1 (CPDV) And Solomon resolved to build a house to the name of the Lord, and a palace for himself.
1 (KAT) Šalamún odpočítal sedemdesiattisíc mužov na nosenie bremien a osemdesiattisíc kamenárov vo vrchoch a k nim tritisícšesťsto dozorcov.
2 (CPDV) And he numbered seventy thousand men to carry upon shoulders, and eighty thousand who were hewing stones in the mountains, and three thousand six hundred as their overseers.
2 (KAT) A Šalamún poslal týrskemu kráľovi Hiramovi odkaz: „Ako si urobil môjmu otcovi Dávidovi, keď si mu poslal cédre, aby si postavil obytný dom, (tak urob aj mne)!
3 (CPDV) Also, he sent to Hiram, the king of Tyre, saying: “Just as you did for my father David, when you sent him cedar wood, so that he might build a house for himself, in which he then lived,
3 (KAT) Hľa, ja chcem postaviť dom menu Pána, svojho Boha, a zasvätiť mu ho, páliť pred ním tymian ako voňavú obetu, ustavične predkladať chleby, prinášať celopaly ráno i večer, po sobotách, novmesiacoch a sviatkoch Pána, nášho Boha; to je večná povinnosť Izraela.
4 (CPDV) do so also for me, so that I may build a house to the name of the Lord my God, so that I may consecrate it for the burning of incense before him, and for the smoke of aromatics, and for the perpetual bread of the presence, and for the holocausts, in morning and in evening, as well as on the Sabbaths and new moons and solemnities of the Lord our God forever, which have been commanded to Israel.
4 (KAT) Dom, ktorý chcem postaviť, má byť veľký, lebo náš Boh je väčší ako všetci bohovia.
5 (CPDV) For the house that I desire to build is great. For our God is great, above all gods.
5 (KAT) Kto mu teda môže postaviť dom? Veď nebesá a nebesá nebies ho nemôžu obsiahnuť! A ktože som ja, aby som mu postavil dom, ak nie len na to, aby sa pred ním pálil tymian?
6 (CPDV) So then, who will be able prevail, so that he may build a worthy house for him? If heaven and the heavens of heavens cannot contain him, what am I that I would be able to build a house to him? But let it be for this only, so that incense may be burned before him.
6 (KAT) Teraz mi teda k tým umelcom, ktorí sú u mňa v Júdsku a Jeruzaleme, ktorých zaobstaral môj otec Dávid, pošli umelca, ktorý vie robiť veci zo zlata, zo striebra, z kovu, zo železa, z purpuru, z karmazínu a zo šarlátu a ktorý sa rozumie rezbárstvu.
7 (CPDV) Therefore, send to me a learned man, who knows how to work with gold and silver, with brass and iron, with purple, scarlet, and hyacinth, and who knows how to carve engravings, along with these artisans that I have with me in Judea and Jerusalem, whom my father David has prepared.
7 (KAT) Pošli mi tiež cédrové, jedľové a ebenové (?) drevo z Libanonu, veď ja viem, že tvoji sluhovia vedia stínať libanonské stromy. Moji sluhovia budú s tvojimi sluhami,
8 (CPDV) Then too, send to me cedar wood, and juniper, and pine from Lebanon. For I know that your servants know how to cut timber from Lebanon, and my servants will be with your servants,
8 (KAT) aby mi pripravili veľa dreva, lebo dom, ktorý chcem postaviť bude veľký a mimoriadny.
9 (CPDV) so that very much wood may be prepared for me. For the house that I desire to build is exceedingly great and glorious.
9 (KAT) A pozri, tvojim služobníkom rubačom, ktorí budú stínať stromy, dám na stravu dvadsaťtisíc korov pšenice, dvadsaťtisíc korov jačmeňa, dvadsaťtisíc batov vína a dvadsaťtisíc batov oleja!“
10 (CPDV) In addition, I will give to your servants, the workers who will cut down the trees, for provisions: twenty thousand cor of wheat, and the same number of cor of barley, and twenty thousand measures of wine, as well as twenty thousand good measures of oil.”
10 (KAT) Hiram, kráľ Týru, odpovedal listom, ktorý poslal Šalamúnovi: „Pretože Pán miluje svoj ľud, teba ustanovil nad ním za kráľa.“
11 (CPDV) Then Hiram, the king of Tyre, said, by a letter that had been sent to Solomon: “Because the Lord loved his people, for this reason he appointed you to reign over them.”
