1 (KAT) V osemnástom roku kráľa Jeroboama sa Abiáš stal kráľom nad Júdom.
1 (VUL) Anno octavo decimo regis Ieroboam regnavit Abia su per Iudam.
1 (UKJV) Now in the eighteenth year of king Jeroboam began Abijah to reign over Judah.

2 (KAT) Tri roky kraľoval v Jeruzaleme. Meno jeho matky bolo Michaja, dcéra Uriela z Gabay. Medzi Abiášom a Jeroboamom bola vojna.

3 (KAT) Abiáš začal vojnu so štyristotisícovou armádou hrdinských bojovníkov, vyberaných chlapov, Jeroboam však viedol proti nemu do boja osemstotisíc vyberaných mužov, udatných hrdinov.
3 (VUL) Cumque inisset Abia certamen et haberet bellicosissimos viros electorum quadringenta milia, Ieroboam instruxit e contra aciem octingenta milia virorum, qui et ipsi electi erant et ad bella fortissimi.

4 (KAT) Abiáš sa postavil na vrchu Semeron, ktorý bol v Efraimskom pohorí, a hovoril: „Čujte ma, Jeroboam a celý Izrael:
4 (VUL) Stetit igitur Abia super montem Semaraim, qui est in monte Ephraim, et ait: “ Audi, Ieroboam et omnis Israel:
4 (UKJV) "And Abijah stood up upon mount Zemaraim, which is in mount Ephraim, and said, Hear me, you Jeroboam, and all Israel; "

5 (KAT) Vy neviete, že Pán, Boh Izraela, dal naveky kráľovstvo nad Izraelom Dávidovi; jemu a jeho synom zmluvou soli?!
5 (VUL) Num ignoratis quod Dominus, Deus Israel, dederit regnum David super Israel in sempiternum, ipsi et filiis eius, pactum salis?
5 (UKJV) Ought all of you not to know that the LORD God of Israel gave the kingdom over Israel to David for ever, even to him and to his sons by a covenant of salt?

6 (VUL) Et surrexit Ieroboam filius Nabat servus Salomonis filii David et rebellavit contra dominum suum;

7 (KAT) Zoskupili sa okolo neho daromní ľudia, naničhodníci a prevládli Šalamúnovho syna Roboama, lebo Roboam bol mladý a malomyseľný a nevládal ich zdolať.
7 (VUL) congregatique sunt ad eum viri vanissimi, filii Belial, et praevaluerunt contra Roboam filium Salomonis. Porro Roboam erat iuvenis et corde pavido nec potuit resistere eis.
7 (UKJV) And there are gathered unto him vain men, the children of Belial, and have strengthened themselves against Rehoboam the son of Solomon, when Rehoboam was young and tenderhearted, and could not withstand them.

8 (KAT) A teraz sa nazdávate, že premôžete Pánovo kráľovstvo, (ktoré je) v rukách Dávidových synov, lebo vás je veľké množstvo a máte zlaté teľce, ktoré vám Jeroboam spravil za bohov.
8 (VUL) Nunc ergo vos dicitis quod resistere possitis regno Domini, quod possidet per filios David, habetisque grandem populi multitudinem atque vitulos aureos, quos fecit vobis Ieroboam in deos.
8 (UKJV) "And now all of you think to withstand the kingdom of the LORD in the hand of the sons of David; and all of you be a great multitude, and there are with your golden calves, which Jeroboam made you for gods. "

9 (KAT) Vyhnali ste Pánových kňazov, Áronových synov a levitov, a narobili ste si kňazov ako národy krajín. Každý, kto príde s býčkom, teliatkom a siedmimi baranmi, aby si naplnil ruky, stáva sa kňazom nebohov.

"

16 (UKJV) And the children of Israel fled before Judah: and God delivered them into their hand.

17 (KAT) Abiáš a jeho ľud im zapríčinil veľkú porážku, takže z Izraela padlo prebodnutých päťstotisíc vybraných mužov.
17 (VUL) Percussit ergo eos Abia et populus eius plaga magna; et corruerunt vulnerati ex Israel quingenta milia virorum fortium.
17 (UKJV) And Abijah and his people slew them with a great slaughter: so there fell down slain of Israel five hundred thousand chosen men.

18 (KAT) Takto boli v tom čase pokorení synovia Izraela, synovia Júdu však zosilneli, lebo sa opierali o Pána, Boha svojich otcov.
18 (VUL) Humiliatique sunt filii Israel in tempore illo, et confortati filii Iudae, eo quod sperassent in Domino, Deo patrum suorum.
18 (UKJV) Thus the children of Israel were brought under at that time, and the children of Judah prevailed, because they relied upon the LORD God of their fathers.

19 (KAT) Abiáš prenasledoval Jeroboama a odňal mu mestá: Betel a jeho osady, Jesanu a jej osady a Efron a jeho osady.
19 (VUL) Persecutus est autem Abia fugientem Ieroboam et cepit civitates eius Bethel et filias eius et Iesana cum filiabus suis, Ephron quoque et filias eius.
19 (UKJV) And Abijah pursued after Jeroboam, and took cities from him, Bethel with the towns thereof, and Jeshanah with the towns thereof, and Ephraim with the towns thereof.

20 (KAT) Za Abiášových dní sa už Jeroboam nevzchopil. Pán ho ranil, že zomrel.

20 (UKJV) Neither did Jeroboam recover strength again in the days of Abijah: and the LORD struck him, and he died.

23 (KAT) Potom sa Abiáš uložil k svojim otcom a pochovali ho v Dávidovom meste. Namiesto neho sa stal kráľom jeho syn Asa. Za jeho dní mala krajina desať rokov pokoj.
