Deo prodesse potest homo, cum vix intellegens sibi ipse proderit?
2 (UKJV) Can a man be profitable unto God, as he that is wise may be profitable unto himself?

3 (KAT) Má Všemohúci radosť, že si statočný, a zisk z toho, že si lepšíš svoje cesty?
3 (VUL) Quid prodest Omnipotenti, si iustus fueris, aut quid ei confers, si immaculatam feceris viam tuam?
3 (UKJV) Is it any pleasure to the Almighty, that you are righteous? or is it gain to him, that you make your ways perfect?

4 (KAT) Azda tresce ťa pre tvoju bohabojnosť, dáva sa preto s tebou do sporu?
4 (VUL) Numquid pro tua pietate arguet te et veniet tecum in iudicium?
4 (UKJV) Will he reprove you for fear of you? will he enter with you into judgment?

5 (KAT) Či nie preto je veľká tvoja zloba, že sú tvoje viny bez hraníc?!
5 (VUL) Et non propter malitiam tuam plurimam et infinitas iniquitates tuas?
5 (UKJV) Is not your wickedness great? and your iniquities infinite?

6 (KAT) Od bratov si bezdôvodne brával záloh, z nahých taktiež odev si strhával.
6 (VUL) Sumpsisti enim pignori fratres tuos sine causa et nudos spoliasti vestibus.
6 (UKJV) For you have taken a pledge from your brother for nothing, and stripped the naked of their clothing.

7 (KAT) Ani žíznivým si nedal vody, odoprel si lačným (skyvu) chleba.
7 (VUL) Aquam lasso non dedisti et esurienti cohibuisti panem.
7 (UKJV) You have not given water to the weary to drink, and you have withheld bread from the hungry.

8 (KAT) Veď zem patrí mužovi, čo päsť má mocnú, obľúbenec môže sídliť na nej!
8 (VUL) Numquid viro forti brachio erit terra, et acceptus sedebit in ea?
8 (UKJV) "But as for the mighty man, he had the earth; and the honourable man dwelt in it. "

9 (KAT) Vdovy si prepúšťal s prázdnou dlaňou a sirotám si lámal ramená.
9 (VUL) Viduas dimisisti vacuas et lacertos pupillorum comminuisti.
9 (UKJV) You have sent widows away empty, and the arms of the fatherless have been broken.

10 (KAT) Nuž hľa, prečo osídla sú vôkol teba prečo ťa des zachvacuje náhly!
10 (VUL) Propterea circumdatus es laqueis, et conturbat te subita formido.
10 (UKJV) "Therefore snares are round about you, and sudden fear troubles you; "

11 (KAT) Svetlo sa ti stmilo, nevidíš už a príval vôd ťa zakrýva.
11 (VUL) Vel tenebras non vides, et impetus aquarum opprimit te.
11 (UKJV) "Or darkness, that you can not see; and abundance of waters cover you. "

12 (KAT) Na výsostiach nebies vari nieto Boha? Hlavu hviezd si pozri! Vysoko sú.
12 (VUL) “Nonne Deus excelsior caelo? Et inspice stellarum verticem: quam sublimis!”.
12 (UKJV) Is not God in the height of heaven? and behold the height of the stars, how high they are!

13 (KAT) Ty si však povedal: »Čože Boh vie?! Azda spoza mračien môže súdiť?
13 (VUL) Et dicis: “Quid enim novit Deus et quasi per caliginem iudicat?
13 (UKJV) And you say, How does God know? can he judge through the dark cloud?

14 (KAT) Oblaky mu clonia, nevidí nič, po obvode nebies sa prechádza.«
14 (VUL) Nubes latibulum eius, nec nostra considerat; et circa orbem caeli perambulat”.
14 (UKJV) "Thick clouds are a covering to him, that he sees not; and he walks in the circuit of heaven. "

15 (KAT) Chceš sledovať chodník dávnoveku, po ktorom si išli ľudia zloby?
15 (VUL) Numquid semitam saeculorum custodire cupis, quam calcaverunt viri iniqui?
15 (UKJV) Have you marked the old way which wicked men have trodden?