11 (KAT) Ďalej hovoril Hiram: „Nech je zvelebený Pán, Boh Izraela, ktorý urobil nebesá i zem, lebo dal kráľovi Dávidovi múdreho, vtipného, chápavého a rozumného syna, ktorý postaví dom Pánovi a dom kráľovský.
12 (CPDV) And he added, saying: “Blessed is the Lord, the God of Israel, who made heaven and earth, who gave to king David a son who is wise, and learned, and intelligent as well as prudent, so that he may build a house to the Lord, and a palace for himself.
12 (KAT) Teraz ti teda posielam múdreho, vtipného a rozumného muža, (svojho otca) Hirama.
13 (CPDV) Therefore, I have sent my father Hiram to you; he is a prudent and very knowledgeable man,
13 (KAT) Je to syn ženy z Danových dcér, otec mu bol Týrčan. Vie robiť veci zo zlata, zo striebra, z kovu, zo železa, z kameňov, z dreva, z purpuru, zo šarlátu, z plátna, z karmazínu, rozumie sa rezbárstvu a vie vymyslieť všetko, čo sa mu predloží, spolu s tvojimi umelcami a s umelcami môjho pána, tvojho otca Dávida.
14 (CPDV) the son of a woman from the daughters of Dan, whose father was a Tyrian, who knows how to work with gold and silver, with brass and iron, and with marble and timber, as well as with purple, and hyacinth, and fine linen, and scarlet. And he knows how to carve every kind of engraving, and how to devise prudently whatever may be necessary to the work, with your artisans and with the artisans of my lord David, your father.
14 (KAT) No a pšenicu, jačmeň, olej a víno, o ktorom hovoril môj pán, nech pošle svojim sluhom!
15 (CPDV) Therefore, send the wheat and barley and oil and wine, which you, my lord, have promised, to your own servants.
15 (KAT) My ti narúbeme dreva z Libanonu, koľko len budeš chcieť, na pltiach ti ho priplavíme po mori do Joppe a ty si ho dopravíš do Jeruzalema.“
16 (CPDV) Then we will cut down as much wood from Lebanon as you will need, and we will convey them as rafts by sea to Joppa. Then it will be for you to transfer them to Jerusalem.”
16 (KAT) Potom Šalamún spočítal všetkých cudzích mužov, ktorí boli v izraelskej krajine, podľa sčítania, ktoré previedol jeho otec Dávid, a zistilo sa, že ich je stopäťdesiattritisícšesťsto.
17 (CPDV) And so Solomon numbered all the new converts who were in the land of Israel, after the numbering that David his father had done, and they were found to be one hundred fifty thousand and 238 three thousand six hundred.
17 (KAT) Sedemdesiattisíc z nich urobil nosičmi bremien, osemdesiattisíc kamenármi vo vrchoch a tritisícšesťsto dozorcami, aby ľud pracoval.
18 (CPDV) And he appointed seventy thousand of them, who would carry burdens on shoulders, and eighty thousand who would hew stones in the mountains, then three thousand and six hundred as overseers of the work of the people.

So then, who will be able prevail, so that he may build a worthy house for him? If heaven and the heavens of heavens cannot contain him, what am I that I would be able to build a house to him? But let it be for this only, so that incense may be burned before him.
1Kr 8:27 - Is it, then, to be understood that truly God would dwell upon the earth? For if heaven, and the heavens of heavens, are not able to contain you, how much less this house, which I have built?
2Krn 6:18 - How then is it to be believe that God would dwell with men upon the earth? If heaven and the heavens of the heavens do not contain you, how much less this house that I have built?
Jób 11:7 - By chance, will you comprehend the footsteps of God and reach all the way to the perfection of the Almighty?

1Krn 22:2 - And he instructed them to gather all the new converts from the land of Israel. And from these he appointed stoneworkers, to hew stones and to polish them, so that he might build the house of God.
2Krn 2,2 - Slová v zátvorke, ktoré v dnešnej hebrejskej osnove chýbajú, sme doplnili z Vulgáty.
2Krn 2,12 - Porov. 1 Kr 7,13 n. – Tento Hiram nebol otec kráľa Hirama. Ľudia niekedy i svojich poradcov a majstrov volali otcom. Pravdepodobne je však slovo: "svojho otca" neskorší dodatok. – Niektorí sa domnievajú, že sa tento majster volal Huramabi, čo Vulg prekladá: "Hirama, môjho otca".
