Kniha Jób

1 (KAT) V krajine Hus žil istý muž, menom Jób. Bol to muž dokonalý a statočný, bál sa Pána a chránil sa zlého.
1 (VUL) Vir erat in terra Us nomine Iob, et erat vir ille simplex et rectus ac timens Deum et recedens a malo.
1 (UKJV) "There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil. "

2 (KAT) (Narodilo sa mu sedem synov a tri dcéry.)
2 (VUL) Natique sunt ei septem filii et tres filiae.
2 (UKJV) And there were born unto him seven sons and three daughters.

3 (KAT) V jeho stádach bolo sedemtisíc oviec, tritisíc tiav, päťsto záprahov rožného statku a päťsto oslíc. Aj čeľade mal veľmi mnoho. Bol to muž, ktorý vynikal nad všetkých synov Východu.
3 (VUL) Et fuit possessio eius septem milia ovium et tria milia camelorum, quingenta quoque iuga boum et quingentae asinae ac familia multa nimis; eratque vir ille magnus inter omnes Orientales.
3 (UKJV) "His substance also was seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred she asses, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the east. "

4 (KAT) Jeho synovia často robili hostiny, každý v určitý deň vo svojom dome, a pozývali aj svoje tri sestry, aby s nimi jedli a pili.
4 (VUL) Et ibant filii eius et faciebant convivium per domos unusquisque in die suo; et mittentes vocabant tres sorores suas, ut comederent et biberent cum eis.
4 (UKJV) "And his sons went and feasted in their houses, every one his day; and sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them. "

5 (KAT) No len čo uplynuli dni hodov, Jób si ich dal zavolať a obradne ich očisťoval. Vstal včasráno a podľa ich celkového počtu prinášal zápalné obety. Lebo Jób hovorieval: „Možno, že moji synovia zhrešili. Možno, že vo svojom srdci urazili Boha.“ A tak to Jób robil neprestajne.
5 (VUL) Cumque in orbem transissent dies convivii, mittebat ad eos Iob et sanctificabat illos; consurgensque diluculo offerebat holocausta pro singulis. Dicebat enim: “ Ne forte peccaverint filii mei et benedixerint Deo in cordibus suis ”. Sic faciebat Iob cunctis diebus.
5 (UKJV) And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually.

6 (KAT) Tu v ktorýsi deň prišli Boží synovia a postavili sa pred Pána. S nimi prišiel aj satan.
6 (VUL) Quadam autem die, cum venissent filii Dei, ut assisterent coram Domino, affuit inter eos etiam Satan.
6 (UKJV) Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.

7 (KAT) Pán povedal satanovi: „Skadiaľ prichádzaš?“ Satan odpovedal: „Chodil som krížom-krážom po zemi.“
7 (VUL) Cui dixit Dominus: “ Unde venis? ”. Qui respondens ait: “ Circuivi terram et perambulavi eam ”.
7 (UKJV) And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence come you? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going back and forth in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.

8 (KAT) Pán povedal satanovi: „A všimol si si môjho služobníka Jóba? Niet mu rovného na zemi. Je to muž dokonalý a statočný, bojí sa Boha a chráni sa zlého.“
8 (VUL) Dixitque Dominus ad eum: “ Numquid considerasti servum meum Iob, quod non sit ei similis in terra, homo simplex et rectus ac timens Deum et recedens a malo? ”.
8 (UKJV) And the LORD said unto Satan, Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that fears God, and turns away from evil?

9 (KAT) Satan odpovedal Pánovi: „Vari sa Jób zadarmo bojí Boha?!
9 (VUL) Cui respondens Satan ait: “ Numquid Iob frustra timet Deum?
9 (UKJV) Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Does Job fear God for nothing?

10 (KAT) A neurobil si ty sám akoby ohradu okolo neho, okolo jeho domu a okolo všetkého jeho imania?! Požehnávaš prácu jeho rúk a jeho čriedy zaplavili šíry kraj.
10 (VUL) Nonne tu vallasti eum ac domum eius universamque substantiam per circuitum, operibus manuum eius benedixisti, et possessio eius crevit in terra?
10 (UKJV) Have not you made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he has on every side? you have blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.

11 (KAT) Ale vztiahni ruku a zasiahni všetko jeho imanie, či ti nebude kliať do očí!“
11 (VUL) Sed extende paululum manum tuam et tange cuncta, quae possidet, nisi in faciem benedixerit tibi ”.
11 (UKJV) But put forth your hand now, and touch all that he has, and he will curse you to your face.

