1 (VUL) Confortatus est ergo Salomon filius David in regno suo, et Dominus Deus eius erat cum eo et magnificavit eum in excelsum.
1 (UKJV) And Solomon the son of David was strengthened in his kingdom, and the LORD his God was with him, and magnified him exceedingly.

2 (VUL) Praecepitque Salomon universo Israeli, tribunis et centurionibus et iudicibus et ducibus omnis Israel et principibus familiarum
2 (UKJV) Then Solomon spoke unto all Israel, to the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and to the judges, and to every governor in all Israel, the chief of the fathers.

3 (VUL) et abiit cum universa multitudine in excelsum Gabaon, ubi erat tabernaculum conventus Dei, quod fecit Moyses famulus Dei in solitudine.
3 (UKJV) "So Solomon, and all the congregation with him, went to the high place that was at Gibeon; for there was the tabernacle of the congregation of God, which Moses the servant of the LORD had made in the wilderness. "

4 (VUL) Arcam autem Dei adduxerat David de Cariathiarim in locum, quem praeparaverat ei et ubi fixerat illi tabernaculum, hoc est in Ierusalem;
4 (UKJV) But the ark of God had David brought up from Kirjathjearim to the place which David had prepared for it: for he had pitched a tent for it at Jerusalem.

5 (VUL) altare quoque aeneum, quod fabricatus fuerat Beseleel filius Uri filii Hur, ibi erat coram tabernaculo Domini; ibique requisivit eum Salomon et omnis ecclesia.
5 (UKJV) Moreover the brazen altar, that Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, had made, he put before the tabernacle of the LORD: and Solomon and the congregation sought unto it.

6 (VUL) Ascenditque ibi Salomon ad altare aeneum coram tabernaculo conventus Domini et obtulit in eo mille hostias.
6 (UKJV) And Solomon went up thither to the brazen altar before the LORD, which was at the tabernacle of the congregation, and offered a thousand burnt offerings upon it.

7 (VUL) Ecce autem in ipsa nocte apparuit ei Deus dicens: “ Postula, quod vis, ut dem tibi ”.
7 (UKJV) In that night did God appear unto Solomon, and said unto him, Ask what I shall give you.

8 (VUL) Dixitque Salomon Deo: “ Tu fecisti cum David patre meo misericordiam magnam et constituisti me regem pro eo.
8 (UKJV) And Solomon said unto God, You have showed great mercy unto David my father, and have made me to reign in his position.

9 (VUL) Nunc ergo, Domine Deus, impleatur sermo tuus, quem pollicitus es David patri meo; tu enim me fecisti regem super populum tuum multum, qui tam innumerabilis est quam pulvis terrae.
9 (UKJV) Now, O LORD God, let your promise unto David my father be established: for you have made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude.

10 (VUL) Da mihi sapientiam et intellegentiam, ut ingrediar et egrediar coram populo tuo; quis enim potest hunc populum tuum digne, qui tam grandis est, iudicare? ”.
10 (UKJV) Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this your people, that is so great?

11 (VUL) Dixit autem Deus ad Salomonem: “ Quia hoc magis placuit cordi tuo et non postulasti divitias et substantiam et gloriam neque animas eorum, qui te oderant, sed nec dies vitae plurimos, petisti autem sapientiam et scientiam, ut iudicare possis populum meum, super quem constitui te regem,
11 (UKJV) "And God said to Solomon, Because this was in your heart, and you have not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of your enemies, neither yet have asked long life; but have asked wisdom and knowledge for yourself, that you may judge my people, over whom I have made you king: "

12 (VUL) sapientia et scientia data sunt tibi; divitias autem et substantiam et gloriam dabo tibi, ita ut nullus in regibus nec ante te nec post te fuerit similis tui ”.
12 (UKJV) "Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto you; and I will give you riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before you, neither shall there any after you have the like. "

13 (VUL) Venit ergo Salomon ab excelso Gabaon in Ierusalem coram tabernaculo conventus et regnavit super Israel.
13 (UKJV) Then Solomon came from his journey to the high place that was at Gibeon to Jerusalem, from before the tabernacle of the congregation, and reigned over Israel.

14 (VUL) Congregavitque sibi currus et equites, et facti sunt ei mille quadringenti currus et duodecim milia equitum, et fecit eos esse in urbibus quadrigarum et cum rege in Ierusalem.
14 (UKJV) And Solomon gathered chariots and horsemen: and he had a thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, which he placed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem.

15 (VUL) Praebuitque rex argentum et aurum in Ierusalem quasi lapides et cedros quasi sycomoros, quae nascuntur in Sephela multitudine magna.
15 (UKJV) And the king made silver and gold at Jerusalem as abundant as stones, and cedar trees made he as the sycomore trees that are in the vale for abundance.

16 (VUL) Adducebantur autem ei equi de Aegypto et de Coa; negotiatores regis de Coa emebant pretio
16 (UKJV) And Solomon had horses brought out of Egypt, and linen yarn: the king's merchants received the linen yarn at a price.

17 (VUL) et faciebant ascendere et exire de Aegypto quadrigam sescentis argenteis et equum centum quinquaginta; similiter universis regibus Hetthaeorum et Syriae per manus suas educebant.
17 (UKJV) And they fetched up, and brought forth out of Egypt a chariot for six hundred shekels of silver, and an horse for an hundred and fifty: and so brought they out horses for all the kings of the Hittites, and for the kings of Syria, by their means.

18 (VUL) Decrevit autem Salomon aedificare domum nomini Domini et palatium sibi.