16 (KAT) Tí, čo boli vyrvaní pred svojím časom, keď ich základ zaliali im vody,
16 (VUL) Qui sublati ante tempus suum, et fluvius subvertit fundamentum eorum.
16 (UKJV) Which were cut down out of time, whose foundation was overflowed with a flood:

17 (KAT) čo kričali Bohu: »Odíď od nás! Čo nám môže Všemohúci spraviť?«
17 (VUL) Qui dicebant Deo: “Recede a nobis!” et “Quid faciet Omnipotens nobis?”.
17 (UKJV) Which said unto God, Depart from us: and what can the Almighty do for them?

18 (KAT) A to on im plnil domy blahom, hoci sú mu ďaleké cesty zlých.
18 (VUL) Cum ille implesset domos eorum bonis, quorum sententia procul erat ab eo.
18 (UKJV) Yet he filled their houses with good things: but the counsel of the wicked is far from me.

19 (KAT) Spravodliví vidia to a radujú sa, môže sa im vysmiať nevinný:
19 (VUL) Videbunt iusti et laetabuntur, et innocens subsannabit eos:
19 (UKJV) The righteous see it, and are glad: and the innocent laugh them to scorn.

20 (KAT) »Nevyšiel im majetok na skazu už a zvyšky po nich nepohltal oheň?«
20 (VUL) “Vere succisus est status eorum, et reliquias eorum devoravit ignis”.
20 (UKJV) Whereas our substance is not cut down, but the remnant of them the fire consumes.

21 (KAT) Daj sa do priateľstva, pomer sa s ním, len tak prospejú ti tvoje zisky.
21 (VUL) Acquiesce igitur ei, et habeto pacem; et per haec habebis fructus optimos.
21 (UKJV) Acquaint now yourself with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto you.

22 (KAT) Prijmi ponaučenia z úst jeho, jeho slová si vlož do srdca!
22 (VUL) Suscipe ex ore illius legem et pone sermones eius in corde tuo.
22 (UKJV) Receive, I pray you, the law from his mouth, and lay up his words in your heart.

23 (KAT) Ak sa vrátiš k Všemocnému a pokoríš sa, vzdiališ prevrátenosť zo svojho stanu,
23 (VUL) Si reversus fueris ad Omnipotentem, aedificaberis et longe facies iniquitatem a tabernaculo tuo.
23 (UKJV) If you return to the Almighty, you shall be built up, you shall put away iniquity far from your tabernacles.

24 (KAT) hrudu zlata ako prach si ceniť budeš, z bystrín ofírských jak skálie dajaké,
24 (VUL) Comparabis tamquam terram aurum et tamquam glaream torrentis Ophir.
24 (UKJV) Then shall you lay up gold as dust, and the gold of Ophir as the stones of the brooks.

25 (KAT) lebo Všemocný ti bude hrudou zlata, stane sa ti kopcom zo striebra.
25 (VUL) Eritque Omnipotens metallum tuum, et argentum coacervabitur tibi.
25 (UKJV) Yea, the Almighty shall be your defence, and you shall have plenty of silver.

26 (KAT) Hneď sa budeš kochať vo Všemocnom, k Bohu pozdvihneš svoj obličaj;
26 (VUL) Tunc super Omnipotentem deliciis afflues et elevabis ad Deum faciem tuam.
26 (UKJV) For then shall you have your delight in the Almighty, and shall lift up your face unto God.

27 (KAT) budeš ho vzývať a vyslyší ťa a ty splníš jemu svoje sľuby.
27 (VUL) Supplex rogabis eum, et exaudiet te, et vota tua reddes.
27 (UKJV) You shall make your prayer unto him, and he shall hear you, and you shall pay your vows.

28 (KAT) Hocčo si umieniš, zdarí sa ti, na cestách ti bude žiariť svetlo.
28 (VUL) Decernes rem, et veniet tibi, et in viis tuis splendebit lumen.
28 (UKJV) You shall also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto you: and the light shall shine upon your ways.

29 (KAT) Bo pyšného nafúkanca ponižuje, kto však oči klopí, toho spasí on.
29 (VUL) Quia humiliat eum, qui loquitur superba, et demissus oculis ipse salvabitur.
29 (UKJV) "When men are cast down, then you shall say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person. "

30 (KAT) Zachraňuje nevinného človeka; pre čisté ruky sa zachráni.“
30 (VUL) Eripiet innocentem, eripietur autem in munditia manuum suarum ”.
30 (UKJV) He shall deliver the island of the innocent: and it is delivered by the pureness of your hands.