12 (KAT) Tu Pán povedal satanovi: „Hľa, všetko, čo má, je v tvojich rukách, iba jeho samého sa nedotkni!“ A satan sa vzdialil spred Pánovej tváre.
12 (VUL) Dixit ergo Dominus ad Satan: “ Ecce, universa, quae habet, in manu tua sunt; tantum in eum ne extendas manum tuam ”. Egressusque est Satan a facie Domini.

13 (KAT) Tak v ktorýsi deň jeho synovia a dcéry jedli a pili víno v dome svojho prvorodeného brata.
13 (VUL) Cum autem quadam die filii et filiae eius comederent et biberent vinum in domo fratris sui primogeniti,
13 (UKJV) And there was a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house:

14 (KAT) Tu prišiel k Jóbovi posol a zvestoval: „Kým so záprahmi orali a oslice sa pásli vedľa, vpadli Sabejci, ulúpili ich a paholkov pobili ostrím meča.
14 (VUL) nuntius venit ad Iob, qui diceret: “ Boves arabant, et asinae pascebantur iuxta eos;
14 (UKJV) And there came a messenger unto Job, and said, The oxen were plowing, and the asses feeding beside them:

15 (KAT) Ja jediný som unikol, aby som ti to oznámil.“
15 (VUL) et irruerunt Sabaei tuleruntque eos et pueros percusserunt gladio, et evasi ego solus, ut nuntiarem tibi ”.

16 (KAT) On ešte hovoril a už prichádzal iný a zvestoval: „Pánov oheň padol z neba, spálil ovce i valachov a pohltil ich. Ja jediný som unikol, aby som ti to oznámil.“
16 (VUL) Cumque adhuc ille loqueretur, venit alter et dixit: “ Ignis Dei cecidit e caelo et ussit oves puerosque consumpsit, et effugi ego solus, ut nuntiarem tibi ”.
16 (UKJV) "While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The fire of God is fallen from heaven, and has burned up the sheep, and the servants, and consumed them; and I only am escaped alone to tell you. "

17 (KAT) Aj on ešte hovoril a už prichádzal iný a zvestoval: „Chaldejci sa prihrnuli v troch tlupách, prepadli ťavy, ulúpili ich a pastierov pobili ostrím meča. Ja jediný som unikol, aby som ti to oznámil.“
17 (VUL) Sed et illo adhuc loquente, venit alius et dixit: “ Chaldaei fecerunt tres turmas et invaserunt camelos et tulerunt eos necnon et pueros percusserunt gladio, et ego fugi solus, ut nuntiarem tibi ”.
17 (UKJV) "While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The Chaldeans made out three bands, and fell upon the camels, and have carried them away, yea, and slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell you. "

18 (KAT) Ani on ešte nedopovedal a už prichádzal iný a zvestoval: „Tvoji synovia a dcéry jedli a pili víno v dome svojho najstaršieho brata.
18 (VUL) Adhuc loquebatur ille, et ecce alius intravit et dixit: “ Filiis tuis et filiabus vescentibus et bibentibus vinum in domo fratris sui primogeniti,
18 (UKJV) While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, Your sons and your daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house:

19 (KAT) A hľa, od púšte sa strhla veľká víchrica, oprela sa o štyri uhly domu, takže sa zrútil na deti a zahynuli. Ja jediný som unikol, aby som ti to oznámil.“
19 (VUL) repente ventus vehemens irruit a regione deserti et concussit quattuor angulos domus; quae corruens oppressit liberos tuos, et mortui sunt, et effugi ego solus, ut nuntiarem tibi ”.
19 (UKJV) "And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and stroke the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I only am escaped alone to tell you. "

20 (KAT) Tu Jób vstal, roztrhol si odev, oholil si hlavu, padol na zem, klaňal sa
20 (VUL) Tunc surrexit Iob et scidit vestimenta sua et, tonso capite, corruens in terram adoravit
20 (UKJV) Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped,

21 (KAT) a povedal: „Nahý som vyšiel z lona svojej matky a nahý sa ta vrátim. Pán dal, Pán vzal, nech je Pánovo meno zvelebené!“
21 (VUL) et dixit: “ Nudus egressus sum de utero matris meae et nudus revertar illuc. Dominus dedit, Dominus abstulit; sicut Domino placuit, ita factum est: sit nomen Domini benedictum ”.
21 (UKJV) "And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD. "

22 (KAT) V tomto všetkom Jób nezhrešil a nevyriekol proti Bohu nič neprístojné.
22 (VUL) In omnibus his non peccavit Iob labiis suis neque stultum quid contra Deum locutus est.
22 (UKJV) In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.
